OK so NFL players wear pads. However, there are NO rubgy players that 310, 6'5 & run a 40 yrds in 4.4 seconds. NFL players are the fastest & strongest players in the world, period. It is violent otherwise you wouldn't have guys become paralyzed even while wearing pads. Sure, Rugby & Australian football players are tough. They play with broken noses & such but they are slower & rarely are they left in a one one one situation (like catching a pass) which often result in some ridiculous hits.
