I'd do temporary tattoos on myself not out of fear of needles or pain but because I can't think of anything I would really want permanently imprinted on my skin, I'm too indecisive for that. Like my hair is always changing, my make-up and my style so why would I keep a tattoo forever?

To be on the safe side, I'd use markers specially designed for temporary tattoos. These are available online at a very reasonable price.

You can not get ink poisoning from pen ink,but you can get it from a sharpie pen. This is because the sharpie contains Xylene and this is toxic. The ballpoint pen does not have this and cannot give you ink poisoning because it doesn't sink into your skin like a real tattoo.

@BlackHawkJ20395S actually the skin is permeable to all chemicals so it is possible to get ink poisoning from markers with toxic chemicals in it such as sharpies however it does take a long time for this to occur you would have to draw on yourself a lot for a extended period of time, this is less likely to happen with a non toxic pen like any standard ball point

Using sharpies or any form of pen/ink on your skin CAN give you ink poisoning. This will make you extremely ill and spread through out your blood stream. People have died from ink posion it is not uncommon. It's a risk to your body as and just as bad as the real ink tatto because your pores on your skin soak up the toxic ink which then travel through your blood stream. So think twice before you attempt this.

Wikipedia has a big page on Sharpies that discusses the toxicity question. I don't think it will hurt you if you do it just a few times, but a lot of exposure might be bad, because the pens do contain some toxic ingredients. Check out the Wikipedia page for more info.
