@superiansuper It's a chromatic tuner, so you can tune it however you want. If you want to use the polytune feature you can set the tuner directly to Eb so the polytune knows you'll be on Eb. Really easy. I just bought one and it is accurate, and doesn't mess up the signal. I'm not sure about its road-worthiness yet, but it's simple and looks rugged.
Umm, just by training your ear to hear the intervals between the notes that a "typical" guitar tuning sounds like, you don't need a new fancy pansy tuner. You just need a pedal note, for an example from a piano. I think I stopped using tuners after 4 years of playing, and I've never had any problems. Oh yeah, guitar is btw tuned in fourths. But I have to say, I almost bought one of those once.
@TRCOES So an open G up to an open B is a fourth? Strangely all of this time I had thought it was a major third. I use a tuner so the audience doesn't have to listen to me tuning, BTW.
@swardmusic PolyTuneTM offers unprecedented visibility using an ambient light sensor, which automatically matches the brightness of the LEDs to its surroundings. (:
@monkiky82 - It's for six string guitars, but give it a go? (and tune without your lowest string to begin with, it wont show up on the display) I think it's a bit of a long shot, to be honest, but hey, you never know until you try, right?
So I guess a 5-string bass drop tuned a half step (Bb) is out of the question for this tuner which is sad. It should at least go to A so it can cover almost everyone's tuning habits. :)
So I guess a drop tuned 5-string bass by a half-step is out of the question for this tuner since it only goes down to B. They should make it where it goes down to at least A so it can cover almost everyone's tuning. :)
i think im gonna wait till they bring a new model out with new features such as being able to tune in dropped D or maybe even add your own tunings via USB
It is correct that 12 strings are not covered in Polytune mode. For several reasons. The two B strings and the two high E strings are tuned identically on a 12 string. We don not have the technology to distinguish between two identically tuned strings on a single jack-plug. If you know how, please feel free to let us know! BUT - all 12 strings can be tuned using the Chromatic mode.
YES the tuner mutes the output while you tune. NO - PolyTune doesn't have built in mic.
a couple of things (constructive critisim) it doesn't do open tunings, it doesn't mute the sound when you tune? or does it?, it also doesn't have an inbuilt mic, if it had these three things it would be perfect, thinking of getting one but not sure because of the reasons mentioned
lol 1:28 "A kick in the A440" Do you see what they did there?
They punned at A55 (which is ass) with an 0 for hole, then made it A440, which its a tuning pitch. Kick in the a550 / a440 ? its genius. these sons of bitches shouldbe given an oscar for best writing in the universe.
@pkPUX PolyTune supports dropped standard tuning where all the strings are dropped by the same amount - from Hendrix-approved Eb all the way down to B (and everything in between).
If you want to use say dropped D tuning, you can either just use the chromatic tuner or strum the first 5 strings and check the low D in chromatic mode.
@tcelectronic Since this tuner has a usb stick, can't you give this a software-update where polyphonic tuning is possible for all "One-Finger Power Chord" drop tunings. (And possibly other common tunings.)
How about if you have a floating tremolo guitar? Ever tune one string up to pitch only to have another string go flat? This tuner will tell you immediately if that has happened. I consider this a breakthrough product. I have a brand new PRS with a trem and I'm having a tough time getting used to a floating tremolo again. This will be a godsend tuner for me.
@gaud2029@gaud2029 When using a floydrose or any other floating trem system. If you tune the strings from thickest to thinnest...EADGBE,(in that order)the guitar will NEVER be in tune when your done(due to the floating bridge)But if you tune using the eedbag system which is tuning the strings in this order, thickest E Thinnest E the D,B,A,and G strings your floating bridge will have even balance on it at all times.Try it it works great...
For all you dumbasses that say it wouldnt save you time, it blantently would!
Because you can strum and easily see which strings are out if tune and see which ones you dont need to touch.
And even if all of them are out of tune its just as good as any other boss one or something like that except its alot more simple to use, read and genrally understand.
And its also for basses and changes colour depending on the light situation, which im sure will save battery.
I've tried it already in a music shop, and came up with all these "objections your honour". TC representatvies where there showing it. Conclusion, buy this pedal IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY PEDAL TUNER ALREADY. Buy it for the display changing brightness according to surroundings. The single string mode is as good as any other pedal, and use that. When it can track a 12 string and keep individually strings separated, I'll be impressed. Really. A 12 string takes ages to tune.
@MrMemag I do have one now, if only for the display light changes which was the deal maker for me. It's a quick and dirty stage tuner, but I use it still only in single string mode. In polyphonic mode I do tune each string at once, still, this pedal haven't changed that. For nitpicking intonation (not doing that onstage) I use the Sonic Research ST-200 instead. The TC eats batteries, since they're running already when plugge in. The ST-200 only drains battery when it's on. Not when plugged in .
also, if you have a guitar that needs quick checking between each song on stage, chances are that's the guitar that needs maintenance. I have. I check tuning before the gig, then it's all set and go, and no matter how much I whammy, bend and abuse the strings, it's in tune. All through the night. It's possible believe it or not. Still, TC asks "do you still tune one string at a time?" Yes, and so do you too. This pedal wont change that. Period.
Sorry, this is not a tuner that tunes all strings at once. You still have to turn on every tuning peg individually for each string. Only Gibson Robot Guitar and TransPerformance system will do this for you. Period. If all 6 strings are out of tune, the polyphonic mode will NOT SAVE YOU TIME at all, since no guitar has the sustain that lasts that long. You have to strum again, ending up using as much time as it will take on a regular tuner pedal. Buy it if you dont have a pedal tuner already.
@Henkehakansson Yes I think it's a case of the technology is there so lets apply it to a tuner. It's a great idea for the POG but pretty redundant stuff on a tuner.
This product is not a waste. It is so much faster to strum once and find out that you only have one string out of tune, rather than going through each string individually. Since it is competitively priced, it can't be considered a waste.
@SpringfieldMusic For years now I have been put off starting a band for the very reason of how time consuming single string tuning is. I read somewhere that it has taken some people up to an entire minute to tune their instrument. No one. Repeat NO ONE has a minute to spare in this cut throat, dog eat dog, no holds barred, violent, hate filled, backwards, modern world.
Thank you PolyTune™ You have saved me a lot of heart ache and pain.
i could offer the idea that it doesn't come with 6 arms to tune each string at the same time so it really isn't that much faster.
but to your idea about checking tuning between songs, that I could see, give em a strum and you know which one or two might be out and you can go straight to them.
that I can dig, but also if it's a good tuner that is affordable then that makes it worth something right there!
Mostly people who do gigs have the processors which already have the tuner... and it doesn't take that much time putting your feet on the paddle to tune it individually... i thought it'd be something like robot guitar that gibson has introduced but it's not.
And is you really want to utilize your money you can always upgrade something else that is not present...
I hope it gives you a better idea why i called this product a WASTE
Is it really a waste? I see a lot of people using Pitchblacks and Boss Tuners. This is more accurate, comes at only $100 and actually does speed up the tuning process. In addition to that, it has a USB port for future updates. I don't play processors on stage so this would be glorious on my pedalboard. Also, I'm a tuning fanatic.
tunnbilla: "'Mostly people who do gigs have the processors which already have the tuner..."
yeah but some of those are pretty lame and inacurate. Eg V-Amp Pro is virtually unuseable.
PLUS...if you use an acoustic as well an electric in your sets, you'll need a send from your mixer to a tuner for ALL guitars. To have it just across your electric's signal path would be limiting. I ouput to a tuner thru an aux send and can send any mixer channel to the tuner easily .
@tunnbilla considering it is competitively priced against tuners that can't do as much, i don't see how this is a waste of money. plus the idea of polyphonic tuning is awesome especially considering that other tuners pick up overtones and other harmonics that can hinder ones ability to see the correct readout on the tuner, id say this thing is revolutionary.
@lanerant Well atleast you can tell if you need to tune or not after a song. Because after setting up my guitar really well, I still check my tuning after every song. It is usually a waste of time because my strings are sitting so well that I don't need to retune. This speeds things up.
