Thanks for sharing the Rodriguez love! Yes,he's still big in South Africa. I was so surprised when I was told that so many other countries have never heard of this WONDERFUL artist! The man is a legend! And ALWAYS will be!!!
I bought a album back in the early 80's called Rodriguez-At his best. It's got 5 tracks from "cold fact",3 from "coming from reality" and 3 not previously recorded. Also saw him at the Festival theatre,Adelaide after that. A great artist that never sold his soul just to get filthy rich.
First heard this bloke back in the late 70's. Had him on cassette ... wore it out & lost the music for years. Must get it back it's timeless & still relevant for today.
I'm 23... Love the album Cold Fact... certainly in my top 10. It's one of those rare albums that doesn't have a single bad song on it. I can't thank the friend who recommended it to me enough.
I was fortunate enough to see him when he came out to SA. Best concert I ever been to.. although we had to carry some friends out because of all the joints going up and down !!! LOL
Thanks a lot. As a South African resident of some 38 years, Rodriguez is for me a living reality. If you fail to find this great guy and performer anyplace else, you can look for him inside my mind.
...I love the squeaks and crackles. It's all a part of life!
aah nice so Rodriguez had a following in Aussie too. Didn't know that, in SA he was big, I think cold fact is even seen as a cult classic. strange that he never really made it in his home country the US
I just played this to my dad over my phone, it is the first time he has listened to it he sais in 20 years, many memories it brings back to him.. he was pleased, thank you.
WELL DONE guitardude1050, this man is a LEGEND & there is "message in everyone of he's songs" more people need to discover him I first listened to him in "1975"
I love it! Sixto Diaz Rodriguez! I heard it on National Public Radio! It's going to be released again in the US! Yippee!! It's like from the 60's, man! : )
I am going to give it to my hippie mom! I'm going to listen to it first! : ) heh heh
Record players were the best. I have grown to hate CD's. Both the discs and the players just do not perform as according to the hype we were led to believe. Records and their covers were something very special. Love this song!
Love it! I've started doing a few covers of his, trying to show how good his music is, check them out on my page. Let me know if you like them or if I should just give up ;).
I remember hearing this album for the first time in Australia in 1990, great stuff! I never thought that I'd ever hear it again. There are copies new & used of this cd (cold fact) available through Amazon.
LoL.. yo Guitardude play Sugarman for me next will ya ;) I thought that I knew all the great music from the 70's until I went back packing down under in Oz. I met a dude from Brisbane who introduced me to Rodriguez and a few others way back in 90'
Genius. What a legend, what an artist. Everyone should have 'At his best' in their collection. Possibly one of the greatest collection of songs ever. Get into it

Got to see the legend at Sheperds Bush
He is genuinely one the greatest musicians that I've been blessed to see live...
Dig the fact that he uses a South African back up band.
Long live Rodriguez :-)

After The Fact is much better album on all levels. Cold Fact is for the heroine addicts. After The Fact is pure musical/ lyrical genius. Fact!
