dude that shit is fuckin sick bro..props to that build everyday. im bout to bore my 03 1.8t wolfsburg to the 2.0L and get the 3071R turbo i think its called. cant wait
@CantFaze lol only a 4 cyl lovin low income fag brings gas mileage into a performance discussion XD and not good, but considering the laws of energy, since i make a hell of a lot more power than the imports, i would expect to burn more fuel.
@GTO19020 how much power are you actually putting out? i have an 01 audi s4 (v6 twin turbo) with aftermarket turbos, intercoolers, chip etc.. and im putting out 550 torque and almost 500 hp on 4 wheels.. so even if u have more power - spinnin aint winnin bud
It's a nice perk, nothing wrong with enjoying it if you have it. You get the nice deep rumble, I get to go a little further on a tank.
I could have bought a 5.0 Mustang GT but I bought a new GTI instead. It's 600 pounds lighter, $10,000 cheaper, and a much nicer car to be in. And for about $5k in parts it'll be as fast as the Mustang in a straight line too.
And still get 34 mpg on the highway. It just won't have the V8 rumble :(
@luminaeus yeah, but against you are going to spend an extra 5k and IMO i hate the sound of a 4cyl, its just annoying to hear....to me, a big evil V8 will always steal my heart over a 4cyl....the only 4cyl i have even rlly considered buying is an STi and that just cause its got a respectable look and is a real drivers car.
It depends on the engine, I guess. High revving Hondas sound stupid, but VW's can sound deep and mean. Check out the video 'APR MK6 GTI RSC Exhaust' Probably as good of a sound as a 4cyl can get.
I thought about getting an STI too but they're damned near $40k. Out of my price range for a car that's gaudy on the outside and all hard-plastic on the inside. Previous generation was much better looking, but it's a big risk to buy a used STI or Evo. They've all been abused lol. :)
@luminaeus this is true, 2 ears ago, i had to choose between an LS2 GTO and an STi...and i choose the GTO...the interior is rlly light years away from the STi and in a drag race (which is what 99.9% of my races are) i can easily stomp a stock STi....only down side is when it snows round here...im severly fucked lol
@luminaeus and i agree....but being addicted to V8s...there rlly is no comparison for me in what sounds meaner...its just personal preference i guess...my ears are biased XD
I don't blame you at all, and if I had bought the Mustang instead I would be in the same exact position, lol. Except instead of planning for turbo upgrades I would be planning for Whipple's kit that gives it 600+ rampaging, suicidal horses.
love the car man very nice, i hope i get my gli to that level one day. but im going backwards by deliverin pizza in it lol trashin the crap out of it. tip the pizza guy!
@redclaw01 Its nice to know i'm not the only person who has used their GLI to deliver pizzas, I took the small part of my backseat out to avid any pizza grease haha
Perhaps you should look at my profile and see my wagon making 360whp on pump gas stock motor. And yes that was on a mustang dyno so there real numbers.
or half that building a kit yourself. The 28rs is a small big turbo. 2871r, or a 30. To be more cost effective a t3/t4 50trim would do the trick. Alot of it depends on boost and injectors as well. Im still stuck on the journal bearing over the ball bearing only because the power feels smoother. Little longer spool but smooth and pulls harder at the end.
I got a 2003 1.8t honda eater and i freaking hate hondas with a passion

I think you're right... If it was 400 HP, it would have picked up a lot quicker. I too have seen what 400+ horses can do.
But - I have a VW Jetta 1.8T as well (not 400+), so it's still a sweet car to me!
