had a tortoiseshell calico named loretta, aka big L. damn she was the best cat. so mild mannered, loved belly rubs, practically spoke the english language, and unfortunately learned how to open doors (i say unfortunately because when she got too old to jump she realized if she scratched enough humans would come running).

We had an beautiful sweetheart Tortoise Shell cat. Sadly she died on saturday because she was starving herself because of kidney cancer. She loved being petted and would sit on the couch and demand pets from us. Also had a cute short squeak meow. Having to put her down broke my heart.

@dancereleven Same with mine. Very bratty, and likes to play rough. The funniest thing is her desire to even the score and get the last attack. The cat loves to play chase games, and other aggressive games. I'm like a big toy to her.

Yeah my tortoise shell cat is very bratty and likes to play rough as well. But is a lot of fun as long as I don't try to pet her or pick her up when she is in a bad mood which is a lot of the time.

i currently have a Tortois Shell Cat right now. i've had her since she was a kitten. i thought she was a beuty, so i named her Belle from Beauty and the Beast lol. she is four years old right now, we have her sister too, her sister is a tiger cat and her name is Ripa, she's named after Kelly Rippa. can't believe they'll most likely still be alive when i'm out of the house lol. but yeah, perty cats, tortois shells are. funny.. sometimes Belle likes to lick my hair as if giving me a bath lol.

This video reminded me of my own Tortie, Mink. After being my best friend for 14 years, she walked away from our house and never came back. I will feel that pain of loss in my heart forever. Out of the 20+ cats I've owned, Torties have always been the smartest and most loving. Why is that?

Wow, 18 years. We just lost our tortie, Hannah Boo, last week to cancer. We had her some 15 years. She was the light and life of our household. We still "feel" her presence everywhere in the house, and are finding ourselves doing things that we never realized we did for her - leave the bedroom doors cracked so she can come in at night, not leave papers on the floor so she won't tear them up, careful w/crinkly bags so we don't accidentally tease her w/treats. Little things.
