@dextrogiro you don't "Have" to have a midi keyboard but it will be much easier. If you're using Pro Tools you can always draw the notes/chords into the midi editor window.

@soundmob100 if you have no figured it out yet...go to the bar that you inserted (xppand2) and click on the drop arrow where it says "regions" go to notes and there you go

it's a factory patch for Xpand2, you have to have Pro Tools 8 to use Xpand2.

If you have Xpand2 already the patch is called Siberia located in the Soft Pads Category

Getting an mbox 2 factory next month but I'm concerned as to whether it will work with Windows 7? I'm using Home Premium as well, I've been assured it will, but still the concerns are there?

@Blackheathguy I'm a mac guy but I've used PT on windows for years in the past, it was more of making sure you had the right service packs and tons of ram then it totally not working with a certain OS. If you want to be reassured again, go to the digidesign site and hit up the DUC forums. Tons of info on compatibility.

i have a (KORG) microKONTROL Keyboard how would i get it to play in the new pro tools 8 to control all the virtual instruments in it

@GCGR40 hook it up via midi through a Pro Tools interface (digi003, Mbox) etc. Create an instrument track in a PT session and open up Xpand2 on that track. There's a few things that may come up as far as assigning midi inputs and channels to each instrument but that's the simple answer

The patches are custom sounds that I've created by combining multiple patches and adding fx. It's easy to create and save to your own custom soundbank in Xpand2, so I recommend always saving patches to your own folder
