I must say playing infantry you really do just forget the jets are even there they pose no real threat while in reality when mr Taliban hears a f-22 or a tornado burning overhead I'm sure he pays full attention to its existence! I wanna be in a scenario where the jets fly over and I shit myself xD
Air to air missiles are pointless. Most people have chaff and they reload too quick. Use guns on other aircraft as theyre quicker kill too if you hold fire lulling them into thinking their tail is clear, then fire when they level off to spot.

it takes a lot of practice & skill to become an effective jet pilot. for an average player (like me), yo get maybe 2 kills. which doesnt help the team win at all. so i just stay out of jets.
I dont why in saying this but my jet set up is air radar extinguisher and guided missiles and i play rush in conquest i use the same thing but i put on heat seekers.
i want dummy bombys and 2 man jets back! it was alot easier to bomb with a dedicated bombadier. and the stuka back in 1942 with its double bombs was godly
@staggus are u trying to destroy ground targets? if your are ground targets are really hard to hit in a jet try and go for enemy helicopters or jets when your up agaisnt jets dont shoot until u know your going to hit them and heliopters go very slow and start shooting once you think u have the shot......just dont slam into the heli ive done that many times

when Im playing with friends a lot of the time when I fly the jet, I have my friends use stingers to take down all the air armor and thus in turn I dont spend most of the game circling around with another jet. once thats not an issue, I can easily take out ALL of the ground armor. this becomes a huge advantage to your team.
Jets already have rocket pods, which are very effective against ground targets. I assume you mean "dummy bombs" for carpet bombing? The problem with that is countering. Jets are already very tough for ground units to shoot down. Even average pilots can outmaneuver stinger lock-ons. If you give jets more firepower to infantry, you gotta give infantry more ways to take out jets. It's a difficult balance, one that already currently favors the pilots to be honest.
I agree with you on the dummy bombs,and they do have guided missles as a unlock for jet that lock on and hit ground units but you need to lock on to something and can't just drop them over a effective area to do damage,and not for nothing most of the time the guided missles miss and if they do hit they just " disable the tanks,and trust me they miss most of the time so either way you do 2 or 3 passes just for one tank kill,but if you have rockets you can spam like 50 of them and get kills,they
Yeah I miss the bombs too. It would help on the consoles to get the players in the air more focused on what is happening on the ground. Although, I think out of the hundreds of bombs I dropped in the older games my kill:bomb ratio was probably 1:20.
so many things could have made this game better, such as ammo in the air vehicles and resupply over carrier or base, commander mode, squad leader role, higher player count, at least 32 on console, jet bombs, the mi28 havoc is way underpowered and slow compared to ah1z viper, LOTS of things to fix
Dont mean to sound bitter bc I love this game but I love when its a team trying to win, not when your own blue guys will shoot you down if you take their jet or you are on the carrier shooting down the hovering chopper and gonna jump in the spawn chopper when a douche comes & stands next to you to steal it from you? Most videos are against noobs or you guys play against 4 6 people on the other team who don't know what they are doing. That's clear bc no game is that easy except that type.
Id like BF3 to create a map thats all Jets and Choppers, etc, so that all those annoying game ruining morons that do NOTHING productive except annoy everyone by flying back and forth over the runway bombing empty jets and choppers before they take off. And those morons that hover the chopper behind the carrier in wait or loop in a jet until you take off and shoot you before you even take off. I miss BF3 without assholes.
Jet pilots are playing a different game. They don't really help out anyone else. Taking choppers out can be difficult as there's usually not enough time to lock on and when you do they just flare. It's nice if you can manage to take the helicopter out with a strafing run but that doesn't happen too often. For me, flying jets is a real SPM killer. As soon as I jump into one I feel like I detach myself from the whole action and I like to be in the thick of it.
drop the heat seekers and get rocket pods, you'll get more action killing ground vehicles and infantry with rocket pods or even the gatling gun and just use the gun against aircraft, or rocket pod some hovering helicopters
I usually go around 18-1 in jets...Just use rockets pods for tanks, ifvs, and choppers...U'll be surprise how effective they are against choppers hovering...Shoot the other jets down..I mostly play conquest cause i find the attack jets just ridiculously easy mode on rush...They just rip apart everything and i was getting kills to easily...I like the way it is now with maybe a guided missile buff to a one hit disable so an organized team can take armor out with those instead of always using RPs..

my best jet games are like 12-0 16-0. I have 745 jet kills here my 2 cents. The rocket pods need to be improved. If you want to focus on just air battles then use HS. I use rocket pods because I can take out jeeps, tanks, IFV, but the rockets need a little more pepper. The GM are trash I would never use those unless I have a teammate running SOFLAM. the jets are tuned well control very well, but are armed for mostly air battle. DICE; fix the rocket pods or the GM, heat seekers are fine.
Dice should also bring back the dog fight only game mode from 1944 i recall they had something like that, and i should be on Wake Island and have the Jets spawn on he ships like they use too.
I don't know if you know this, but a good technique for dodging missiles is to slow down and pull up, and then really quickly throttle up while doing either a tight left or right downward turn.
I think a Jets main role is to destroy enemy Helicopters and protect your own from enemy jets, because helicopters are what hurt your team the most from the air.
@godseagle911 I disagree, because jets do have bombs and such, and are more accurate that helis in my opinion. I think helis are more for defesive, while jets are for offensive. Helis such as the venom and little bird have simple miniguns on them, and some others, like the viper, have rockets, but due to the flying mechanic, it can be hard to aim, and rockets and bullets tend to spread more. However, in the jet, it is easier to get a clear aprroch on your target, and you have strafing too.
@godseagle911 Youd be surprised at how lethal a good jet pilot can be from the air with top down attacks using the rocket pods and the quick reload mini gun. This isnt a medium for me to show big my dick is on the internet but i can 9 times outta 10 rack up 20+ kills with jets on rush or conquest and get around 7 - 8000 points in vehicle destroys.
Ditch the AA missles & use the main cannon against other air vehicles. It's much more effective since just about everyone has flares. Plus, you can use a weapon like Rocket Pods or Guided Missles to bust tanks & actually help your team.

I completely agree. Whenever I'm in a jet (on Xbox), I know that for the most part I won't be participating in the main battle, but instead fighting air-to-air combat. That feeling might change a little once I unlock the guided missile, but that's only for vehicles. Unguided bombs (that say deal significant direct damage, without a large splash damage area of effect) would make me feel more useful as a jet pilot. Add more AA guns for balance and you've got yourself a fun game!

I sub because you do BF3 videos on console, there seem to be many differences between console and PC. Many of videos are from PC, and can be misleading if you play on console. Playing conquest on console I can never find a mobile AA. I would love to see a video on the location of vehicles. Keep up the good work.
If Dice didn't add dummy bombs it's because in modern warfare they are pointless. Modern countries buy few guided missils which cost bilion of dollars but they do the same "work" as if it was hundred of dummy bombs.

I definitely do not want to have more AA. There are plenty of ways to take down jets and by no means should they be so underpowered like they are now. On a normal caspian border or firestorm you have Mobile AA, Stationary AA, Soflams w/ javelins guided missiles, or stingers all of which require no skill and are extremely easy to use.

Hey Red, While I do agree that Dumby bombs are a more satisfying anti ground weapon to use, Using a guided missile on jets and taking out air units with the nose cannon is a fantastic combo and can pin enemy teams in their spawn if they go for any vehicle.
Dummy bombs are just unrealistic for BF3. Both Russian and American airforces have abandoned them almost completely. Plus I am happy that aircraft have a more limited role in the newer battlefield games. I am so sick of games of battlefield 2 and 2142 where the match was decided by who could spawn kill vehicles the most.
Not to brag but i do get at least 11 kills in any jet map with 0 or little deaths and do help out my team by taking out vehicles on the ground. Just takes a little practice and some good tricks
I, too, liked Dummy Bombs in BF2. The addition of Guided Missile and Rockets, however, negates their necessity. I'd like them to up the splash damage on Rockets, and the direct damage on Guided Missile.
Personally I'd like them to bring back 2-seater Jets... slower and less agile, but more heavily armed. A true fighter-bomber
I love using guided missiles plus beam scanning. I always attack ground units and ignore other jets until they become a major threat to me. It's easy to kill infantry once you get the hang of it.
i dont use jets but i think they would greatly help the ground guys if they threw in bombs, or bunker busters to blow up buildings, since mortars no longer do anything to buildings. it seems like just flying around keeping other jets off me is the main point
I got into the battlefield scene with Bad Company 1 (which still is somewhat my favorite) so this is my first real experience with jets, but these dummy bombs sound great/strategic =). You mentioned Ace Combat, I've been trying to find a control style in BF3 which emulates the normal control style in AC, would you have any tips for picking an 'easy' control style?

Yea I think those dummy bombs would be good. It would make strafing runs a lot more effective and occur a lot more often making the game in a way more realistic. Though as you said if you put more AA batteries or AA tanks it would make it balanced because you got to fly pretty low to be accurate with those bombs so if your low your an easy target for AA. Yes I definitely think they should go in. Also what's that random bump or shake when you fly? Is it turbulence.
K so well i didnt play any previous BF games xcept BF3 witch I am loving the only problems i have is snipers camping in the back on rush (attacking) and people waiting in the dead screen to spawn on vechiles. Keep the vids coming man love them. also spawn killing with jets is frustrating. :D
I miss the dummy bombs as well. Jets just fly around and fight each other. They don't really affect the battle on the ground like in BF2. I wish they also brought back the repair/reload by flying over the airfield. If you get disabled, there is pretty much no way to save the jet.
I really can't see the point of flying around in the jets, heli's are different, but jets just seem pointless. If you have no one on the other team flying a jet, you are very limited in your impact of what's going on below. Dumb bombs sound like a great solution!
i get in a jet and suicide it into usaly a helicopter or tank and if im lucky another jet of course all being enimies i have spent 23+ hours in a jet and i only have 36 points toward the FIRST unlock since i bail out before hitting
I hated bombs on BF2 because of the spawn camping. I think they would be awesome because we have waaaay more AA options against them, and rocket pods/cannon will disable a tank in a first strafe run if you're lucky. In 1943 they kinda took skill.

I'd guess it would take about 3 seconds when someone gets the idea to just bomb flags with a tank from spawn if the tank wouldn't die. Adding another AA-gun to spawn area where you can cover your own spawn only might work as well to limit the baseraping. It happens pretty often now even without the dummy bombs.

I would really like to see the AA get nerfed that thing can take out freaken tanks and the damn Amtrak THE AMTRAK that thing took direct smaw hits and kept going. They need to really buff the mp7 and lower the damage on the famas. I hate to complain but I need to get this out.

Unlock guided missiles in the jet and you can handle ground units. Pilots that focus only on the air units are basically worthless.

I don't know if you know this, but a good technique for dodging missiles is to slow down and pull up, and then really quickly throttle up while doing either a tight left or right downward turn.

I think a Jets main role is to destroy enemy Helicopters and protect your own from enemy jets, because helicopters are what hurt your team the most from the air.

@godseagle911 I disagree, because jets do have bombs and such, and are more accurate that helis in my opinion. I think helis are more for defesive, while jets are for offensive. Helis such as the venom and little bird have simple miniguns on them, and some others, like the viper, have rockets, but due to the flying mechanic, it can be hard to aim, and rockets and bullets tend to spread more. However, in the jet, it is easier to get a clear aprroch on your target, and you have strafing too.

@godseagle911 Youd be surprised at how lethal a good jet pilot can be from the air with top down attacks using the rocket pods and the quick reload mini gun. This isnt a medium for me to show big my dick is on the internet but i can 9 times outta 10 rack up 20+ kills with jets on rush or conquest and get around 7 - 8000 points in vehicle destroys.

Ditch the AA missles & use the main cannon against other air vehicles. It's much more effective since just about everyone has flares. Plus, you can use a weapon like Rocket Pods or Guided Missles to bust tanks & actually help your team.

I completely agree. Whenever I'm in a jet (on Xbox), I know that for the most part I won't be participating in the main battle, but instead fighting air-to-air combat. That feeling might change a little once I unlock the guided missile, but that's only for vehicles. Unguided bombs (that say deal significant direct damage, without a large splash damage area of effect) would make me feel more useful as a jet pilot. Add more AA guns for balance and you've got yourself a fun game!

I sub because you do BF3 videos on console, there seem to be many differences between console and PC. Many of videos are from PC, and can be misleading if you play on console. Playing conquest on console I can never find a mobile AA. I would love to see a video on the location of vehicles. Keep up the good work.

If Dice didn't add dummy bombs it's because in modern warfare they are pointless. Modern countries buy few guided missils which cost bilion of dollars but they do the same "work" as if it was hundred of dummy bombs.

@TWTHEREDDRAGON Do you wish there was a variant of wake island for the update with each side on its own carrier and have the airbase the advantage with an extra plane like 1943 so it wasnt always conquest assault on console? Dummy bombs are great and you should try and get word out with other highly viewed members of youtube and we could possibly get it on the game...after all we did get bf3 on xbox just by asking.

@TWTHEREDDRAGON, I really like battlefield, and I thiink its the best fps game out in its genre (having classes and being a massive multiplayer base. but I only played a little of bad company 2, and about the ame of battlefield 3, so how do I compete with other players? I find that most of the time I get more lucky than have skill when I kill people and whatnot. maybe I just need to write down and keep all your BF3 notes next to me when I play XD

I definitely do not want to have more AA. There are plenty of ways to take down jets and by no means should they be so underpowered like they are now. On a normal caspian border or firestorm you have Mobile AA, Stationary AA, Soflams w/ javelins guided missiles, or stingers all of which require no skill and are extremely easy to use.

Hey Red, While I do agree that Dumby bombs are a more satisfying anti ground weapon to use, Using a guided missile on jets and taking out air units with the nose cannon is a fantastic combo and can pin enemy teams in their spawn if they go for any vehicle.

Dummy bombs are just unrealistic for BF3. Both Russian and American airforces have abandoned them almost completely. Plus I am happy that aircraft have a more limited role in the newer battlefield games. I am so sick of games of battlefield 2 and 2142 where the match was decided by who could spawn kill vehicles the most.

I, too, liked Dummy Bombs in BF2. The addition of Guided Missile and Rockets, however, negates their necessity. I'd like them to up the splash damage on Rockets, and the direct damage on Guided Missile.
Personally I'd like them to bring back 2-seater Jets... slower and less agile, but more heavily armed. A true fighter-bomber

I love using guided missiles plus beam scanning. I always attack ground units and ignore other jets until they become a major threat to me. It's easy to kill infantry once you get the hang of it.

i dont use jets but i think they would greatly help the ground guys if they threw in bombs, or bunker busters to blow up buildings, since mortars no longer do anything to buildings. it seems like just flying around keeping other jets off me is the main point

I got into the battlefield scene with Bad Company 1 (which still is somewhat my favorite) so this is my first real experience with jets, but these dummy bombs sound great/strategic =). You mentioned Ace Combat, I've been trying to find a control style in BF3 which emulates the normal control style in AC, would you have any tips for picking an 'easy' control style?
Can't wait to get into a jet after watching this vid.

Yea I think those dummy bombs would be good. It would make strafing runs a lot more effective and occur a lot more often making the game in a way more realistic. Though as you said if you put more AA batteries or AA tanks it would make it balanced because you got to fly pretty low to be accurate with those bombs so if your low your an easy target for AA. Yes I definitely think they should go in. Also what's that random bump or shake when you fly? Is it turbulence.

K so well i didnt play any previous BF games xcept BF3 witch I am loving the only problems i have is snipers camping in the back on rush (attacking) and people waiting in the dead screen to spawn on vechiles. Keep the vids coming man love them. also spawn killing with jets is frustrating. :D

I miss the dummy bombs as well. Jets just fly around and fight each other. They don't really affect the battle on the ground like in BF2. I wish they also brought back the repair/reload by flying over the airfield. If you get disabled, there is pretty much no way to save the jet.

I really can't see the point of flying around in the jets, heli's are different, but jets just seem pointless. If you have no one on the other team flying a jet, you are very limited in your impact of what's going on below. Dumb bombs sound like a great solution!

I hated bombs on BF2 because of the spawn camping. I think they would be awesome because we have waaaay more AA options against them, and rocket pods/cannon will disable a tank in a first strafe run if you're lucky. In 1943 they kinda took skill.

I'd guess it would take about 3 seconds when someone gets the idea to just bomb flags with a tank from spawn if the tank wouldn't die. Adding another AA-gun to spawn area where you can cover your own spawn only might work as well to limit the baseraping. It happens pretty often now even without the dummy bombs.
