You were right, this obviously was the problem, as it came further in the process now than it has ever done before. Earlier, I got the 1604 error, this time around it ends up with the 1600 error. So, a step forward but not completely there.

heyy i got my ipod for chrissy today and tried to jailbreak it now it wont recognise proply on itunes and i chose restore or watevr it is and it takes a bit then i get this error but on my ipod the screen is black the whole time someone plz reply as this was my christmas present thx heaps in advanced

just go to apple and say i tried to update to 3.1.2 and it just didnt restore and come back on and they should be able to fix it for a small price but not sure cos i heard sum times they can tell if u jailbroke it and they will take it off you for violating theyre software???....

Its in DFU mode, however 1601 pops up. SUggestions?

Workin 1601 fix.. Put iphone/ipod on DFU PWNd with iReb, open up itunes and shift restore your firmware. After the extracting then it will restore, after that you will hear the USB connection sound (the sound wen u plug in a usb device) wen u hear that, kill Itunes.exe with task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) keep ireb runing, re open itunes again and shift restore again, this time ur iphone/ipod DFU will light up :).. once again kill itunes after usb sound. then run itunes again n repeat, FIXED! !

@kamboi When you kill itunes and re open the ipod is not reconised i have to keep putting it into dfu eveytime i open itunes.

that's all great, but i know myself how to get my iTouch into DFU.

I'm just getting 1601's all the time, when using any kind of firmware (custom i used for jailbreaking, original 2.1.1 by apple.. anything actually)

Hey guys, i found by chance the solutions to this problem, or at least it worked for me.

at first i got either 1601 or 1604 error when finishing the jailbreak, i downloaded quickfreedom 1.2.0(latest version) and it stopped

then, at the same point of the process,i got another error (13 if i remember well) and i solved it by just unplugging the usb ipod cable and plugging it to OTHER usb port

gawd... your iPod is fucked... well almost. Dont ever pull it out when the screen goes white when jailbreaking. That means the Patch is being applied.

error 13...what happens is that I follow the tutorial exactly, and it fixes up the firmware for restoring or whatever, the one that takes a long time (the first thing it does). I can always do that one. but right after it finishes with that, it says that it is preparing my iPod for restoring, and it does that for maybe a minute, my iPod gets the apple icon it like it is about to restore, but then the little box pops up saying error 13 and everything stops

I tryed to jail brake my ipod with vista and i it didnt work i have to restore my computer and my ipod and than i tryed with windows xp and forgot to update it to 2.2. and it was still 2.1.1. and it didint work so i thought i would just restore it and im gitting this error and i followed this and still gitting the same thing you jailbrake fuckd up my ipod lol plz help me fix this i dont have a working ipod and i dont want to. send it in.
