  • damn this book made me angry, sad, but also hopeful that if she could overcome all that then anyone can make something of themselves if they just have determination and a dream. god, its a great story.

  • @300daysandnights do you know if her mom is still alive? I loved this book too, one of my favorites!

  • @EasyBakeSmiles I'm not sure.

  • @300daysandnights Oh okay thanks anyways

  • amazing book. i cried at the end!

  • I just finished The Glass Castle during my week long vacation in the Southwest. How fun to drive through the places that she mentioned in the book. I drove through Battle Mountain, Nevada today on my way home to the SF Bay Area...how wonderful to think of the book as I drove through the desert...

  • The Glass Castle was a heartwrenching and brilliant read. I can't wait to see what Walls will write in the future.

  • Having also lived a strange childhood, I identified closely with Jeannette, Lori, Brian and Maureen. The hardest part of coming FROM somewhere different than the norm was reconciling my own feelings of "that was just the way it was" with the reaction of others around me. I quickly learned not to talk about it.

  • Now I share with a lot of laughter and my acceptance of my parent's shortcomings and recognition of some of their bigger than life qualities is no longer seen as causing ME to be strange. While my book is third person and muchly removed--not a memoir, it was a great help in my ability to communicate the nobility of humanity, even when the human involved is being a total dumb ass. Nowdays I make people laugh, not cry.

  • i love this book i think it would be good if they made a movie!!!

  • Having spent the better of 3 days digesting this book I walk away completely inspired. It conjured up vast memories for me; a violent, controling father, no food (at times also eating out of other kids' lunch boxes) and constant moving (I attended 15 different schools). Simply said, Jeannette Walls is the real deal. Hopeful against all odds.

  • I LOVE her book! It's so amazing to finally see her and her mother in real life, and not just in my head. I'm reading it for the third time now hehe. :)

  • Great video, loved seeing her mother and her mother's art. It's just as I imagined from the book.

  • I am still reading the book and I think it is so awesome! So sad though.

  • amazing book, Im reading the book and its amazing!

Its so weird but I like how very differnt her parents are...

  • I havent read the book I had better research first,

  • read it

  • I kind of want to sock her mother in the face after reading that book.

  • Jeanette had a Fastinating childhood that she has shares so lovingly in this autobiography. So to heck with the theory that education is the way out of poverty. Experience and wisdom are the essentials needed to survive and the first step in attaining a healthy successful life.

  • ...and why was this featured?...

  • spammer

  • i dig........

  • stupid, you did not know mother homeless..shem

  • LMAO, thats horible

  • I give this video an A+ in the masterbation catagory. More lotion please!!!!!

  • I'd like to be able to write my horrible childhood with humor, but I can't. Glad she could.

  • Glass Castle's on my summer reading list for school

  • You will love it

It is seriously one of the best books ever written

    Beautiful, you're lucky

  • type kadacine in the seach box yo and so many unicorns will come to you in your dreams

  • I read this book a few months ago. It's stunning--powerful, funny, courageous, painful, uplifting. It will enrich your life!

  • This is an excellent book. It is written very well and Jeannette tells it like it is! I loved it and sent it to my daughter.

  • I've read this book and it's marvellous

  • I concure!

  • Nicely produced internet ad.

  • Her book was really fantastic.

  • I definitely want to read this book....

  • Jeannette Walls, I saw you on The Colbert Report! I was excited to hear Stephen say "Jeannette" because that's my name too. :P

  • Jeannette Walls taught a million readers that it's the world that's strange, not us.

  • dinner/svm-thyme$?
