  • What the hell is Paul wearing? I thought his normal getup was bad.. now he looks like a lazy college kid who rolled out of bed and is about to drink beer and play video games all day

  • GREG PROOPS IS HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

  • Ew. Paul, Sandi and Mike. 3 of the most overrated contestants in Whose Line Britain history.

  • just another thing America stole from the British. XD (^J^)

  • Paul and Josie .. that's CHEMISTRY.

    They're yin and yang <3

  • It's so weird seeing Sandi and Paul that young!

  • Clearly Paul never saw "V".

  • It was the night before Chwistmas. :3

  • I really like Mike McShane, he's a pleasant surprise on the show considering I started watching the UK version because I've overwatched the American version. And for how many fans Tony Slattery has, I find I don't care for his humor too much. Perhaps I just don't get the references.

I'm also pleased that I enjoyed Greg's performances since his first episode. He seems to shine with his snide comments and wit.

  • This is one of the best line-ups ever, which could've been perfect if Ryan had Sandi's spot. Paul's just hilarious, Greg's a ton of fun, Tony's...well, Tony, Mike's a big, lovable hoot, and Josie's the only female contestant on the show who leaves the viewers wanting more.

Nothing against Sandi really. She's like Ron West: truly excellent, but doesn't leave that big of an impression.

  • I LOVE Paul's shirt .. LOL

  • I know it won't make any difference, since this was made YEARS ago, but Greg [and the caption people] got it backwards. The authors name is Clement Clark Moore, they reversed the C's.

  • whoaaaaa it's Greg with short hair! And Tony was great in this too! I had to keep watching his bit in the Authors game to catch everything, I was laughing so hard.

  • Hooray! John Sessions is not in this episode!!!

  • "Dear Santa, don't bring me a large bowl like ya brought me last year, ya fat git! Because I specifically wrote you and said that I wanted a 'Masters Of The Universe Torpedo', with uh, with batteries in it, but my sister disappeared with it.

    Oh man, I'm dying here!

  • Really? Six contestants all together? Interesting!

  • I am glad I found these now. I am just in time.

I loved when Josie ate the mouse during the scifi. She was so creepy, lol.

    Erin

  • Greg always looks so suprised by what comes out of his mouth!

  • An allstar cast, it's a christmas miracle.

  • Josie's hair was all kinds of crazy in this.

it's cool that they got to choose their own authors

    "Kwismas" lol Greg

  • tony was brillant in authors

  • sandi its funny and adorable...

  • wat does paul say aft his intro?

  • I see "V" was popular in Britian too.

  • Greg's has SHORT HAIR! Still looks good though. =D

    "Chwismis..."

"Dear Santa, Don't bring me a large bowl like you brought me last year you fat git."

Tony and Greg are my favorites!

Josie's Sci-Fi scene in F&T styles was hilarious too! XD

  • 'These were venusian reindeer with one thing on their minds: unsafe sex and bad hygene'.

    Very good delivery indeed :)

  • It looks so crowded onstage :P

  • Is it just my eyes playing tricks on me or does it always look like Tony stand with his pelvis tilted forward? Not of course that I'm looking there lol

  • He may have flat feet like me. It's pretty common and you have to stand like that to compensate a tiny bit. Of course he could just like thrusting his pelvis everywhere, it is Tony...

  • Tony's always ready to get it on, lol gotta love him :D

  • Greg's outift is so cute here... He looks so fit in it <3

  • Oh wow, Paul, Greg and Tony all on one episode. Life is good :)

  • And josie!!

  • @moonducky92 no love for Mike or Josie?

  • On the subject of sexy smiles... Paul's at 6:32, anyone?

  • i wouldn't mind seeing josie on every episode

  • shes the reason i watch this... cant get enough of her sexyness ;P

  • At 7:17 when she turned to Paul and smiled...WHOA! Sexy!

  • EVERYTHING about her is sexy!

  • You know, I'm starting to figure something out about you...

  • haha its not that difficult darlin xD

  • Nope, I finally figured it out...you're a guy. :-P

  • HAHA... ok.... O_o

  • Just messin' with ya.

  • "Don't bring me a large bowl like you did last year you fat git" that line gets me every time.

  • Tony was so cute during Authors :)

  • lol paul merton is an idiot :D

    but hes cool anyway =]

  • They should have done something like this for the US version of te show.

  • Sandi Toksvig is great! So is Paul Merton and Tony Slattery (at least in my opinion)

  • Not keen on sandi myself

  • Unsafe Sex awesome line.

  • Josie Laurence's face in the film and theatre styles is actually INCREDIBLY scary. :)

  • I like Paul and Tony. But both are kinda cukoo. Paul later went insane and went into a mental institusion, saying he was seeing things, and Tony had a depression type breakdow thing...And Greg's cool as well, but to me, he looks much better now than back then, now he's way less geeeky.

  • Yeah the craziness makes em more loveable, even though I must admit I am not too fond of Paul. Greg! The geekiness was too cool! I loved him with fat specs and his bracelets! :)

  • Paul didn't exactly go insane, he was just overworked. Actually, I thought his thing happened around the time this was filmed, early 1990s.

What is it with these male comedians?

  • Comedians and artistic kind of people are well known to be more suseptible to mental illness...I guess its just there brains work slightly differently or something equally as scientific.

  • I doubt it, they're just more in the public eye so we hear about it more.

  • What happened to him? :(

  • The "problem" is, that both -Tony Slattery and Paul Merton- suffers from bipolar disorder.

And the (hypo)manic phases can effect the creativity. Lots of bipolar people are very creative in those phases, but "down" on the depressed phases, like them too.

I'm just really glad that they got diagnosed and so could work out a way to live with it.

This mental illness might even be the reason for their success, but that's guesswork.

(Sorry if that sounds a little bumpy, English isn't my first language)

  • Paul is not bipolar he had a mental brake down in 1990

and let me say that your english is fantastic!

you speak better than most native speakers!

  • Yes, I read several times about the mental breakdown, but I was sure to have read about him being bipolar too somewhere; but I admit it confused me a little for some reason...

I once read he has had a minor breakdown during the filming of the Christmas Special (Season 2), but I'm not sure if that's true; he looked exhausted sometimes though, but of course that doesn't mean anything.

Sorry, for the mistake, thanks for putting it right ^^

And thank you very much for the compliment ^^

  • Well your not wrong about one of the cast having bipolar. Tony Slattery is bipolar, he had his breakdown in 1996...

  • Yes, I knew that about Tony Slattery. And about Stephen Fry.

But I didn't got them confused (unfortunately; that would sound better ;-) ), I was just wrong.

I read about Paul Mertons nervous breakdown, but I read as well on a few pages, that he's bipolar (which seems to be wrong, as I know now).

  • Yes though it is a shame that Tony had a nervous breakdown he is awesome....

  • It certainly was a hard time, I'm sure of that.

But when I watch interviews he has given after he made it again, I think he was lucky enough and is grown on it. He really made the best out of a crappy situation. And for that he has my deepest respect (same goes for Mr. Fry and Mr. Merton, by the way).

He might not like it, but I think 'cause of that he works as an example for a lot of people.

  • @VinceVIELUF Funny you should say that about Paul, as supposedly, before the taping of this episode began, Paul had some kind of mini breakdown backstage and when he got seated at his chair (Not sure what caused it). You can see during the intro that Sandi and Josie are leaning over to Paul to see if he's ok. Paul later (allegedly) said he can only remember this taping by watching it on tape, as whatever little breakdown he had fried his memory of anything that day.

  • @NYGuy322 Yeah, Paul looks like he went a little bit spare after the audience groaned at his 'Rear Window' joke.

  • when dos colin first show up?

  • 1991

  • i can't believe it. no colin or ryan. disapointing but greg and tony make it up.

  • yes there was a time when colin and ryan werent on every episode and there was a variety of funny participants

  • Thanks for putting this up!

  • Wow, Gregs hair was sooo short! I love Ryan too, and shame he isnt here, but I do love Greg loads too!

  • greg! :3 <3

although i'm in love with ryan, i still have a soft spot for greg. XD

    i love this episode.. he really gets to show off his SHORT HAIIIIRRRR cut. C;

  • I feel exactly the same about Ryan and Greg!

  • Tony is brilliant when acting like a child.

Paul Merton and Josie are great at Film & Theather styles, "Helen!" *turns round*

margishench, i think the 'lanky yank' you mention might be Ryan Stiles

  • That's because he is the mutant child of Elvis and a teletubby. In a good way.

  • Wonder why there are 6 not the usual 4

  • It was a Christmas special, aired on Friday the 29th of December 1989, even though nobody cares.

  • 2 months after i was born

  • ahhh fair play lol

  • i like the lanky yank on the norm series lol, cant remember what his name is tho and the bald brit, errrrr....whats the 2x07 about?

  • The 2x07 is just a way to keep track of which episode it is. 2 = season 2; 07 = episode 7. I have to keep everything in order because I'm odd like that. :)

  • @margishench Ryan Stiles is said 'lanky yank'.

  • Tony is really good doing a child. Him and Greg are the best at that.

  • This is a great episode, however, Paul Merton looks uncomfortable throughout. He had a minor breakdown during the taping of the episode.

  • Oh my gosh! did he???

i love his and josies film and theatre styles! very funny!!! but i have to admit and agree paul does look uncomfortable!

  • You're right. I think he was uncomfortable. I believe he had to take a break for a while. He did actually have a breakdown, resulting from a combination of several things. He'd been mugged in Central Park, he'd been hospitalised as a result of playing football. It's all in my own poem, and he got severely stressed and broke down. Luckily, he realised something was wrong and booked himself into the Maudsley Psychiatric Hospital for 6 weeks.

  • who are you talking about ?

  • Paul Merton, born Paul Martin on Tuesday the 9th of July 1957 - pointless information, I know, but I thought it would come in useful... probably won't though, I don't know.

  • ohhh right aha thanks :)

  • So sorry. I don't know what happened there. It wouldn't post, sorry for them appearing in excess.

  • Paul Merton.

  • I've just realised, Greg Proops looks a bit like Sean Lock.

  • He does a bit. In that sort of geeky specky but hot way.

    I love Tony!!!!

  • yeah, but Tony's there.

    :)

  • Yeh Tony and paul are rapidly becoming two of my favs

  • I like Tony

  • they are my faves

  • I can almost see your point about Ryan, but Colin wasn't even on the show yet...Ryan had been in only one episode when this aired (but, then again, so had Sandi).

But, really, these six are great. If I had to exchange any of them for Ryan and/or Colin, it'd be really difficult for me.
