  • Flawless. One of the great lost classics - the song and the band.

  • Absolutely loved this band - this was the best thing I ever saw on the tube - was on the same label with them in the 80's and always thought these should have been more successful - fantastic guitar playing and Mena was just brilliant.

  • @musicfan77 Thats right mate! I think it was around the same time as we were doing the Eurovision , that I first heard the Band on Jule's show! I've spent the last 30 yrs thinking ...Why did they stop? Most Fun songs that anyone ever released!

  • I just love this!!!! it's taken me ages to find it!!!{^_^}

  • @symba71 : ) its just sooo good, so glad I found it too!

  • Ha! I thought I'd imagined this! I have been searching from time to time for the last 25 years for this.

  • How this band never made it I will never know. Like most, I saw them once on The Tube and never forgot them. They were as brilliant then as they still are now, some 27 years later. What a waste we didnt see so much more of them.

  • So glad to have found this... I have the 7" single. The B-side "Blues Blues Blues" is something else... how come this band never made it huge... a crying shame. We demand a CD/MP3 release.

  • Hi James

Don't know if you remember me but I was on EMI at the same time as Cruella but was in the Revillos at the time - still think that this is a brilliant track and I've still got my white label of Hong Kong Swing - say hello to Mike and the others if you still see them.

    Max [The Revillos].

  • @musicfan77 Ha,ha...I think I remember you Max! You'd just joined the Band after being in "The Naughty Bits" Zones! Yeah! its coming back now! ...F'ing great Days!

  • @russonagoodday It was indeed a great time and I've still got the white label of Hong Kong Swing - I think You and Mike came up to my wedding in Newcastle with some of the girls from E.M.I and Janice (Long). happy days -do you still see the Bankrobbers, and Silent Running? what are you up to these days? trevorsewell@mtmmedia.co.uk

  • im fascinated o_o this is soooo advanced for the 80s! they just rock!

  • @kuroasai Music or art isn't about progress, things just change as the fashion changes.

  • quite badass. quite very badass.

  • Philomena is something else, best looking redhead i have ever come across. Remember this this from the early 80's. great band but sadly short lived

  • 1985!!!!!Super

  • It's like Sparks meets Boingo. Where have they been all my life?

  • This is so so so so soooo cool! Have to thank my luck that I thumbled onto Cruella De Villes Hong Kong Swing once when I was just surfing the tube.. Too bad I´m about 20 years too late it would´ve been great to see them live. :)

  • An extraordinary record that in a sane world would be considered a classic. Why did this band only release a few singles and die such a premature death???

  • This still send shivers down me spine after all these years. I'm confident half of the viewings of this clip are mine!

    Absolutely brilliant in every respect.

  • fantastic song,and guitarist.

  • I bought this too!!!! :)

And never stop liking it, just today typed

it in as a search and wow its here and loads

of people like it as well!!

    Love Majella xxxxxx

  • I luv this song ...and im like only 13 lol its an old song but luv it ever since i was lil hehe!xxx

  • i've got this 45

  • Hah! How great to discover this on YouTube. I discovered this track in my mum's vinyl collection and fell in love with it! Such a shame the band never really made it

  • Fantastic seeing this video again. I bought the single in 1983 after seeing it, it blew me away.

I dig out the single now and then for a play, once I put it on it stays on for the next hour or 2.

Just got round to digitising the single (unfortunately poor pressing quality of the vinyl and a little worn out). Thanks a lot for the posting Trine and James.

  • I bought the single back in 83 purely on the only viewing of the original video on the Tube. Out of my entire record collection, this is the only record I have played contantly ever since.

There is a Cruella De Ville website, where, If I remember correctly there was an album, but you would have to trawl the second hand record shops.

  • Thank you so much - I never thought I'd see footage of Cruella de Ville again - they were my favourite band while they lasted - have all their singles (I think), shame there were so few, and I used to wear a home made C de V t-shirt! I'm off to check out the Yahoo Group.

  • WOW.added to my favourites. this band is awesome, shame it didnt last long

  • I've been searching the internet for nearly 10 years to see or hear "I'll Do The Talking" again!! Where the hell is it? Was a great song.

  • brilliant, I'm new to Youtube and thought i was the only person in the world who knew about this song. Bought as a single in 1984 approx and it still plays along with 12 inch version of Uncle John. Fortunately have been able to digitilize it and play on CD in car, cant help going mad to it when the mood takes me, my sons love it as well.

  • A fan based CD of the Cruella De Ville songs has been made available through thier Yahoo! site.

  • can you direct me to the fan based site new on a computer so dont know what to do and would love the cd .thanks

  • One of the greatest singles ever made - a totally exhilerating masterpiece from one of the great "lost" bands. What a tragedy this band never even made it to their first album. I wonder if there are any master-tapes gathering dust in a vault somewhere. This version of Gypsy Girl is a different mix from the single version too! And wasn't there a second video made for this single?

  • I never realised that the intro guitar bit was bowed - makes sense. Anyway, I'm amazed to see that this video exists - shame to hear that the album never made the ligth of day

  • utter genius!!!!!!!!thank you so much for posting this, its a tragedy the band never went further.Theres plenty in this single tune to inform and educate and generally wag a finger at the kind of tripe trust fund dullards foisted on us nowadays by weary execs...wonderful stuff
