• His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama is concerned about the freedom, peace and happiness of the six million Tibetan people.
• His Holiness The Dalai Lama is concerned about the future of the most precious, profound culture in the world, which preserves the entire teaching of the Buddha: the Lesser Vehicle, and the Great Vehicle, Sutra and Secret Mantra.
• Even though some evil beings criticize His Holiness, unlike common people and even other religious leaders, He only benefits them in return.
"going to war... " LMAO you know the funny thing is, when they civilians saw the troops, they feel SAFE!!! Because that's what the PLA does, keep the area stable so everyone can get their live back! CNN understands that perfectly, they are just full of shit.
Biased report for western ignorants, fits their propaganda perfectly. Well done CNN! Why don't you focus attention on how many innocent lives killed by US in two gulf wars? How much oil your government illegally acquired by occupying defenceless countries?Trying to impose your opinion on China's human rights record? You want your voice to be heard? YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO COMMENT.
the usa would be raping the women there and poisoning all the rivers which will kill people in china india vietnam laos cambodia thailand burma and bangedash and mayb invade nepal
chinese need tibet for borders
with the sneaky american using propaganda to sabatoge future superpowers
Xizang, ( Tibet) a province of China had been and always will be a part of China. More than 99% of the world's population recognizes that. Xizang's domestic affairs are China's alone and it does not appreciate interference in its National Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity.
fuck CNN BBC, fuck so called human rights, there is no fucking human rights in this fucking world,if you are really stupid like a pig that belives the western media.they serve for the gorverment sicretly.
Well simple solution. If the Han-Chinese didn't move into Tibet in such massive numbers then no riots, no protest, no problem, no one hurt. Tibet belongs to Tibetans. The Chinese can steal our land, rename our streets, bulldoze our Tibetan footprint, open hundreds of brothels in our most sacred city of Lhasa but never will they own our hearts, our minds, our soul. It just won't happen, ever!
Tibet has been part of China since the 13th Century since the Yuan Dynasty. AND for the record, Mongols are part of the 56 ethnic groups as well. We didn't say that the Han race owns China completely, it is shared with 55 other races.
And in 1904, Britain invaded Tibet as well, killing Tibetian resistance as they went through.
That's a complete lie promoted for years by the Chinese government. Yes, Britain, virtually all countries are guilty of things, all have come under foreign influence at one time or another. Chinese like to lay claim to the Mongol Yuan Dynasty but it has no basis in reality, as the Mongols conquered China, Tibet had a cho-yon (priest-patron relationship with the Mongols and broke away from any Mongol influence years before even China did.
which statement is a lie? China IS made up of 56 different races, and I don't see many, if any of them protesting from being part of China. And the Yuan Dynasty IS part of Chinese History, since there wasn't a proper China at that time (only the Southern Song Dynasty).
1) So the Chinese Ming Dynasty "replaced the Yuan Dynasty and inherited the right to rule Tibet"? There is no historical basis for this assertion. First of all the relationship established between Mongol Khans or emperors and Tibetan lamas predated the Mongol conquest of China.
1)Inherited or not, Tibet is STILL part of the Ming Dynasty -- and the Qing's.
AND if u argue that the Qing dynasty was ruled over by the Manchus, Manchus ARE also a part of the 56 races.
But first of all iamlumin, do u AGREE that China's made up of 56 races? If not, then I see this conversation is pretty pointless for me to explain it to u.
Untrue as Tibet broke free before the Chinese did. In addition, Tibet's relationship wasn't entirely different unlike in the case of China. Tibetans are not Chinese. That's the simple fact. You can do as you like through force but you can't steal the hearts and minds of Tibetans at the barrel of a gun.
2) Tibet broke from having any influence from the Mongol emperors well before China regained its independence from them. The Chinese emperors of the Ming inherited no relationship from the Mongols. On the other hand, Mongol Khans continued to maintain their intensive religious and cultural ties with Tibetans, in the form of cho-yon (priest -patron) relationships, for centuries afterwards.
2)And what about the Dali and the Tangut Empires? Weren't they part of the Yuan dynasty? They have been part of the ROC, PRC and the Ming & Qing Dynasties. I don't hear the Sichuan or the Kunming people rioting much either. Either way, 'freeing' Tibet will NOT help the situation.
Nonsense! Already addressed this previously. Tibetans are generally non-violent. That's how the invasion was accomplished in the first place. That's how the occupation continues. Freeing Tibet from China would help Tibetans immensely but not the Chinese officials pocketbooks. They would be hurt, as they're making a lot of money off of Tibet.
I'm not sure what your point is. You mean the truth that after 60 years of occupation, exploitation, oppression, torture and being spit on as a people Tibetans have grown weary? You mean because of the fact that there were no permanent Chinese residents in Tibet prior to the invasion and now they have transferred massive population of Han which has made Tibetans a minority in some areas and of course, this is very upsetting considering it's there sacred homeland and not Chinese?
Look did u actually saw the video that i proposed? And the fact that yr're speaking about the 'Han immigration' and refusal for admitting other races into Tibet is quite disturbing -- your're speaking as if you were an official during the closed-door policy.
If Tibet was not occupied then we would have an immigration policy that did not result in Tibetans being a minority in their own sacred homeland. Go to Lhasa, it's not even a Tibetan city anymore, it's a Chinese city, Chinese street names, etc. Why do you think that after the invasion Tibet was divided up and various areas incorporated into existing Chinese provinces? They wanted to make this takeover irreversible. If always part of China, no need for this, no invasion.
Uh, a minority? U are calling 92% Tibetians a minority? Only 6% -- a fare percentage -- of people in Tibet are Han. And 2% Nepalese, Mongols and other Chinese races.
REALLY u sound like a Tibetian socialist, like Hitler, people who want to purify their countries into their own racial satisfaction.
Uh, this is not the case in all areas and by the way there were few if any permanent Chinese residents in Tibet prior to the invasion. Why? Because it was never Chinese. How can you call a place Chinese when there are no Chinese living there? That's why one of MAO's first actions was to transferred thousands upon thousands of Han into Tibet as soon as he good. Ya, you're okay just as long as everyone is part of China, just as long as we don't care to have our country back from the invaders.
I have to ask one thing -- WHY do u hate 'foreigners' living in Tibet so much? If the British have settled in Tibet by the million, would u attempt to shove out the millions? Let them be where they are, u race-purifier.
Since u live in Tibet (or u are a tibetian, judging by what you've said), tell me, has the economy in Tibet improved these past 50 years? One more thing -- just take a look at the video that the link I've posted, THEN continue to argue over the 'peacefullness' of the lamas.
No one hates foreigners. Given our country back we would have our own immigration policy, one that did not endanger our culture & cause hardship for our people. Many Han make fun, humiliate us. For us life is not all about the accumulation of stuff. Our spirituality comes first. Trust me, in this modern world there's enough resources in Tibet that all Tibetans could be doing quite well if we only had to worry about Tibetans. Our resources are being ravaged & much is taken to mainland China.
Anyway, the funny thing is was that it was a minority of the Tibetians that were rioting and smashing every single shop they could find and foreign nations blame China and demands her to 'restrain violence'? AND just before the Olympics AND just after we've built the Qingzang railway for them? Isn't it obvious that the rioting was all organized?
Come to think of it, do you KNOW that the Tibetians are rioting? And it is China that is trying to settle the matter?
No it's not obvious and considering I hear from people inside Tibet I know what's going on. Tibetans are afraid to speak up, afraid to protest. This is why you don't see more people doing it. China is trying to settle it? By invading, occupying, exploiting and oppressing? Good luck with that!
Hmm, have u heard of the lama in Tibet who owned up lying that the PLA have shut them all in?
And there ISN'T much, if any evidence supporting that China is looting and oppressing the Tibetians nowadays.
From yr point of view, do u mean China's been slaughtering Tibetians for these past 50 years, or they have started doing this last in just before the Olympics for no reason at all?
Hmm, there's a shit load of evidence if you can see the forest through the trees and are willing to look. Just the fact that there are nearly 1,000 brothels in Lhasa is a persistent insult to Tibetans. Lhasa has been turned into a cheap sort of disneyland. Not to mention there are police stations in monasteries. Give me a break! Tibetans have been incredibly patient it's true but that patience is wearing thin.
HMM, (yes, it's my turn to 'hmm') u might have no idea how the Dalai Lama ran Tibet before 1950 as a theocratic and primitive (not to mention poor)government. The entire country was controlled by lamas and the 'nobles', less than 5% of the population. The rest 95% were either slaves or farmers who needed to sell their grain to the nobles, only to buy them back at a higher price. Interest fees were unbelievably high at that time -- almost an oriental pre-revolutionary France. Check up on it.
DL was a child when he was taken to Lhasa. He was a kid when he was rushed into taking temporal power in Tibet around the time of the Chinese invasion. He started making changes in Tibet immediately. So you admit Tibet was another country controlled by Lamas and nobles. Thank you for finally admitting it. Now we know it did not belong to China.
Who gives a crap about the UN? Look at what they do and/or don't do all over the world. The UN was an infant org at the time of the invasion. The US being a predominantly Christian society saw no value in helping Tibet a predominantly Buddhist society.
For the record AND as I've said before, Britain grabbed Tibet from the Qing Empire during the Boxer Rebellion and became a sphere of British influence. WE have to get Tibet it back after the destruction caused by WWII and the Civil War, the inefficient ROC ran by Chiang Kai Shek etc.
Again, all countries have dealt with foreign influence at one time or another but Tibet never gave up here sovereignty and in fact still hasn't. This is why the Chinese try to force those Tibetans who disagree to sign documents that agree with China's position. This is why they won't let the DL back in Tibet unless he agrees Tibet has always been part of China. It's a complete lie throughout.
The majority are not over the PRC rule as you say. They see no other choice. Tell me, what are their options but to try to survive and make the best of it? When they speak up they get in trouble, they are detained, some are imprisoned while others go to labor camps. Where's the choice?
u said that Tibet was not ruled by the minor higher class? well, there u are. If u are a tibetian, then U have no knowledge of your past. We FREED u from tyranny (since Tibet was part of China before 1911 anyway).
With these 2 videos (the previous one in my previous comment) I hope you seriously watch them before arguing over the legitimacy of Tibet. Of course unless u refuse to face the truth.
Freed! 18% population died since the invasion. Winter "strike hard" campaign is occurring right now. Nearly 6,000 Tibetans interrogated. Three protesters beaten and detained. That's freedom? Lhasa is now basically a Chinese city and has lost most of its Tibetan footprint. So if you don't like how someone else is living you invade, occupy, exploit, dominate and oppress? That's your idea of freedom and liberation? No thanks!
During that short period of time (early 20th cent. -- 1950), Tibet was sub-ruled as a primitive theocratic government of terror. After 1950, though some people STILL are unsatisfied by PRC rule, they have to admit that it's a lot better than Dalai Lama's despotic rule.
More lies. Will it ever end? My family not nobles and no one was a slave or suffered any terror. The Chinese spit on our culture, our history, our unique Tibetan footprint in Tibet. Go to Lhasa, it has lost most of its Tibetan footprint. In fact, the only Tibetan things allowed to survive are those that generate tourist dollars. Even at the Potala some Chinese dress up as Tibetans to fooled tourist and in monasteries there are undercover Chinese dressed as monks. They watch everything we do.
Look here. Tibetians riot, including lamas; nations intervene and calls China to 'restrain violence'; the Dalai Lama steps in and wants the Tibetian rioting to stop...AND he's content over Tibet as an autonomous region.
Do these rioters KNOW what they are fighting for? If they're wanting the Dalai Lama back to rule over them as a theocratic and crude 'nation' then I'm telling you, they are not getting it.
Think about what you're saying., The DL is being realistic. He's not content with Tibet as an autonomous region. He is compromising because he knows China will not let go of Tibet with its vast resources the Chinese need to fuel their economic growth. The water rights alone are essential to the Chinese nation as stated by a Chinese official. Note: we don't necessary want the DL back, first and foremost we want our country back, all of it!
1) I've seen the videos and more. I'm very aware of Tibet's history. Prior to 1950 there were no permanent Chinese residents in Tibet, a rep at a mission in Lhasa who was Chinese and even confirmed that Tibet was operating as an independent country.
2) During the invasion & also the uprising, Tibetan children were forced to shoot their parents, monks were forced to fornicate in the streets, & people were forced to use ancient scriptures as toilet paper. Before the cultural revolution just one of five foundries in mainland China reported that they melted down nearly 600 tons of gold and silver statues. Nearly 6,000 monasteries & places of worship were destroyed, ancient artifacts and scriptures either looted or brunt.
THAT was during the Cultural Revolution. Mainland China wasn't going on well either at that time, so was the rest of the world during the Cold War. Tourists were allowed to flow in and out of Tibet for the past 30 years and NONE of them, up until today, have complained on violence. China isn't yugoslavia, it will not be seperated by races, that was what yugoslavia did 50 years ago. Result? A dozen 'nations' declared independence, with conflicts between bosnia and serbia even until today.
Tibet is held by force and that's a fact. China actually needs the resources and they've admitted it. The water is essential for hundreds of millions of people in Asia. Tourism is very controlled, you can't go around wherever you want, particularly Tibetans. Someone is always watching and/or listening. No one complains about violence because Tibetans are generally non-violent as a society. That's why it was so easy for the Chinese to take over.
Rubbish. When humans are uneducated, there are violent. Civilization brings temper control and sense. That was what had happened in China during the unfortunate Cult. Rev. When a riot starts in a region. What do you expect a country to do? Leave the riot going and allow it to spread all over the nation? We MUST send in people to hold the rebels back. I'm sure every single nation in the world would agree on that.
Plenty of educated humans commit very stupid and hideous actions. Again, the hundreds of thousands of Chinese soldiers in Tibet should not be there because Tibet is not China. Tibet is Tibet and China is China.
And should Tibet gain independence, what will your 'government' be? The DL and their continuation of barbaric rituals? U never had a true government except for the theocratic government that the DL has imposed on the Tibetian peasants. I see no reason whatsoever in the continuation of a culture/religion that is recognised as an atrocity around the globe by international law AND by other sensible religions. Seriously, u don't know anything about yr own 'culture', full of bloodthirstiness and evil
First of all it's none of China's business, as that complain about others in their business they invaded and occupy Tibet thus getting into Tibet's business. What do you think, they're in Tibet out of the kindness of their heart? Please! A new Tibetan govern. would be a democracy. The evil invaded Tibet in 1950, occupies, exploit, steals, tortures, and oppresses even today. 60 years of this crap is enough!
And your source of evidence comes from...? Cannibalism existed in Tibet which ended as near as the 19th century. Lamaism used human skin for disgusting rituals.
So if you say the rituals come from China (which is ridiculous), you are agreeing to the fact that Tibet belongs to China? Thank you for clearing up that point.
And what about the Lamas that participated in the riots? Lamas are supposedly non-violent. In fact, one of the most peaceful religions. And here they are now, kicking shop doors, smashing windows and shouting like wild, uncivilized monkeys. I feel sorry for them as much as I feel sorry for the brainwashed, aggresive pro-Tibetian protesters. THEY are doing all the rioting. If u look carefully, not one nation wanted Tibet independent fully. All that they were asking was for a peaceful resolution.
I know it must make you feel comfortable to stay with your fixed belief about Tibet. Yes, Tibetans including Lamas are growing weary after 60 years of oppression and occupation. They're like human beings that way. Chinese spit on Tibet, our culture, our land, our way of life every day and you're bitching about a riot. Give me a break! Take someone else's country, oppress the people and then complain when they don't go along with it. That's your logic?
u say that Tibet soverignity has nothing got to do with the DL? then u must admit that life has definitely improved after 1959, regardless of whether u think that it has not reached the standard that u wanted.
You know prior to 1950 in China some people were reduced to eating their dead babies because of massive famines. In the old days having body parts used after your death was like a last act of charity. It was considered on last altruistic act. You really don't understand Tibetan culture and Chinese love to distort it and make it sound barbaric. It depends on how you define better. We are not free. We have lost our country. We are under constant oppression. Many have died. That's not better to me.
"...Most of Tibet was controlled by local rulers and who also wielded questionable and fleeting power. This lax system of rule in Tibet allowed for the creation and fruition of shamanic traditions, Tantric practices, and the importance of the lama. Under Chinese control, capable of maintaining a strict central government, this interplay of local traditions and their loose affiliations is removed, lessening the influence of lamas and raising skepticism towards Tantric practices." from wikipedia
If you're using wikipedia as your source for truth and fact then you're in trouble. Anyone can submit data to wikipedia. Tibet's history is complex but on the day of the invasion there's no doubt that Tibet was an independent country with its own distinctive people, its own monetary system, postal service, passports, army, language, script, etc. That's the bottom line. Ancient history, the old Tibetan system, these are merely attempts to justify and rationalize invasion and occupation.
3) No is saying Tibet was perfect or that the Tibetan system was perfect. That is not the point. Things were and are far from perfect in many parts of the world. If it weren't for the fact that Tibetans are predominately non-violent and that they support the DL middle path then Tibet would be more or less like the middle east with suicide bombings and attacks daily. Most humans would become violent in the face of 60 years of oppression.
4) You don't seem to understand that Tibetans would have modernized to a degree anyway, just as the rest of the world has. Only with Tibetans in charge we would have done so without the destruction of our cultural identity and way of life, without destroying our great monasteries,
and torturing our people, without bulldozing our own indigenous footprint in our sacred homeland.
Every single nation in the world have tourist attraction sites. So what if foreign tourists are allowed to visit the potala palace. Millions of temples and monasteries are available around the globe, with Vatican City, the most sacred place of the Roman Catholics, available to every single person around the world. Even communist North Korea had tourist attraction sites. Do you mean that should Tibet gain 'independence', potala palace and other temples would be closed from tourists?
Not at all. The Potala is a Tibetan national treasure. Only problem is all of Lhasa is being ruined. Brothels and tack shops and amusement rides. The city was constructed in a very specific manner and that has been destroyed. Renaming streets in Chinese and bulldozing Tibetan footprint. In fact, jobs for Tibetans are sparse so they are forced to actually ruin their own Tibetan structures and build Chinese structures just to survive. I'm talking old men and women.
And your source for all that persecuation is from...?
Anyway, look around Tibet. To the west and the south: Huge mountain ranges. To the North and East: Huge deserted wasteland, impossible to cultivate. Did u ever wonder why China moved back into Tibet in 1950, when the PRC was still extremely unstable in the world? 97% of the Tibetians supported the occupation. Only 9000 tibetians supported the Dalai Lama.
How about direct observation? How about a good family friend who's 8 year old son was shot in the back in the 1980's? Your numbers are way off. In the uprising alone nearly 90,000 Tibetans were killed by the Chinese. They were there to support the DL. This isn't about the DL anyway. It's about the a country being invaded and occupied. It's about oppression, torture, mind control, forced reeducation, etc. It's about control through fear.
"Our country", please don't make assumptions. Two wrongs don't make a right. A = A = A = A is insanity. Tibet is a unique country with a distinctive people to that land. Yes, most humans operate predominately from fear and thus they seek to control, attack, and even kill that which they don't understand. Sort of a mantra that goes something like, "the more I have, the more I am". It's completely bogus, loveless, and godless.
5) Recent news. Chinese have implemented "strike hard" campaign, interrogating nearly 6,000 Tibetans for no reason. Over 80 Tibetans have been detained, three protesters beaten & detained last week for protesting Chinese rule in Tibet. It has now been confirmed that one
young man has died as a result of the beating. That's your idea of progress for Tibetans? No thanks! We want our sacred homeland back. Take all the Chinese crap, buildings, tacky amusement parks, brothels, etc. Leave us in peace
I was wondering if Tibet would've climbed out of the chaos and theo-facism of the DL if China hasn't reoccupated Tibet in 1950. If u are stubborn enough as to point out that Tibetian culture is not a part of the Pan-Chinese cultural boundary, then shouldn't the Han, Yue, Wu, Manchu, Mongols, Shuis and the rest of them declare independence? If that happens all over the world where nations are decided according to their racial differences, humanity would collapse.
Of course it would have. It had already begun. The DL was a child when he was in Tibet. He left as a very young man. Tibetan culture, language, script, religion, is all very distinctive. Look around, humanity is already collapsing. The environment is in big trouble with the biggest and fastest extinction in process in history. Mostly due to human impact. By the way, you didn't address one point I made in my five recent postings.
Meanwhile, everyone with eyes can see that the pro-tibetian protesters are much more violent that those who are supporting China. Check up videos during the olympic torch relay around the world. the protesters were literally attempting to snatch the torches from the atheletes, despite the simple truth that the olympic games are to have no political interference. Don't u all feel ashamed?
Every government have had conspiracies and secrets hidden from their people. We admit that the CPC censors SOME truth to their people, but EVERY SINGLE NATION in the world does that. What about the watergate scandal in America, arguably the nation full of 'democratic'-extremists? If u are saying that the rest of the Chinese people are stupid and ignorant, the Tibetians weren't much better before 1950.
That's accurate but we're not talking about all governments. The Chinese people are generally being stupid right now. I can provide hundreds of examples where the Chinese authorities have fooled the public. They reported they controlled the enthronement of the 14 DL as a way of convincing the public that they owned Tibet. They put a picture of a rep in the paper along with a story. Only problem is that the photo was taken 3 days after the enthronement. Many, many, lies that now run very deep.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is killer. he killed thousand of his on people and thousad of tibet people. he still killing his on people and tibetans.he is the enemy of peace. he doesnt like peace. the Dalai lama is the man of world peace maker.world should caraful with. china want destroy the world. they also destroy email address. if you talke about peace or about dalai lama. they will destroy email address. they did this many peoples address. free world free tibet. peace. lang life dalai lama.
OMG...CNN still keeps lying. What a shame...Please take care of your own business, have you Yankees found the WMDs in Iraq? Crazy American Media please stop lying!
In my opinion, China should never give freedom to these Liars and should kick them back home...
But we must understand and have sympathy over America, they are in a troubling time and need to release their populace' anger somewhere. If it happens on their home soils there will be a great regress in order. It would be a great loss for the USA and humanity as a whole. So let's just bear with their irresponsible actions for now and help them stabilise the turbulance. After all we were once the greatest nation of etiquette, its time we pick up our ancestor's legacy and glorify it once again.
However just such action is, as long as it is performed by China central government there will be voices raised against it. Why? Well, China was never the ideal politic power allowed to grow by the Great-White-Civilisation. Look back into the history and you will see sense in my words.
But, as for now, it's also a matter of taking domestic tensions outwards, shifting attention to foreign affairs. It's an understandable political maneuver thats been practiced by almost all governments.
*Sigh* You know why there were so many reinforcements sent in? Because before that, those brave soilders received orders that demanded them respond without violence. As the result, many young soilders were stabbed to death, stoned to death, been push off the towers and fall to their death. Facing such escalated situation, any sane authority would start move in anti-riot units to maintain peace and order.
I don't trust the woman who CNN found to interviewing. Just someone who can speak English and even no dare to show her face, how come I can trust her to speak the truth?
And CNN Lies!!!
When the CNN reporter interviewed the Chinese people, they translate it IN DIFFERENT!! I can understand Chinese, they changed what the Chinese people said!!!
its funny how tibet wants peace, but they use force to convey their message by abusing innocent chinese. my opinion is that tibetans are also hypocrites in this case.
china needs to continue their rule over these brute savages.
A Tibetan guy protected her because chinese spy bastards started the riots..and everything will get to normal only when the chinese leave tibet....FREE TIBET
Japan and China went into war 70 years ago (for the second time).
Japan was an evil killer only and China was always an innocent victim? Do you know how Marco Polo Bridge Incident began? Do you know anything about Tungchow Mutiny? Who killed Japanese civilians (business people and their family, not soldiers!) in Shanghai or some other cities first?
What China is doing in Tibet today has nothing to do with Japan 70-60 years ago!
Japan killed Koreans? Who taught you such a "story"? China has killed more than 1.2 million Tibetans in the past half century, but the population of Koreans doubled (2.3 times larger) only in 35 years under the rule of Japan!
where did you get your information. the tibetan population was around 1 million and now its 3 million. dont lie infort of people's face, it only proves that you lack of education. im sure you dont even know where tibet is on the map. i have so many korean friends, non of them like japanese, i wonder why...
you wonder why? because you don't know the history of Asia. Korea and China will never like japanese untill Japan apolagizes about world war 2 and tell the real history to japanese students. Japan is different from Germany. they are afraid to admit their huge mistakes.
China was almost a colony of European empires, Korea was almost China's colony.
And Russia was about to prey on Japan, Japan needed to modernize its social systems hurriedly. Japan accepted whatever seemed good in western countries, e.g., modern laws and the separation of three powers.
Then, what was China doing? Korea? Did they make any efforts to fight against western empires? No -- instead they took every chance to cheat and deceive Japan.
Why didn't CNN do a better job of telling how ethnic Chinese were hunted down and killed, some burned alive, by Tibetan radicals?
It's really sad, that they turned away from reporting this at the time. By now, most people incorrectly think the rioters were doing great things when they set girls on fire, stoned the girl in this video... it's really sick. This is why so many Chinese are mad at CNN... they knew the truth.
They always want to be "victims" and blame others.
They never learn anything from history.
Do you know why Japan modernized its social system hurriedly in the middle of 19th century?
Opium War - the result of this war shocked Japan. At that time China was called "a sleeping Lion in Orient", but this lion wouldn't wake up and let western empires exploit it.
China, you can be a victim forever if you like, and we look at you with pity.
Qing dynasty was not Han Chinese, they were Manchurian. =) We're happily living together in China today. You use the word "exploit"; can you elaborate what exactly you're talking about? One of the reasons, the Japanese would not like to capture by the west so they used every possible means to eliminate the old timers and became modernized during Meiji period. maomikimirai I suggest you find a quiet place and think. Please don't say anything more to hurt the Chinese and Korean. I forgive you.
What do you mean Chinese and Koreans are alike. Are you ignorant? They speak different languages and have different cultures. Even a few years ago, Seoul changed its Chinese name to show its distinction from the Chinese. They Never wanted to be victims, never has. If they want to be victims, there would not be an independent Chinese or Korean government today but a bunch of colonies controlled by other countries.

Maomikimirai. You said that Japan modernized its social system in the middle of the 19th century. How? Opium war, right. You want to mention history. Who started the World War II in Asia. Your so-called "modernized" country known as Japan. The Japanese ruined the economies and killed the people in China and Korea, and now you want to justify what kind of saint you are. And thanks to the Sino-Japanese War, it took years and years for Chinese to recover and to catch up with its modern counterparts
By saying how great Japan is today is ignoring what they did in the past. It is just like saying Hitler is so great that we love Germany. Go back to the Tibet issue. So what's the deal? Some monks in Tibet lead by Dalai Lama wants to declare independence, so they by order started to wreak a havoc locally (including burning down houses with people inside). Wait. Does that sound similar? Didnt that kind of local rebellion happen in France before? cont....
You said how modernized Japan's social system is. Let's look closely. Japan does not have this kind of problem China does. Why? Cuz they are all Japanese. For Chinese, there are many different ethnicities, over 50 of them. Doesn't the US have African Americans and Asian Americans? If you just have one pure ethnicity, you probably wont have that kind of problem.
Be aware that I am not criticizing Japan at all. I am just saying that this kind of problem has happened before in any other countries. But why now China's same problem makes the headline is because everyone now is talking about China and how its economy is rapidly changing to affect its western counterparts and Japan.
Also, I respect Japanese today, and I think that Chinese should learn from their manners. Japanese are very polite I agree. But we cant just look at today. We need to figure it out how it has become what today is. Think about China as the developing nation that is perhaps on the same route Japan was going thru many years ago. The end does not justify the means. But often people only care about the end.
Yes, I admit China is slowly improving through time. What do you expect form a country just recovered from centuries of wars and invasions? Unity is the major factor holding all the Chinese together these days. Chinese are moving forward, aren't you? Unfortunately, some hard-liners are in our way because they always want to see a under develop China and uneducated Chinese. If the Japanese really love peace and freedom, work with the Chinese to make a better future instead of criticizing them.
Do you know how many different cultures making up today's China? Do you know how many different dialects are being spoken in China? We are not preferred mono-culture like Amaterasu's descend. Unification, stability and economy are important factors to make everyone in China enough fed and educated including the Tibetan. Would you people give the Chinese a break so they can rebuild their country and get ready to join the gobal community? What good does it make to keep criticizing them?
Japan and China were at war.
The more you deny, the more coward you are showing to the rest of the wrold. You dare to say this in front of United Nation and all the victims in China and Korea. Tons of solid historial evidences proofing Japanese war crimes and invasion in Asia. Ask your inner mind and conscience are you lying to yourself? I suggest you put down your Bushido thought for a moment and think twice what wars and racism can bring us? What China doing in Tibet is not the Japanese and western people business.
My father 92 years old, my mother 82 years old are still alive. My dad was in US army figthing Japanese in China. My mom was homeless during Japanese occupation. Can you show respect to people you've hurt and killed? What a mistake we let you use kanji and borrow our culture. You'd better learn some real history before you deny anything. Chinese don't live in the past but Japanese cannot face their past. 21st century, why are you promoting hatred against Chinese instead of working things out?
u should research on resources fm middle-side, neither from CNN or CCTV, there are records on Tibet from western tourists or from HK had reflected the truth. That is completely different from the above-mentioned.
in fact, a lot of the US know little about Chinese-History/ Tibet. How much do u know abt the tradition Tibet?
Wake up and admit the invasion war crimes in WW2 then apologize to the Chinese and all the Asian people after. Stop modifying history and face the truth you are 100% wrong in Nanking massacre. Don't be brainwash by your right-wing government and keep your eyes open, otherwise you will be only a tool of the western hardliners to against the Chinese.
CNN a well reputated org. with some stupid supposed to be well educated westerners humans in these org. have cost great sufferings to the establishment...Why these stupid humans talk one way story to humialate the whole race of chinese in this world...ARE THERE HUMAN...THEY should receive the divine-punishment..I BELIEF...Why these stupid humans creat problems????
Chinese can use English or Chinese to call CNN as a shit.
But you only can only say so-so English(actually, I know many Chinese's English is better than yours) to call Chinese as Rice-eating narrow-minded pig.
To Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi: Do you speak any Chinese? You reject Chinese stories, and faithfully listen to Tibetan exiles. Is this not a bias? Why the Chinese protests are blacked out in your media? Do you not worry that you are seen as hostile and ignorant against China? Open your eyes! Is it not clear that the over-whelming majority of Chinese people support their government and system? I plead the West to LEARN FACTS, ACCEPT FACTS and RESPECT FACTS.
CNN is BS. What, is the chinese government gonna just sit there and do nothing while violent tibetans light up buildings and kill innocent civilians? Human rights is good, violent protests are not. And CNN is racist
from the woman's words, she is beaten by Tibetan mob but saved by Tibetan as well which happened to many victims in the riot. That means not all Tibetans are against Han ethical Chinese, which illustrates the point that China's news reports are fair.
Well at least CNN is drawing some evidence in its program this time. But they received aggressive threats? People send lotz of dispersions thru peaceful protest and internet comments already, why the need for aggression?
bobcatgoldwait, CCP usually block the news, CNN fake their own news. It is because CCP is not as experienced to use media to control people's mind. Nobody is better off.
Do a youTube search on "Vancouver Chinese protest Tibetan riots in Downtown".
Why Western Medias are MUTED on this? Hundreds of thousands of Chinese, including HongKongese and Taiwanese, protest miles after miles. There is ZERO report in EU, BBC, CNN, Australia and other Western nations. Smaller anti-China protests are reported extensively in the West. Is this how "Free Media" works?
Western Christian racist haters need to learn to respect FACTS.

heh, I love how we have people on here screaming about bias, and then turn around and throw their bias back in America's face.
But what bugs me the most? The self-entitlement that people feel in that they can mock America because 'America's evil.' Or my personal favorite:
"Americans are evil" for reasons that are so laughable and downright ignorant themselves, that you're mortified to realize they're being serious!

It just won't happen, ever!
iamlumin 3 years ago
uh, China is made up of 56 ethnic groups, just as Great Britain is made up of the English, Scots, Welsh etc.
dcspc 3 years ago
Yes, but Tibetans have never been one of them. China invaded with force, hold Tibet by force and oppresses with force.
iamlumin 3 years ago
Tibet has been part of China since the 13th Century since the Yuan Dynasty. AND for the record, Mongols are part of the 56 ethnic groups as well. We didn't say that the Han race owns China completely, it is shared with 55 other races.
And in 1904, Britain invaded Tibet as well, killing Tibetian resistance as they went through.
dcspc 3 years ago
That's a complete lie promoted for years by the Chinese government. Yes, Britain, virtually all countries are guilty of things, all have come under foreign influence at one time or another. Chinese like to lay claim to the Mongol Yuan Dynasty but it has no basis in reality, as the Mongols conquered China, Tibet had a cho-yon (priest-patron relationship with the Mongols and broke away from any Mongol influence years before even China did.
iamlumin 3 years ago
which statement is a lie? China IS made up of 56 different races, and I don't see many, if any of them protesting from being part of China. And the Yuan Dynasty IS part of Chinese History, since there wasn't a proper China at that time (only the Southern Song Dynasty).
dcspc 3 years ago
1) So the Chinese Ming Dynasty "replaced the Yuan Dynasty and inherited the right to rule Tibet"? There is no historical basis for this assertion. First of all the relationship established between Mongol Khans or emperors and Tibetan lamas predated the Mongol conquest of China.
iamlumin 3 years ago
1)Inherited or not, Tibet is STILL part of the Ming Dynasty -- and the Qing's.
AND if u argue that the Qing dynasty was ruled over by the Manchus, Manchus ARE also a part of the 56 races.
But first of all iamlumin, do u AGREE that China's made up of 56 races? If not, then I see this conversation is pretty pointless for me to explain it to u.
dcspc 3 years ago
Untrue as Tibet broke free before the Chinese did. In addition, Tibet's relationship wasn't entirely different unlike in the case of China. Tibetans are not Chinese. That's the simple fact. You can do as you like through force but you can't steal the hearts and minds of Tibetans at the barrel of a gun.
iamlumin 3 years ago
2) Tibet broke from having any influence from the Mongol emperors well before China regained its independence from them. The Chinese emperors of the Ming inherited no relationship from the Mongols. On the other hand, Mongol Khans continued to maintain their intensive religious and cultural ties with Tibetans, in the form of cho-yon (priest -patron) relationships, for centuries afterwards.
iamlumin 3 years ago
2)And what about the Dali and the Tangut Empires? Weren't they part of the Yuan dynasty? They have been part of the ROC, PRC and the Ming & Qing Dynasties. I don't hear the Sichuan or the Kunming people rioting much either. Either way, 'freeing' Tibet will NOT help the situation.
dcspc 3 years ago
Nonsense! Already addressed this previously. Tibetans are generally non-violent. That's how the invasion was accomplished in the first place. That's how the occupation continues. Freeing Tibet from China would help Tibetans immensely but not the Chinese officials pocketbooks. They would be hurt, as they're making a lot of money off of Tibet.

dcspc 3 years ago
I'm not sure what your point is. You mean the truth that after 60 years of occupation, exploitation, oppression, torture and being spit on as a people Tibetans have grown weary? You mean because of the fact that there were no permanent Chinese residents in Tibet prior to the invasion and now they have transferred massive population of Han which has made Tibetans a minority in some areas and of course, this is very upsetting considering it's there sacred homeland and not Chinese?
iamlumin 3 years ago
Look did u actually saw the video that i proposed? And the fact that yr're speaking about the 'Han immigration' and refusal for admitting other races into Tibet is quite disturbing -- your're speaking as if you were an official during the closed-door policy.
dcspc 3 years ago
If Tibet was not occupied then we would have an immigration policy that did not result in Tibetans being a minority in their own sacred homeland. Go to Lhasa, it's not even a Tibetan city anymore, it's a Chinese city, Chinese street names, etc. Why do you think that after the invasion Tibet was divided up and various areas incorporated into existing Chinese provinces? They wanted to make this takeover irreversible. If always part of China, no need for this, no invasion.
iamlumin 3 years ago
Uh, a minority? U are calling 92% Tibetians a minority? Only 6% -- a fare percentage -- of people in Tibet are Han. And 2% Nepalese, Mongols and other Chinese races.
REALLY u sound like a Tibetian socialist, like Hitler, people who want to purify their countries into their own racial satisfaction.
dcspc 3 years ago
Uh, this is not the case in all areas and by the way there were few if any permanent Chinese residents in Tibet prior to the invasion. Why? Because it was never Chinese. How can you call a place Chinese when there are no Chinese living there? That's why one of MAO's first actions was to transferred thousands upon thousands of Han into Tibet as soon as he good. Ya, you're okay just as long as everyone is part of China, just as long as we don't care to have our country back from the invaders.
iamlumin 3 years ago
I have to ask one thing -- WHY do u hate 'foreigners' living in Tibet so much? If the British have settled in Tibet by the million, would u attempt to shove out the millions? Let them be where they are, u race-purifier.
Since u live in Tibet (or u are a tibetian, judging by what you've said), tell me, has the economy in Tibet improved these past 50 years? One more thing -- just take a look at the video that the link I've posted, THEN continue to argue over the 'peacefullness' of the lamas.
dcspc 3 years ago
No one hates foreigners. Given our country back we would have our own immigration policy, one that did not endanger our culture & cause hardship for our people. Many Han make fun, humiliate us. For us life is not all about the accumulation of stuff. Our spirituality comes first. Trust me, in this modern world there's enough resources in Tibet that all Tibetans could be doing quite well if we only had to worry about Tibetans. Our resources are being ravaged & much is taken to mainland China.
iamlumin 3 years ago
Anyway, the funny thing is was that it was a minority of the Tibetians that were rioting and smashing every single shop they could find and foreign nations blame China and demands her to 'restrain violence'? AND just before the Olympics AND just after we've built the Qingzang railway for them? Isn't it obvious that the rioting was all organized?
Come to think of it, do you KNOW that the Tibetians are rioting? And it is China that is trying to settle the matter?
dcspc 3 years ago
No it's not obvious and considering I hear from people inside Tibet I know what's going on. Tibetans are afraid to speak up, afraid to protest. This is why you don't see more people doing it. China is trying to settle it? By invading, occupying, exploiting and oppressing? Good luck with that!
iamlumin 3 years ago
Hmm, have u heard of the lama in Tibet who owned up lying that the PLA have shut them all in?
And there ISN'T much, if any evidence supporting that China is looting and oppressing the Tibetians nowadays.
From yr point of view, do u mean China's been slaughtering Tibetians for these past 50 years, or they have started doing this last in just before the Olympics for no reason at all?
dcspc 3 years ago
Hmm, there's a shit load of evidence if you can see the forest through the trees and are willing to look. Just the fact that there are nearly 1,000 brothels in Lhasa is a persistent insult to Tibetans. Lhasa has been turned into a cheap sort of disneyland. Not to mention there are police stations in monasteries. Give me a break! Tibetans have been incredibly patient it's true but that patience is wearing thin.
iamlumin 3 years ago
HMM, (yes, it's my turn to 'hmm') u might have no idea how the Dalai Lama ran Tibet before 1950 as a theocratic and primitive (not to mention poor)government. The entire country was controlled by lamas and the 'nobles', less than 5% of the population. The rest 95% were either slaves or farmers who needed to sell their grain to the nobles, only to buy them back at a higher price. Interest fees were unbelievably high at that time -- almost an oriental pre-revolutionary France. Check up on it.
dcspc 3 years ago
DL was a child when he was taken to Lhasa. He was a kid when he was rushed into taking temporal power in Tibet around the time of the Chinese invasion. He started making changes in Tibet immediately. So you admit Tibet was another country controlled by Lamas and nobles. Thank you for finally admitting it. Now we know it did not belong to China.
iamlumin 3 years ago
I said it WAS ruled by the Lamas and the Nobles. WAS. Tibet is a UN recognised region that belongs to China.
dcspc 3 years ago
Who gives a crap about the UN? Look at what they do and/or don't do all over the world. The UN was an infant org at the time of the invasion. The US being a predominantly Christian society saw no value in helping Tibet a predominantly Buddhist society.
iamlumin 3 years ago
For the record AND as I've said before, Britain grabbed Tibet from the Qing Empire during the Boxer Rebellion and became a sphere of British influence. WE have to get Tibet it back after the destruction caused by WWII and the Civil War, the inefficient ROC ran by Chiang Kai Shek etc.
dcspc 3 years ago
Again, all countries have dealt with foreign influence at one time or another but Tibet never gave up here sovereignty and in fact still hasn't. This is why the Chinese try to force those Tibetans who disagree to sign documents that agree with China's position. This is why they won't let the DL back in Tibet unless he agrees Tibet has always been part of China. It's a complete lie throughout.
iamlumin 3 years ago
Only a minority of the Tibetians want independence. The majority are content over the PRC rule.
Look, did you see the link I gave u or are u just unwilling to watch the clip? Even the lamas are joining the crash.
dcspc 3 years ago
The majority are not over the PRC rule as you say. They see no other choice. Tell me, what are their options but to try to survive and make the best of it? When they speak up they get in trouble, they are detained, some are imprisoned while others go to labor camps. Where's the choice?
iamlumin 3 years ago
phew, found it.
hk(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=pMWT6CBaAtQ
again, replace the (dot) with .
u said that Tibet was not ruled by the minor higher class? well, there u are. If u are a tibetian, then U have no knowledge of your past. We FREED u from tyranny (since Tibet was part of China before 1911 anyway).
With these 2 videos (the previous one in my previous comment) I hope you seriously watch them before arguing over the legitimacy of Tibet. Of course unless u refuse to face the truth.
dcspc 3 years ago
No thanks!
iamlumin 3 years ago
During that short period of time (early 20th cent. -- 1950), Tibet was sub-ruled as a primitive theocratic government of terror. After 1950, though some people STILL are unsatisfied by PRC rule, they have to admit that it's a lot better than Dalai Lama's despotic rule.
dcspc 3 years ago
They watch everything we do.
iamlumin 3 years ago
Look here. Tibetians riot, including lamas; nations intervene and calls China to 'restrain violence'; the Dalai Lama steps in and wants the Tibetian rioting to stop...AND he's content over Tibet as an autonomous region.
Do these rioters KNOW what they are fighting for? If they're wanting the Dalai Lama back to rule over them as a theocratic and crude 'nation' then I'm telling you, they are not getting it.
dcspc 3 years ago
Think about what you're saying., The DL is being realistic. He's not content with Tibet as an autonomous region. He is compromising because he knows China will not let go of Tibet with its vast resources the Chinese need to fuel their economic growth. The water rights alone are essential to the Chinese nation as stated by a Chinese official. Note: we don't necessary want the DL back, first and foremost we want our country back, all of it!
iamlumin 3 years ago
U R STILL refusing to watch the videos that I've proposed, how Tibet was an 'oriental version of the Dark Ages' after 1911 and before 1950.
dcspc 3 years ago
1) I've seen the videos and more. I'm very aware of Tibet's history. Prior to 1950 there were no permanent Chinese residents in Tibet, a rep at a mission in Lhasa who was Chinese and even confirmed that Tibet was operating as an independent country.
iamlumin 3 years ago
2) During the invasion & also the uprising, Tibetan children were forced to shoot their parents, monks were forced to fornicate in the streets, & people were forced to use ancient scriptures as toilet paper. Before the cultural revolution just one of five foundries in mainland China reported that they melted down nearly 600 tons of gold and silver statues. Nearly 6,000 monasteries & places of worship were destroyed, ancient artifacts and scriptures either looted or brunt.
iamlumin 3 years ago
THAT was during the Cultural Revolution. Mainland China wasn't going on well either at that time, so was the rest of the world during the Cold War. Tourists were allowed to flow in and out of Tibet for the past 30 years and NONE of them, up until today, have complained on violence. China isn't yugoslavia, it will not be seperated by races, that was what yugoslavia did 50 years ago. Result? A dozen 'nations' declared independence, with conflicts between bosnia and serbia even until today.
dcspc 3 years ago
Tibet is held by force and that's a fact. China actually needs the resources and they've admitted it. The water is essential for hundreds of millions of people in Asia. Tourism is very controlled, you can't go around wherever you want, particularly Tibetans. Someone is always watching and/or listening. No one complains about violence because Tibetans are generally non-violent as a society. That's why it was so easy for the Chinese to take over.
iamlumin 3 years ago
I'm sure every single nation in the world would agree on that.
dcspc 3 years ago
Plenty of educated humans commit very stupid and hideous actions. Again, the hundreds of thousands of Chinese soldiers in Tibet should not be there because Tibet is not China. Tibet is Tibet and China is China.
iamlumin 3 years ago
And should Tibet gain independence, what will your 'government' be? The DL and their continuation of barbaric rituals? U never had a true government except for the theocratic government that the DL has imposed on the Tibetian peasants. I see no reason whatsoever in the continuation of a culture/religion that is recognised as an atrocity around the globe by international law AND by other sensible religions. Seriously, u don't know anything about yr own 'culture', full of bloodthirstiness and evil
dcspc 3 years ago
First of all it's none of China's business, as that complain about others in their business they invaded and occupy Tibet thus getting into Tibet's business. What do you think, they're in Tibet out of the kindness of their heart? Please! A new Tibetan govern. would be a democracy. The evil invaded Tibet in 1950, occupies, exploit, steals, tortures, and oppresses even today. 60 years of this crap is enough!
iamlumin 3 years ago

And your source of evidence comes from...? Cannibalism existed in Tibet which ended as near as the 19th century. Lamaism used human skin for disgusting rituals.
So if you say the rituals come from China (which is ridiculous), you are agreeing to the fact that Tibet belongs to China? Thank you for clearing up that point.

Ganeschar 2 years ago
And what about the Lamas that participated in the riots? Lamas are supposedly non-violent. In fact, one of the most peaceful religions. And here they are now, kicking shop doors, smashing windows and shouting like wild, uncivilized monkeys. I feel sorry for them as much as I feel sorry for the brainwashed, aggresive pro-Tibetian protesters. THEY are doing all the rioting. If u look carefully, not one nation wanted Tibet independent fully. All that they were asking was for a peaceful resolution.
dcspc 3 years ago
I know it must make you feel comfortable to stay with your fixed belief about Tibet. Yes, Tibetans including Lamas are growing weary after 60 years of oppression and occupation. They're like human beings that way. Chinese spit on Tibet, our culture, our land, our way of life every day and you're bitching about a riot. Give me a break! Take someone else's country, oppress the people and then complain when they don't go along with it. That's your logic?

You know prior to 1950 in China some people were reduced to eating their dead babies because of massive famines. In the old days having body parts used after your death was like a last act of charity. It was considered on last altruistic act. You really don't understand Tibetan culture and Chinese love to distort it and make it sound barbaric. It depends on how you define better. We are not free. We have lost our country. We are under constant oppression. Many have died. That's not better to me.
iamlumin 3 years ago
"...Most of Tibet was controlled by local rulers and who also wielded questionable and fleeting power. This lax system of rule in Tibet allowed for the creation and fruition of shamanic traditions, Tantric practices, and the importance of the lama. Under Chinese control, capable of maintaining a strict central government, this interplay of local traditions and their loose affiliations is removed, lessening the influence of lamas and raising skepticism towards Tantric practices." from wikipedia
dcspc 3 years ago
If you're using wikipedia as your source for truth and fact then you're in trouble. Anyone can submit data to wikipedia. Tibet's history is complex but on the day of the invasion there's no doubt that Tibet was an independent country with its own distinctive people, its own monetary system, postal service, passports, army, language, script, etc. That's the bottom line. Ancient history, the old Tibetan system, these are merely attempts to justify and rationalize invasion and occupation.
iamlumin 3 years ago 2
3) No is saying Tibet was perfect or that the Tibetan system was perfect. That is not the point. Things were and are far from perfect in many parts of the world. If it weren't for the fact that Tibetans are predominately non-violent and that they support the DL middle path then Tibet would be more or less like the middle east with suicide bombings and attacks daily. Most humans would become violent in the face of 60 years of oppression.
iamlumin 3 years ago
4) You don't seem to understand that Tibetans would have modernized to a degree anyway, just as the rest of the world has. Only with Tibetans in charge we would have done so without the destruction of our cultural identity and way of life, without destroying our great monasteries,
and torturing our people, without bulldozing our own indigenous footprint in our sacred homeland.
iamlumin 3 years ago
Every single nation in the world have tourist attraction sites. So what if foreign tourists are allowed to visit the potala palace. Millions of temples and monasteries are available around the globe, with Vatican City, the most sacred place of the Roman Catholics, available to every single person around the world. Even communist North Korea had tourist attraction sites. Do you mean that should Tibet gain 'independence', potala palace and other temples would be closed from tourists?
dcspc 3 years ago
I'm talking old men and women.
iamlumin 3 years ago

It's about control through fear.
iamlumin 3 years ago
Kinda like how ur country invaded Iraq? ''oppression'' and ''TORTURE'' ...''it's about control through ''FEAR'' ... kinda ironic isn't it?

Leave us in peace
iamlumin 3 years ago
I was wondering if Tibet would've climbed out of the chaos and theo-facism of the DL if China hasn't reoccupated Tibet in 1950. If u are stubborn enough as to point out that Tibetian culture is not a part of the Pan-Chinese cultural boundary, then shouldn't the Han, Yue, Wu, Manchu, Mongols, Shuis and the rest of them declare independence? If that happens all over the world where nations are decided according to their racial differences, humanity would collapse.
dcspc 3 years ago
Of course it would have. It had already begun. The DL was a child when he was in Tibet. He left as a very young man. Tibetan culture, language, script, religion, is all very distinctive. Look around, humanity is already collapsing. The environment is in big trouble with the biggest and fastest extinction in process in history. Mostly due to human impact. By the way, you didn't address one point I made in my five recent postings.
iamlumin 3 years ago
Meanwhile, everyone with eyes can see that the pro-tibetian protesters are much more violent that those who are supporting China. Check up videos during the olympic torch relay around the world. the protesters were literally attempting to snatch the torches from the atheletes, despite the simple truth that the olympic games are to have no political interference. Don't u all feel ashamed?
dcspc 3 years ago
Every government have had conspiracies and secrets hidden from their people. We admit that the CPC censors SOME truth to their people, but EVERY SINGLE NATION in the world does that. What about the watergate scandal in America, arguably the nation full of 'democratic'-extremists? If u are saying that the rest of the Chinese people are stupid and ignorant, the Tibetians weren't much better before 1950.
dcspc 3 years ago
That's accurate but we're not talking about all governments. The Chinese people are generally being stupid right now. I can provide hundreds of examples where the Chinese authorities have fooled the public. They reported they controlled the enthronement of the 14 DL as a way of convincing the public that they owned Tibet. They put a picture of a rep in the paper along with a story. Only problem is that the photo was taken 3 days after the enthronement. Many, many, lies that now run very deep.

Zzunbao 3 years ago
However just such action is, as long as it is performed by China central government there will be voices raised against it. Why? Well, China was never the ideal politic power allowed to grow by the Great-White-Civilisation. Look back into the history and you will see sense in my words.
But, as for now, it's also a matter of taking domestic tensions outwards, shifting attention to foreign affairs. It's an understandable political maneuver thats been practiced by almost all governments.
Zzunbao 3 years ago
*Sigh* You know why there were so many reinforcements sent in? Because before that, those brave soilders received orders that demanded them respond without violence. As the result, many young soilders were stabbed to death, stoned to death, been push off the towers and fall to their death. Facing such escalated situation, any sane authority would start move in anti-riot units to maintain peace and order.

What China is doing in Tibet today has nothing to do with Japan 70-60 years ago!
maomikimirai 3 years ago
Japan killed Koreans? Who taught you such a "story"? China has killed more than 1.2 million Tibetans in the past half century, but the population of Koreans doubled (2.3 times larger) only in 35 years under the rule of Japan!
maomikimirai 3 years ago

nadiaqu 3 years ago 2
you wonder why? because you don't know the history of Asia. Korea and China will never like japanese untill Japan apolagizes about world war 2 and tell the real history to japanese students. Japan is different from Germany. they are afraid to admit their huge mistakes.
puretrueage 3 years ago
Yes, Japan also joined the club of imperialism, which was only way to survive at that time.
"Imperialism" is one wave in the past and, of course, nothing to be praised today.
Korea has no right to criticise Japan. Korea was freed from China (by Japan) and became independent once, but failed to sustain herself.
maomikimirai 3 years ago
China was almost a colony of European empires, Korea was almost China's colony.
And Russia was about to prey on Japan, Japan needed to modernize its social systems hurriedly. Japan accepted whatever seemed good in western countries, e.g., modern laws and the separation of three powers.
Then, what was China doing? Korea? Did they make any efforts to fight against western empires? No -- instead they took every chance to cheat and deceive Japan.
maomikimirai 3 years ago
Why didn't CNN do a better job of telling how ethnic Chinese were hunted down and killed, some burned alive, by Tibetan radicals?
It's really sad, that they turned away from reporting this at the time. By now, most people incorrectly think the rioters were doing great things when they set girls on fire, stoned the girl in this video... it's really sick. This is why so many Chinese are mad at CNN... they knew the truth.
igorstrato 3 years ago
Chinese and Koreans are alike.
China, you can be a victim forever if you like, and we look at you with pity.
maomikimirai 3 years ago
Qing dynasty was not Han Chinese, they were Manchurian. =) We're happily living together in China today. You use the word "exploit"; can you elaborate what exactly you're talking about? One of the reasons, the Japanese would not like to capture by the west so they used every possible means to eliminate the old timers and became modernized during Meiji period. maomikimirai I suggest you find a quiet place and think. Please don't say anything more to hurt the Chinese and Korean. I forgive you.
wszgr 3 years ago

And thanks to the Sino-Japanese War, it took years and years for Chinese to recover and to catch up with its modern counterparts
monzai0 3 years ago
By saying how great Japan is today is ignoring what they did in the past. It is just like saying Hitler is so great that we love Germany. Go back to the Tibet issue. So what's the deal? Some monks in Tibet lead by Dalai Lama wants to declare independence, so they by order started to wreak a havoc locally (including burning down houses with people inside). Wait. Does that sound similar? Didnt that kind of local rebellion happen in France before? cont....
monzai0 3 years ago
You said how modernized Japan's social system is. Let's look closely. Japan does not have this kind of problem China does. Why? Cuz they are all Japanese. For Chinese, there are many different ethnicities, over 50 of them. Doesn't the US have African Americans and Asian Americans? If you just have one pure ethnicity, you probably wont have that kind of problem.
monzai0 3 years ago 3
Be aware that I am not criticizing Japan at all. I am just saying that this kind of problem has happened before in any other countries. But why now China's same problem makes the headline is because everyone now is talking about China and how its economy is rapidly changing to affect its western counterparts and Japan.
monzai0 3 years ago
Also, I respect Japanese today, and I think that Chinese should learn from their manners. Japanese are very polite I agree. But we cant just look at today. We need to figure it out how it has become what today is. Think about China as the developing nation that is perhaps on the same route Japan was going thru many years ago. The end does not justify the means. But often people only care about the end.
monzai0 3 years ago 2
Chinese and Koreans are alike.
They always want to be "victims" and blame others.

If the Japanese really love peace and freedom, work with the Chinese to make a better future instead of criticizing them.
wszgr 3 years ago
Do you know how many different cultures making up today's China? Do you know how many different dialects are being spoken in China? We are not preferred mono-culture like Amaterasu's descend. Unification, stability and economy are important factors to make everyone in China enough fed and educated including the Tibetan. Would you people give the Chinese a break so they can rebuild their country and get ready to join the gobal community? What good does it make to keep criticizing them?
