Pearl Jam is and always has been a retro band regurgitating the same hard rock formula of the last 30 years. A throwback to another era. Nothing original here. A good band or artist should at least try to break new ground (like the early blues muscians did).

I'll agree with you that Pearl Jam didn't break any new ground. The punk, rock, grunge thing started with Sabbath, the Stooges and Neil Young.

And bands like the Yardbirds and Cream were doing blues-rock before Zeppelin.

And Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson and Skip James were doing Blues before any white man picked up a guitar.
