Well, obviously. What I'm saying is, do you really think that JUST 1 of 5 white McCain voters did so because the idea of a black president scares them? Or that JUST 1 of 5 black Obama voters did so simply because he's black? I'm not making a statement that is racist, rather I'm saying that I have little faith in most people's thought processes.
how many times has tom brokaw been on this week? oh wait, I think the answer's zero. but that's a good example because... oh wait, I don't think that's a good example at all.
btw, zakaria used to be a regular panelist, but then he got his own show.
The O Generation. Nice. Its funny, I'm 25 years old, and if somebody asked me if I would see a president of color in my lifetime, I would have said, absolutely. This is why the young voters were so quick to jump with Obama, we always believed it was possible.
I am hoping that we are headed for a new America that can not be sliced and diced the way Karl Rove was able to in the prior 2 elections. My hope is tempered by the fact that McCain did still win 58 million votes, so for all he did wrong, he still did something right. And if Obama is somehow perceived as a failure in four years... Palin will have a real shot at winning.
I commented in another vid that 'Americans' pride in their own ignorance is stunning'. Palin represents that enough to win.
Something worth pointing out in reference to Reagan's ability to engender new Republicans... When Reagan got elected he was 69. Obama is 47. So not only will this 'O generation' be around for a long time, but it's leader will be influencing this country for potentially the next 30 years.
Republicans need to return to their true conservative ideals if they want to have any chance of regaining... well... anything.
Agreed... and I did get a glimpse of why John McCain did so well, in his concession speech. He gained my respect, and many others, as well. Palin did a disservice to an honorable candidate, and p-whipped some of their 'baser' members into a fatalistic frenzy. McCain's numbers steadily dropped over the last weeks, since many center-right members didn't want to associate with that mindset. I managed to change a few minds, myself.
80% of people said race wasn't a factor? Cut the crap. Many whites voted McCain because he's white, and many blacks voted Obama because he's black.

and the fact that Obama is black didn't prevent him from being elected.
