I was there. It was my first ever concert and I was 16 years old. I thought that all gigs would be as good as this...I was wrong (apart from Queen, who just eclipsed the Quo)...
parfitt was scared that this was the last time they would perform these songs! think he was right as now this great song gets about 2 minutes in the new set!!!! do it properly like the great original rockin quo band or don't bother.
Saddest day of my life!! I was 18 and went to about 20 gigs on the End Of The Road tour and remember this like it was yesterday..BRILLIANT gig but getting off the car park at the end was longer than the gig!! AWESOME BAND.
@Meatloaforever . . . . . . i'm pretty sure when I saw them at Hammersmith in '79 AFTER they did Wembley (which was the first time I saw them - 14 ) the version they did was close to half an hour. Fucking amazing band live. I can't believe they havn't got John & Alan for a real re-union...even if they did do it for the money, what the hell, it would be fantastic. Having said that, Alan 'n' John probably listen/see them and think 'fuck that, no way) Alan/John were the 'BALLS' behind the band ...
@Meatloaforever This performance of the song was actually cut short in the editing of the DVD. The full version is about 20 minutes or so. I'm not sure how many times they did this but I remember them playing the song for just a little bit longer than half an hour once. Got it on bootleg somewhere.
@bullshitdetective1 . . . Abso-fucking-lutely......that and the 'Hello' album......and 'Piledriver'....and 'On The Level' . . . . 'Quo' good but so is 'Dog Of Two Head'......:-)
@FunkingHostile this version is still fantastic..'cos it's shows everyone, that Quo the one and only super live band is.........since 40 years......hope to see them once again in germany near my home....since the concert in montreux i only can say.......much older.....much better....only 7 days..then the new album is mine...:-)
I was 17 when i went to this tour. 2 nights at southampton gaumont. my dad picked me up after the gig and said that didnt sound to bad when he was standing outside waiting for the show to end. i took him to see quo in '97 at bornemouth. he was 67 years old and he loved it.
i was at this concert--one of the greatest days of my life. appeared on the official video albeit crowd shots. the greatest band of their type and 26 years on they are still kicking arse. fabulous band-one of a kind.
one of the best from rhe rest up thier with big fat momma backwater just take me and roadhouse blues quo at the best try to get the quo live album superb from the glasgow appollo
THE best song from quo.it should appear on all of the quo g/hits albums but the fact that it is so song stuffed that idea i think.even on the hello album it was about 9 minutes long.
rossi is the most gifted guitar player on the planet and its great that they are still quoin it today.
stuff your stones, they are good in there own right but quo has been underated all these years.
even in australia there is not one band past or present that i can think of that can make the guitar talk like that.
Was at this gig as a spotty 19 year old, Boiling hot day - got sun stroke !! Shed a tear as I left as I thought I'd never see Quo ever again 'live' but they're still going & so am I, This is just the definitive Quo song so it's on the playlist for my funeral. Rock on boys !!

they should just do a full gig of just this song you could rock to this all night long facking awesome ROLL WITH THE QUO BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABY
In a fantasy world, i'd have loved to have seen Jeff Rich in the band along side Alan Lancaster. With all due respect to Pete, Jeff was a far more technical drummer and would have nailed this song!!!!!!!!!
I was there that day. What a gig. I,m married now with 2 kids and this is still one of the best days of my life, and your right rossi is a brilliant lead guitarist and very under rated.
QUO - the best and still the best) - LIVE band I ever saw !! . Simple? -= yeah maybe but YOU try and play it like they do for 1.5 hrs - 2hrs straight.....
Francis is quite clearly off his rocker at the start lol - glad that it wasn't the end of the road. Anybody catching Francis on his solo tour this summer?
Glasgow Apollo e o t r. tour 1984 saw real tears in Rick's eyes that night and in the eyes of many a good session in Lauders Bar before gig ensured high spirits going in but stunned silence going home on the train this was the end ....really it was!!! must have been a wee bad dream me thinks! now. ....Rock On .Jimmy Down Unda!!!!
The (approx) 30 minute version of 4500 times I saw Quo perform at Hammersmith was '79 when they did (I think) 3 nights at Wembley then announced they were doing the 7 night run at Hammersmith. I was 14 and they blew my f*ckin' 'ead orf
rock and roll, man! they're the best. simple as. people can argue but they've been doing it for 45 years in 2010. hardest working band ever and it show's. awesome.
I once saw Quo do (if I can remember) a nearly 30 min version of this back in the day at Hammersmith Odeon. I may be wrong but from what I can remember it was a fucking long version. What a tune !
This was the last line up that was any good. Pete Kircher is a friggin good drummer and was a great replacement for JC.......
Wish it was, They keep saying though that the Negatives for this show have been destroyed. Maybe someone could make a half decent DVD out of the VHS vids but thats about it.
@craggers agreed, such a decent player, should be in the rock guitar hall of fame or whatever its called, good song, and great concert....i managed to pick up the second part that this song is off on betamax, lol....really old
@craggers I thank you for this video so much. Quo still makes fun fun fun. It is so awesome. This song is one of their best. I love long songs und good guitar soli.
@craggers I used to watch this video every other week when i was growing up! thank you so much for posting it i bumped into this by accident and have been happily sitting looking back at the sheer amazing band that is Quo. Thanks, Craggers. I had forgotten how good Quo were live. I saw them twice in the early 80s -some of their studio stuff was a bit iffy but live they were a different class - how can anyone not have a good time rocking out to this is beyond me.
The two official videos from this gig are for sale on Ebay in the same auction "End of the Road" and "More from End of the Road". Sorry for the plug...great band!
I still love this song and this sound. Quo are one of the best bands of all time!!. When you hear Quo you have a smile and a great booggie woggie in your mind!
First time I saw Quo do this was live at Bingley Hall, Stafford in 1976....it was the same tour that the "Live" album was recorded at The Apollo, Glasgow!!
They were awesome then....still awesome now !!
Going to see them in Nottingham this December!! :o)

Thanks, Craggers. I had forgotten how good Quo were live. I saw them twice in the early 80s -some of their studio stuff was a bit iffy but live they were a different class - how can anyone not have a good time rocking out to this is beyond me.

First time I saw Quo do this was live at Bingley Hall, Stafford in 1976....it was the same tour that the "Live" album was recorded at The Apollo, Glasgow!!
They were awesome then....still awesome now !!
Going to see them in Nottingham this December!! :o)
