  • Is it just me, or is it true that when we look back to the middle ages, we are far more likely to connote images of Gothic architecture as apposed to the classical style? At school when I was taught about medieval Britain we were always shown dark images of pointed arches and ribbed vaults. Any thoughts?

  • @cutecookiez87 ...continued from previous

of building to an aesthetic and a style, which was the Rayonnant or High Gothic style. It was only in the Renaissance (and very late in Britian, because during the Tudor times we were still very much under the influence of the gothic mindset) that Classical architecture began to become popular from the Italian Renaissance of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.

Sorry if that was rather over-blown, but you did ask for thoughts...!
