Sad thing for the Capitals is I've said they have $14.6 million in cap space. Well if they sign Ovechkin AND Semin, by my estimate, they might have less than $1million left. If Blake (40 goals) got for million, Semin with fetch about the same (37 goals). So there's $14million EXTRA a season for Washington, and they didn't add any players with it. Could they trade Semin?

We shouldn't be TOO upset that Raycroft makes 2 mill on the bench, Colorado has a 6 mill back up in Theodore, Lightning's backup Marc Denis is making 3 mill (1-5-0 4.05 GAA, .885 save%), Boston has an injured 4.25 mill goalie that was playing very poorly, and Ottawa is juggling two 3+ million goalies. And I guess you can say Chris Osgood is pwning Hasek and his 2.5 mill contract.

Well it's one thing when you have two great goalies, and Ottawa and Detroit are both in that boat. There's no problem with that. But it doesn't take a $2million Andrew Raycroft to sit on the bench. Clemmensen could do that for less.

Something I thought you might have mentioned was Woz (lol). I never actually noticed how bad he was until last night. Why is he dressed and Belak is benched? Why not Kronwall? Hopefully Woz will be dropped when Coliacovo returns.

I think Kronwall's still hurt, and Belak's played wing for so long now he may have forgotten how to play defence haha. Woz will be dropped when Coliacovo AND McCabe return, but not just one of them. And yes,I laughed my head off at Coach's Corner. It's funny, because as loud as Don Cherry is, when I went to the NHL awards, McLean was boss. What he said went.

I don't hate Raycroft, but Vesku is much better. This year leafs are better defensively than last year, which is what really screwed Raycroft. Anyways if we can trade him to an NHL team, we should because he deserves a 2nd chance. And more good news, Coliacov has played 20 mins with Marlies and was +1, I think he might be back with us soon, and the ice time of Woz will be cut down.

Nah the reason we haven't is:

A) He's pretty young and

B) He'll develope better with the Marlies.

The Carey Price's and Tuukaa Rask's don't come very often, and most goalies have to wait until their mid-20's to get good NHL time. I'd rather him play in the AHL than sit in the NHL. Give it time, he'll come up. As for if they trade Raycroft, unless something bad happens, Pogge with stay in the AHL while Clemmensen gets the call-up.

Yeah that's something I've thought in the back of my mind: "shouldn't they be playing the player they're trying to sell?" Anyway, Vesa's stealing games, so yes he reminds me of Cujo. Raycroft couldn't steal games last year, barring the odd game, most notably the St.Louis game last year where he made the save of the season (2-1 win).

Yes he's a UFA at season's end. He can waive his no-trade clause if the team asks him to, but he doesn't have to. A no-trade clause is rarely so the player doesn't get traded, it's more about IF he gets traded, he can dictate to where, because if it's to somebody he doesn't like, he doesn't have to waive it.

He's still on an entry level contract I believe. That's why Crosby won the hart trophy last year while only making $850,000. Sweet deal, eh? They put that in place because guys like Lindros came in to the league already millionaires. I think they're allowed to lace the contract with incentives, but I'm not sure.
