  • Adam is my man <3

  • he should always wear black!

  • He is a legend, I love his bass lines, so simple and so effective

  • nice smile,, he moves mysterious ways

  • I have a crush on him

  • @ellisrose @zenon2006 Dude bono and larry are coolest by far. And Bono would be the coolest and most fun. He's not afraid to be crazy :) thats just my opinion tho

  • Adam- the first and coolest man on earth

  • Of course Adam is the coolest guy - he's the bass player.

  • Here I thought I was his #1 Fan...You ladies know Big Sexy...The kids can have Bono and The Edge of whatever. Adam is class, intelligence and all around hunk...... Rock on Big sexy!

  • Adam is sexy as hell. I love his accent.

  • @blulicious2 Adam clayton is so hot!

  • Adam is fit as!

  • he's the sexiest.

love all 4 of them, but adam.. mmmm.. ;]]]

  • adam clayton fucking rocks

  • Clayton is the one I'd want to hang out with

  • Ya --the man 5 stars :)

  • mr cool i have seen u2 about 15 times and adam clayton is one cool man and a fantastic bass player

  • I doubt dating Naomi Campbell is one of the highlights of his life...which should tell you something. Besides, I hear the bass in every U2 song. I barely notice it in most others. It'll be a sad day when U2 stops making music. They couldn't make music now without Adam Clayton. He's the coolest around as far as I'm concerned. Look at him. The man's almost 50 years old and he looks better than ever. He's a rock star. He's stunning. Whatever he's doing...right, wrong, or otherwise...I like it.

  • Huh? Adam does his thing on stage, like any other member of the band. And I think he plays whatever he and the band wants him to play.

Maybe it's simple, but it's catchy and it's Adam. All laid back, just happy to be there. And it would never be U2 without him.

If you are so good, why aren't you out there living your dreams out? Instead of bitching on the internet to strangers?

    Go Adam!

  • i remember once he said "uhm..yeah...i can play bass..."

they've always been more focused on edge's guitar sound rather than complicated bass rifts.

still he did a great job in POP,and we wouldn't have u2 without him so...

  • The point of the bass guitar isn't to be a lead guitar, but to provide the bass lines that hold the songs together. A lot of big name bands have simple to play bass lines and not all U2 bass lines are simple at all. I believe Adam is a great bass player and is a huge part of the music that is U2. He has said that he can hear mistakes in early albums, which only shows how humble he is.

  • I love U2, but yes, Clayton bass lines are very elementary, there is no question about that, they go well with the songs but they are as simple as they can be. It is without a doubt an easy job. It may be that that simple bass lines are actually necessary for the group, given Bono's huge stage precense, the incredible sound textures from the Edge and Larry massive drums, maybee if the bass had too many flourishes it would all be too much and we would loose the melody.

  • markotraco... what's wrong with u?? This guy post a comment in each and every Adam Clayton's clips on youtube. It's puerile.

  • Totally the easiest job in the world. And you'd think with having nearly no notes to play he'd have more time to develop a stage presence. Normally when a bass player just stands there, he's a beast bass player. But in this case he's a tool bass player, and he has no stage presence. So he's just a tool all around.

  • ok. first, you're both out of your minds. YOU try playing "streets" or "new year's day" and tell me how you do.

second, this guy was the band's first manager, he got them gigs, and radio play, by WORKING HIS ASS OFF. if it wasn't for Adam Clayton, U2 would not exist.

third, when you're up against an ego and stage presence as large as Bono's, how can you compete?

fourth, the guy with "no stage presence" dated Naomi Campbell. so he must be doing something right.

  • ok. i've forgotten more about U2 than you'll ever know. so don't try to paint me as ignorant. and i'm not here to fight, little boy. if you don't dig it, there's a BILLION other youtube videos to watch. or, if you're on an anti-U2 crusade, YOU'RE ABOUT 25 YEARS TOO LATE.

people like what they like, man. you can't argue taste, it makes you look like a child.

now, go ahead and flame away, i'm done and won't respond anymore.

  • You're such a dork. And very very stupid, and uncapable of having a rational discussion. In your total stupidity, you're unable to understand that this has nothing to do with your gay love for U2 at all. Dummy.

  • if you think you seem intelligent by insulting someone who defend his point of view. You can't feel the perfect job Adam do on every song.

  • if you think you seem intelligent by insulting someone who defend his point of view. You can't feel the perfect job Adam do on every song.

  • Do U2 fans live in a world by themselves? He was the first one to insult me while totally ignoring my statement. He was the one that was out of line and irrational in his reply to me. He's a flamer. And you obviously don't understand normal conversation either.

  • How about YOU try playing those songs. You'll be able to in minutes of picking up a bass guitar, even if you've never played before.

  • I've just realised - he has the easiest job in the world!

  • I'm a HUUUUUUUGE U2 fan here, a worshipper of Bono. But I hate those other U2 fans so far up their own arse to admit that Clayton is THE BEST bass guitarist in the world.

The bass-line to New Years Day, Gloria etc is simplistic and effective yes. But the current scope U2 have covered in their rock history has given Adam a lot of oppurtunities to show off his bass playing skills, he hasn't done that yet really.

  • A fair point :)

I am a fan of them don't get me wrong. Mr Clayton is definitely neccesary for the U2 sound.

  • jealousy .. ?

  • FYI...the other guys in U2 readily admit that Adam's "package" puts theirs to shame. There's one more thing for you to be jealous of.

  • Your jealousy is so apparent. You've repeated over and over on this page and others all about your '20 years of base training' Yet you are nothing, have accomplished nothing in music and probably life as well. Or I'm SURE you'd be bragging about it. You can tell your jealous because you always talk about Adam Clayton's success, money and world wide fame as if you can't stand it. Jealous!

  • music is not always about money... if those lines are so simple and still he earned so much money why aren't you playing there instead of him? the simplicity of a song is sometimes the factor that turns it in a genial masterpiece

  • Why aren't I playing them instead? What kind of a question is that? It's luck obviously. I'm 20 years younger too, so I wasn't born yet. I am not from Ireland. There are many reasons. The bass lines are simple. There is really no argument there, and your argument doesn't refute that. They are like the most basic of basic. A "masterpiece" is whatever someone thinks is a masterpiece I guess. Obviously, it's easier to please some than others, though. Doesn't change the fact that he is a bad player.

  • you are only saying that something that's simple is a piece of sh**! adam is not a genious still he has invented his own style, his own way to play and understand the bass... i think that u2's music is like this not because of adam's simplicity. in my point of view adam bass lines are like they are because of u2's kind of music

  • basic of basic? If its so easy, then why arent you out creating some of these basic of basic riffs and making yourself millions of dollars? Simplistic or not, he makes music that sounds good and billions of people appear to like it. I often listen to it and say, "now how come I couldnt have come up with that? It sounds so easy, and so obviously good." Thats why he and the band are so great. They used simplicity to create some of the greatest songs ever. Billions agree with me.

  • the sexiest u2 member, only now in his prime

  • He's the best-looking and the coolest

  • @ellisrose he is the handsomest one, now, i think :)

  • Stands there comfortable and chilled.

    Such a cool guy. :-)

  • Adam Clayton is my favorite bassist.

His bass lines are somehow melodic.

  • Adam Clayton has the best job in the world.

  • i love him *0*

  • where is this? Very nice.

  • that is fucking hot
