  • What? It's Dane Cook, wait! No! It's Tony motherf*****g NOyes. YEAH! This guy front's one of the best cover bands in AZ League of the Forgotten Saints.

  • how do you do outward and inward screams? I've always sucked at that, cuz when i try to open my throat up and project it, I get a really clean sound, but I want that raspy sound. Any tips, man?

  • Thanks you really helped me hit some higher notes. Ya' rock!

  • @Arenz7Link You're very welcome...glad I could help!:)

  • how do you rasp and do falsetto?

  • Good and informative video! :)

I have a problem. I want to learn distorted singing like you do. I am able to to the rough sound (almost the robot voice) but just on the lower notes. When I try to sing higher notes with distortion my voice breaks or it is very airy and I don't feel very comfortable with it. It seems like I can't use the distortion on those high notes.

Have you any tips for me? I would be very glad if you could help me. :)

  • Your last name sounds so ironic, seeing your talent

  • the only problem i have with singing is that my throat hurts and gets tired the longer and higher i sing. i only sing avenged sevenfold and theres and for songs like afterlife, bat country, and beast and a harlot, towards the midle and end my voice starts to hurt and i fail:/, can u please point about wat part of the video i should pay attention to the most?

  • @stigmeaner21 Sounds to me that you may be keeping most of the sound and air channeled in your throat...it needs to come out through the throat, mouth, nose...whole head! Also if you are not takiing in as much air as you can throughout the whole song you will run low and strain the voice half way through. For instance try to keep your lungs full....take a breath in every chance you get to instead of going on to the next line without doing so. Hope this helps!

  • that's awesome tony! haha i'm learning how to sing by myself and it helped a lot...thank you!!!

why don't we make a Virtual Band tutorial?

I think in record tips of how to record drums and mixing all up...

we could make something together to help people...

  • You should do a Deep Purple cover.

  • Amazing stuff man, Love your range.

  • Are you working on A Little Piece of Heaven as i told ya? :D

  • teach us more ~ plsplspls~ XD i love it

  • i am a fan!

  • Really good tips man :D Did it take you long to be able to sing like you do now?

  • Hope they help. Alwasy kinda had a knack for singing, just had to work to improve it...still doing that today..lol. Been singing seriously for about 20 years now...I'm gettin old!! Thanks for watching.

  • i can sing very high, like the darkness or chris cornell in the 90s before i get into the falsetto, but i cant seem to get the roughness. Hopefully i can work on it this way!

  • Dude you are an excellent vocalist and a good teacher. I had private voice lessons for about two years. I often damage my voice because I try to sing high notes in my chest voice. I haven't really been able to master the mixed voice yet. Any suggestions?

  • Thank you for the compliment..it means alot. Please try the excercise with your throat open...like a yawn. This will help you with the highs. Most do clamp the throat as you get higher. I think you'll find your voice will not be sore and if you get in the habbit of it, it will get eaiser. Good luck and keep rockin!

  • This is indd helping me :D

but I keep sounding like umm...

    lil bit donedeaf ish :P

I'm a crap singer ^-^" (I can keep a low tone tho XD)

  • Why have you been to the Hospital

  • Thank you and I'm glad it helps! Thanks for the recovery wishes as well........can't wait to hear YOU scream:) Keep it up!

  • Holy Shit...You made a vid of this O__O'|l!!

I understood everything: In musical terms I guess you mean use the mixed voice and vocal fry.

    Thanks man, your friggin awesome!

...time to learn fry screaming : ]

    (exhales ftw)

  • Glad it makes sense man. your email is one of the reasons I made this. Hope it helps ya and keep practicing,,,k?

  • hey can you look at my Afterlife Vocal Cover? can you tell me what im doing wrong?

  • Haha, thanks!

Maybe when I'm good enough at vocals we can make a virtual band cover song of some kinda System of a Down duo or something.

    ~All the best man!

  • Hi Tony! I'm a guitarist, and I'm a big fan of what you do. All your videos are awesome! You sing fucking well! You're a good musician!

    Please keep singing! You rock!

  • Great vid man. Definitely a great help.

Hope the hospital stay wasn't for anything serious..

  • Just a fucked up infection in my right shoulder/SIDE..getting better. Was also in my sinuses so it was messin with the voice too! Thanks for the concern dude!

  • Oh damn. Sounds like a hell of a party. Get some rest man. You shouldn't be making vids, teaching us kids to sing while your sick haha.

    Get well soon.

  • Very helpful for a lead singer in an upcoming band :) Thanks bro

  • Cool man..best of luck with the band!

  • I guess the most important thing is breathing. Then after that you have to use your nasal voice to get either the growling sound or whatever sound you need.

With practice, you should be able to get vibrato and all that.

Tony, how long have you been singing for? Practice every day?

  • Yep breathing and opening the throat is the best start. I have been singing for 20 years...sincde I was a kid. I don't practice every day but I do sing somthing. I think the best practice I had was jamming with a band...but I still practiced at home. Then I would try to bring it in to the band jam and live performances. Thanks for the comment!

  • Oh damn. 20 years. I've heard your voice gets mature and gets higher, more powerful as you get older.

Jamming with a band is great. I do it too.

    Thanks for the info.

  • thank you tony =)

  • You're very welcome:)

  • lol, thats great! Hope everythings all right with your arm.

  • Thanks! Yeah it's getting better..got 2 more weeks of home I.V.'s to clear it up. Still had to make the video though...no rest man!

  • effin sick

  • First... >>
