Never seen this trick before nor how he does it but here is my logic-
He plucks the real bulb from the lamp, as he points the cameraman and audience to turn away (why didn't he start with two lamps next to each other?) he replaces the real bulb with a dud, which has the back missing and is unvisibly bigger. The 2nd real bulb is given to him, in which the dud one neatly clips on top of as the back is missing. He never turns the joined bulb around as the audience would see the {tbc}
