@onecoolgreek What does HD have to do with it? HD doesn't change the fact that the contrast is too high. Take the Earth out of the picture completely and you can open the aperture to pick up the faint light of the stars. Go out to a lighted stadium at night and see if you can see any stars with your naked eye with the stadium lights in your field of view. If your eyes can't do it, how do you expect a camera to pick them up?

that was the plan in the 1960s but they wanted to take up huge payloads and strapping that to the top of a plain from that time its just not gona happen. they could have and can do it with just a crew launch vehicle with no other payload. but to put up hardware like pieces of the space station you just need brute force like the shuttles 4,000,000 of it :)
