  • Arigatou! But one question, if you say the phrase casually to like, a professor, would that be considered rude or disrespectful?? :S

  • I LOVE THIS CHANNEL. Arigatou gozaimasu for the lessons konomi san. ^_^

  • You are amazing. *chu

  • I thought you can say nan des ka? instead of dou shimashita ka? Does it matter which one is used or which is more perferable?

  • what exactly does moshi moshi means??

  • @s3xyScorp "moshimoshi" means " Hello" on the phone. When we pick up phone calls, or when we call someone, we say "hello?" which is same as "moshimoshi" in japanese. However, this "hello" is only used during phone calls.

  • @s3xyScorp I'm not an expert, and I know you've already been answered by the uploader, but something I heard on another good Japanese learning source that it MIGHT...POSSIBLY have originated from the humble version of the verb "to say" which is "moushimasu"

Similar to english when they supposedly used to test out the phone line they would say "HI...low" and this became hello, except English uses hello all the time, not just on the phone

  • I thought konnichiwa meant good afternoon, konbanwa meant good evening, and ohayoo gozaimasu meant good morning...

  • question: what is katakana and hiragana? are they difficult to learn-puru puru?

  • @mahounekoshojou3 katakana and hiragana are parts of the japanese writing system along with kanji and romaji. Both katakana and hiragana use characters where each corresponds to a sound. Example か = ka. Hiragana is used for native Japanese words when kanji is not available or not often used. Katakana is mainly used for writing foreign words in Japanese (words brought over from English for example)
