This is due to the doubling of prices of fertilizer, seed, and pesticide. Also most people do not realize that for every dollar they spend on food, farmers receive a mere 22 cents. I just had black co-worker of mine claim that those people who claim blacks voted for Obama because of his race, only say that because that's why they are voting against him. Farmers are not making giant bucks from ethanol. Ethanol companies are. Farmers are making roughly the same amount of money they were making in the past. This is due to the doubling of prices of fertilizer, seed, and pesticide. Also most people do not realize that for every dollar they spend on food, farmers receive a mere 22 cents. But, don't get me wrong, I do believe in the free market. Ethanol subsidies should be stopped.

Sorry, it was a reply to an earlier post. (I hate the way it puts all new posts on top, even if they were replies.) But yes, I agree it may not be the best idea (especially corn ethanol). But as a chemist, I can tell you that hydrogen is definitely not the answer. It takes more energy to break the H-O bond than it does to burn hydrogen.
Three laws of thermodynamics:
You can't win.
You can't break even.
You can't cash out.
