Sepultura / Derrick Green interview 1/2

sepultura is a great band, with and without max, but i personally think sepultura is better with derrick, because i didnt think the band really found their sound throughout most of maxs time with them. i love max, but he's much better with soulfly now.

i think max's style fits soulfly and derrick's style fits sepultura they are both pretty different bands if max and igor was to come back wich they probs never will it wouldnt be the same because derrick just fits sepultura now

Darrick is a brilliant vocalist, there is no doubt about that.

But let's say, if you took the Norwegian blackmetal band Dimmu Borgir and suddenly threw in a Pakistani vocalist, would it still be Dimmu Borgir.

I feel that Sepultura created a niche in the late 80's. They created the Brazilian trash metal sound. But now i feel that they don't have a characteristic sound anymore, especially now that they have a vocalist from Ohio, USA... i just don't think it is real anymore.. just superficial shit

@urgepower well said. In short, i think Sepultura is awesome, i think Derrick is awesome, Max is awesome but they should've changed the name imo. Cause ALL the original Sepultura members have left + they have a different sound now...

@Rabje1234 Well I suppose Paulo's an original member. He wasn't a founder member but he was the only member to appear on all releases (for the first few months of their existence it was just Wagner Lamounier and the Cavalera brothers). Wagner was first to leave in 1985, then Jairo Guedz (also not technically a founder member as Max was original lead guitarist but did appear on first album) left in '87, Max in '96 and Iggor in 2006. The Jean Dolabella came in and left to be replaced by a 20 y/o.

i wish people would stop giving derrick shit over max, tbh i prefer derrick i think is voicee is more captivating and has more drive, plus you can understand and relate to him more.

Really great to see a talented black guy on the metal scene. Didn't really dig his stuff on earlier Sepultura albums, but man, they certainly seemed to have found their groove pocket now! Bring the noise!

@havokbrockley maybe...they are practically different bands with the different frontmen, though, but good either way, with the exception of the disappointing nation and roorback albums. Both have good morals and views I think...I don't know who I prefer as a person really...
