It's a shame that my religion has to be paired with such bigoted people. -_-;;; Christianity does NOT give people the right to discriminate on grounds like that...
"Religious freedom" does NOT mean you force your opinion on others, for lack of a better expression.
She is spot on right, some people do seem to be more equal than others. Agree with societies views and you will be supported otherwise you are fair game to be discriminated against.
I would like to know if these gays tried to rent a room at this hotel to give the Christian couple an unnecessary hard life? Looks to me as as the gays intentionally targeted against Christians. As long the Hotel belongs to the couple they have the right to decide whom they allow to stay at it. Sorry for my poor English. Greetings from Middle Europe.
@Dodikind dumbass you just made that up, and whats with the constant 'sorry for my poor english' horsecrap? do u do it to get attention? do u violently masturbate when u get praise? tosspot
I am a woman and as a woman I do need to masturbate before I write a comment. I recommend you not to transfer your own personalitry on other people. Even you call me dumbass I always consider what I want to express. Calling me a dumbass will hardly confirm me to amplify my mental scope. Anyway. I wrote this comment not based on religious ideas, or with politcal intentions. But I learned to make a difference between media propaganda and reality.
@Dodikind i have a fanny too, wots your point?! i recommend you shut the hell up and you consider what you express? what do you want a medal?! being a dumbass yourself changing your mental scope is impossible. liar, you wrote that comment cus you get turned on when people use their religion to support their own prejudices and u wanted to insinuate that gay people are causing a problem... BY TRYING TO RENT A FUCKING ROOM, you wouldn't know reality if it were a ballsack hitting you in the face
The most hilarious and ironic thing about this is the fact that it also means an end to all those "Gay Exclusive- Safe Space" holidays and hotels as well. So what we need now is for the Evangelical Alliance to send a few of their people to one of those establishments and see how they like it.
The point here is that this a private B&B. The booking form these men freely chose to sign makes very clear that double beds are resevered for married heterosexual couples. By signing that they indicated they agreed to be bound by the terms.
Most people would have chosen not to be bound by such terms and found alternative accomodation, but these pair of vampires decided they wanted to make shedloads out of pensioners.
@EqualAndFree And this is a private B&B which stipulates clearly on the booking form that shared beds are reserved soley for married heterosexual couples. In order to have got as far as they did in fleecing this couple the two men already chose to ignore and trash the rulebook in respect to the this place.
She should never have got fined, I wouldn't want two gays sharing a double bed in my house! This is PC gone too far, all the two gays were doing were trying to make money.
Just as a hypothetical if the appeal favours the Bulls, can I open a B&B which discriminated against Christians? Or can a member of the BNP open a B&B that discriminated against blacks? It's one slippery slope...
@LordTowel Or why not follow your logic the full way. Take a bucket of swarfega and a goat to a local monastery, demand a double room and sue the bastards if they refuse on ethical grounds.
After all if we are arguing that it is wrong to discriminate on biologically determined orientation grounds why should we be prejudiced against other minorities like paedophiles and goatshaggers?
@egapnala65 Taking a page from the old book of homophobia I see. There is a clear difference between gays and paedophiles, and it's a matter of consent, if 2 adults (gay or straight) over the age of 16 want to engage in sexual conduct and both consent to it, there is no problem. But with underage sex there can't be consent because the child cannot consent till he/she is 16. And since animals aren't fully sentient they can't consent either. Redering that point void.
@LordTowel Actually you pathetic little thought nazi, I'm gay myself. And you clearly have no idea about anything do you? Alfred Kinsey declared that both homosexuality and paedophilia were biological conditions and that the criminalisation of both owed its origins to religious superstition rather than empirical fact. So if you are going to take umbrage with the religious objections to homosexuals you are also going to have to do it with paedos and goatshaggers. As indeed you eventually will.
@LordTowel And what do you say to evolutionary biologists who declare (like the church) that the only real function of sexuality is to further the species ie. reproduction. Do you hold them to be irrational bigots? Or is it ok because science says it is?
Perhaps similar strings should be organised against scientists as well? After all if you make reproduction the sole, main and only purpose of sex then that throws gays into the same catagory as paedos and goat shaggers.
Which is homophobic.
@LordTowel But as you are so clearly ignorant of what your fellow secularist Kinsey stated, I will summarise. Children are naturally sexual from the age of 18 months and, if left to nature's way, would freely engage in sexual activity with both their peers and with adults. Criminalising this natural curiosity has profound negative psychological effects and means that a lot of people end up being imprisoned for what is essentially natural behaviour......
@LordTowel .....Kinsey also stated that the number of testimonies he read in the course of his research indicated that only a tiny percentage of children were actually traumatised and most of that was caused by the religious hysteria surrounding the topic. He concluded that it would be far more rational to prosecute only those cases that involved actual violence or coercion or where genuine harm could be demonstrated.
The joys of secular morality (contradiction in terms) eh?
How long till more pairs of gays turn up on their doorsteps, determined to ruin anyone who doesn't literally bend over to them......a free holiday in Uganda should solve the problem.
@ikerio Don't care one way or the other personally..my problem is with how all minority groups in this country seem to have carte blanche to inflict themselves on the majority and or other minorities, while Uganda can scream "kill kill" while still pocketing our aid money...so they sue and make a big issue of it, possibly ruining the couple, when they should have just gone elsewhere and got over it !!
Take umbrage with these two..or Uganda....of course...easy target-take the cash!! COWARDS!
@ikerio Quite frankly,attempting to place the CHOICE of being gay on a par with being coloured or disabled is plain sick!! You don't CHOOSE to be coloured....you don't CHOOSE to be disabled...THAT'S WHY THERE'S LAWS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION!!
You CHOOSE to be actively gay..you CHOOSE to enter into a civil partnership!!
If this B&B now banned all male/all female parties, regardless of relation of the party members or party numbers (2), how would that sit with your discrimination act stance?
1)Surely Darwin and the survival of the species shows that all creatures are pre-programmed to continue their species, therefore all members of any species are naturally heterosexual, just as you are born coloured, or sadly born with a disability......so, yes, I do!!
If being gay was by natural selection, according to Darwin, wouldn't that mean it was a natural way of removing gays from existence?
It is something that we know from an early age.The members of society that are deeply offended they'll have to learn to live with people with different orientation.
I understand that after all the years from non-existence the older generations find the novelty strange but new generations seem to be having less trouble accepting it .
Look what would you say if you were a foreigner in a country and the owners of a little hotel where you planned to stay decided to politely turned you away so as no to offend their xenophobia?
It is not as if you were hanged in the middle of the main square and people woud throw eggs at you but it would be an injustice all the same.
@ikerio r they foreigners? NO. Polite xenophobia ? Interesting concept ! :-) Injustice?..Yes....thats when someone keys your car - because they don't have one.. use your doorstep as a toilet after a Saturday night deliberately getting battered....or asks you to leave because they don't "agree" with you... Discrimination?...Stephen Lawrence?..Fiona Pilkington?...they should be ashamed for hiding behind the laws meant for so much more
@billytsoul1 Indeed there is no difference between what evolutionary biology teaches and what the church teaches about homosexuality. However militant atheists selectively ignore that fact as it does not suit their agenda.
If this couple were a pair of scientists declaring homosexuality was a biological maladaption and choosing to discriminate on those grounds it would make an interesting case for secualrists to try and defend.
There's well documented evidence that the homosex is present in some animals of a great variety of species and the explanation of such animal behaviour in some cases point to an advantage.
Likewise in humans there are multiple theories that explain the possibilities of gay genes in the context of evolution without being at odds...... but it is complex to detail here.
I'll inform you that the latest theories play a bigger emphasis on a combination of genes and the amount of testosterone present in the development of the foetus (nature) and only about 20% may be attributed to psicological and other enviromental factors (nurture).
Of course everybody is different and and it would be irrealistic to find a model that suit us all and a good job too bc at the end of the day what does it matter?
3) Cristian is a choice up to a point bc babies get into religious rituals with no choice in the matter I know you can change it in later life but some people get their brain washed in such a way that they cannot see beyond their noses.
5) These two didn't find anything remotely homophobic when they view the place in internet and I'm sure they didn't have a clue what was in store for them.
The fact that they decided NOT to brush it under the carpet as you imply has made public more aware that there still exist unfair situations that need to be dealt with.
It is cinical to suggest that it is money they were after.
The media has amplified it bc it was unprecedented due to their legal status.The owners of the B&B have had some economical help from some Cristian association or other so I very much doubt they are ruined.
@ikerio Christian is a CHOICE....exactly as the CHOICE of being gay...you can be a non practising christian, or a evangelical ...you can be a celebate gay, or be rampantly active ...any reasonable christian follows their faith in a church, they don't go to a mosque, equally muslims freely get to go and worship their faith..they don't invade churches!! It's HAVING RESPECT FOR OTHERS!!!
These two could have easily sourced somewhere warmly welcoming beforehand, not expect everyone bow to them
4) A B&B is NOT a place of worship but a public place regulated by laws and the church in that respect acts like a private club with its own laws so to speak as Equalandfree suggested earlier.
I've never seen any gay couple irrespectfully demanding to get married by forced or invading churches have you?
These two were only asking to be treated like everybody else in a PUBLIC place.
6) And you can also be a gay that is neither celibate nor rampantly active (and I think you mean promiscuos by that term)
You see gay people in spite of false prejudices are not sex maniacs, I know you like to think that we are in bed 24 hours a day at it but I'll inform you again that there's more to sex in this life.
Well, Im in the U.S. so I dont understand your laws in the UK. Public, private, that must be part of the legal code there. Can this idea of a "private club" be advertised as a B&B retreat for married people only in the same manner that "public businesses" can? Or does that "private club" have to maintain some kind of annual membership for each of its patrons? How does this work?
I feel for those people that want to run a Christian establishment. Morally, I dont understand why they cant have their own rules for their house. What if someone wants to run a Christian bible study retreat B&B for married couples to discuss biblical marriage principals? Do they seriously have to allow unmarried gay people into their inn? What about 3 men (or 3 women)? What about swingers? Where does it end? What if there are plenty of other hotels/inns with available rooms?
@EqualAndFree okay, so I can book a family room in a gay hotel can I? We are all free to choose to not stay in a particular B&B, it's called showing respect for others. The concept of the equality legislation is it gives ppl the right to be selfish at the expense of others but you probably know that and don't care anyway.
i actually agree with her on the attack on faith-based adoption agencies. they're being shut down because of gay activism & it's the kids who suffer. as far as the hotel room goes, it is discriminatory but i don't give a shit either way. homosexuals can always find another hotel but should we have to? i don't see it as a major issue. anti-gay hate crimes are a more important issue to focus on
@express375 Muslims arent gay like christians, its against the religion which muslims actually stick by, unlike christians, i mean your teachings clearly say "man shall not lay with man", yet your wack religion allows openly gay PREACHERS to be ordained! You couldnt make it up
Our "wack religion" is very splintered. You make it sound as if we all get together and make up our own collective rules. No one has control over every single Christian's mind set. And, when it comes down to it, we are all subject to the standard, not human rules. So, get real. That said, which denomination are you referring to when you say "yet your wack religion allows openly gay PREACHERS to be ordained!" Im Catholic. I dont know of any openly gay homosexual priests in my church.
@SeaWolfe59 I really dont wana bash an Abrahamic faith, and I genuinely have no ill feeling towards any faith. Its just that, I wana give others a typed out taste of what Muslims are reading and seeing on a daily basis. Your response clearly indicates a defense. Maybe youv had a milimeters experience of what I feel. As far as homosexuality goes, its wrong, not right, bad, no. I guess all shall be revealed after this "paradise" of theirs ends. Peace
Thanks for a reasonable reply. I dont get that very often.
As for my response being a defense, yes, it was. I feel its my duty to level out the playing field. It seems you feel the same way.
In the big picture my faith says we are to love everyone - even our enemies. Thats a tall order and takes hard work. But it is that attitude that can really change the world.
And yes, after this "paradise" theyre creating is over, the truth will be revealed...like a hot flame. Frightening idea.
@SeaWolfe59 True Christians have an enormous amount in common with True Muslims and True Jews. In the Quran it states that some of the Jews and Christians who are true to their Lord will attain everlasting reward. I know the Bible teaches similarily. I sense political/athiestic/hedonistic interferences have created a divide and intimidation vibe between us. Many Muslim rulers have let Christians live in some of the best conditions in their lands, as have many Christian rulers accomodated Muslims
I'm glad Christianity has been marginalized, secular societies rank highest on the human development index. It's high time we, as a race, grew out of these pathetic superstitions.
@EqualAndFree Then you've obviously failed to read my examples. I won't be repeating them. If you want to go back and read them, be my guest. "The anti-discrimination laws treat everyone equally" - no it isn't. Anti discrimination laws which discriminate against Christians are a failed legislation and this needs to be repealed or amended.
Stats show 89% of gay men have sexual tendancies towards minors under the age of 16. Surprisingly a higher percentage, 92%, actually confirmed they felt aroused around 9 year olds. Luckily the annonymous questionaire sent to gay magazine members didnt refer to anyone younger.
@tjunction Nope, u can deny wat i my department has uncovered, not that it wasnt known in the first place, but we did a study and thats what the result came back with. Unfortunately gay men are more likely to have peadophillic tendancies. You can say what u want, but its the truth.
@tjunction Please dont duck the subject at hand by pointing out my intentional spelling irregularities, i mean who are u, a member of the board of directors for the governing body of my depts findings? As I was saying, the topic you keep avoiding/denying is that RECENT STATS SHOW PEADOPHILLIA IS PRETTY MUCH RIFE IN THE MINDS OF GAY MEN.
Why do you have an issue with that.?
Are you gay?
Do you also have pedophillic thoughts?
Theres help you know. Not just for the pedophillic thing
@SICKM0F0 I love how I point out the misspelling of various words by yourself, and your reply still contains such mispellings. It really shines light on your IQ level and that of other people who use an imaginary man in the sky as an excuse to be bigots ;)
This is a clear case over entitlement vs. freedom. Entitlement that anyone should be allowed to everyone's B&B vs. the freedom for someone that runs a B&B to limit access to their B&B within there freedom of religious beliefs. Freedom should always supersede entitlement in a democracy. Entitlement is the power of the government to dictate over individual freedoms of choice. The free market place has created only 1 Christan B&B in the UK, entitlement to this 1 B&B is selfishness over freedom!
@EqualAndFree ..At present, these laws are promoting gays and condemning Christians. No one here is going round pointing the finger at gays calling them more sinful than other people, because Christians know that ALL men and women are sinful and all of us are called to repent of our sin and follow Christ. The law is unfair in its effective targeting of Christians and is contravening the convention on human rights Article 18. It needs to be amended, the sooner the better.
@EqualAndFree Issue is not about 'hating homosexuals', as some gays would like to say it is. Its about the denial of the human right to act within one' s personal religious conscience, in one's daily behaviour personally and publicly. If gays are allowed to be gay anywhere, then the law should allow Christians to be Christians anywhere. What should happen is that each group's personal conscience should be given space to practice.
@EqualAndFree "Elderly" - gay promotion can make demands in homes and good Christian homes will close as a result: "doctors or nurses" - they are being forced to offer treatments that are against their Christian conscience: "homeless": - even here this will impact Christian provision to the homeless as they will not be able to accommodate homosexual couples: Look you have to realise, this is far, far bigger than the disproportionately small homosexual population.
@EqualAndFree ...10 "nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." Here the scripture shows that these people were delivered from the problem of homosexuality. Today, gays deny that its a problem for them, while inwardly struggling with it. But Christ has provided the answer.
@EqualAndFree Listen, Christians do not hate you as a homosexual. In the New Testament, there were many homosexuals who became Christians. They weren't homosexuals any longer after being saved. 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] ....
@EqualAndFree You really haven't thought this through at all have you? First it is obvious that you have no idea of the extent to which Christians are active in this country in their communities, because you focus on your own ideology and haven't grasped the bigger picture. Second these 'laws' are already and will, impact the services that Christians offer throughout the whole country. Leave your sarcasm out, and think again! As I said, your attitude is extremely callous towards the vulnerable
equal rights means she should be able to say who and who cant stay in her house. and if you had any sense at all you would see gays where not banned from the B/B but only the double bed bedrooms. all you horrible ars fucking gay sods can all go to where our civil rights have gone. to fuck
Oh come on. It's common sense that their religion was nothing to do with this. Were they Muslims, Hindu, Jewish or Atheists, the ruling would have been EXACTLY the same. There is nothing to do with Christian rights here, because no Christian beliefs have been infringed. Likewise had a gay couple turned away a Christian couple, then the Christian couple should have won as they would have had their rights infringed, and the fact that the gay couple were gay would have been irrelevant. End of.
@H21esc Not so, but you're entitled to your opinion. Also a Christian couple wouldn't complain at being turned away from a gay B&B. You must realise that this whole thing is a set up? There are 13 LBGT friendly B&B's around Penzance. They are smart people, not innocent victims! They chose this one BECAUSE it was a Christian B&B and BECAUSE it clearly stated its policy on only married couples sharing beds. It was an opportunity to 'punish' a nice, kind Christian couple and make a lot of money
@faithbyloving Well if a Christian couple were turned away from a B&B because they were Christian they would be perfectly within their rights to complain, and they would inevitably win the case. The fact remains that the B&B owners broke the law, and regardless of why the gay couple chose that B&B (If it was malicious, I'll admit they shouldn't have), the B&B owners still broke the law. There is no two ways about it.
@H21esc Well the court's legal decision is that the Christian's couple's policy was in breach of the law and that they therefore 'broke the law' by not allowing the gay couple to sleep together (but if I am honest, I wouldn't want them sleeping together in the bedroom next to mine, would you?). However, at issue here is the so called 'anti-discrimination laws' themselves, which in effect are targeting devout Christians who are bound to act in the conscience and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ
@H21esc Therefore, these laws need to be amended. Part of modern democracy is the human right to act reasonably according to religious conscience and to be able to observe religious requirements. This is in the convention on human rights, Article 18. These laws are therefore verging on illegality themselves. Certainly, they're causing adoption agencies, orphanages, and Christian services for the poor, disabled, disadvantaged, hiv, womens services and countless other Christian services, trouble
@faithbyloving Yes freedom of religion is a human right, providing your religious beliefs don't infringe upon the rights of others. Religion shouldn't be above the law. The fact is that the B&B owners shouldn't have opened a B&B knowing full well that they were going to deny people a good based on their sexuality or marital status, so unless you propose removing the laws banning discrimination on goods and services (Which would put you as a Christian at risk), the ruling wouldn't change at all.
@faithbyloving Also no in this case the B&B owners did not have their rights infringed, because nowhere does anybody have the right to turn people away according to their beliefs. Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Atheists, nobody holds this right. So let's not pretend that religious rights have been infringed here, because contrary to what the right wing media would like you to believe, they haven't, hence why they didn't win the case.
@H21esc ..(cont), while pushing the 'gay rights' promotion into the public eye. Please don't pretend that this was just 'co-incidence' that the B&B was Christian. It wasn't! The gay couple used the web to find it and checked out the B&B website before going and saw it said 'married couples only' in shared beds. This is political capital and personal greed at the expense of a nice Christian couple.
@EqualAndFree There's nothing 'bizarre' about it. These laws are already affecting these multitude of Christian services, many unpaid, to the public and this will only increase. Some of these services will close as a result of discriminatory laws against Christians. It is callous of you to show such an outright disregard for all the vulnerable and needy people that will no longer be helped by your legislation. They will indeed prevent and interfere with charity work, the impact is huge.
@EqualAndFree I'm afraid to say that though I have drawn your attention to the so called 'anti-discriminatory laws' that you espouse, you show a callous disregard for not only Christians rights to work and serve their communities, but also those who they serve, including the old, children, hiv infected, those with disabilities, the depressed and suicidal, the lonely, women, battered women, the list of people who are helped by the Christians that you would see prosecuted is a very long one indeed
@EqualAndFree We are already seeing this happen as the result of the 'wisdom' of democrats whose morality consists of nothing more than their own political ideology. Our society will pay dearly in the years to come for the short sightedness of this kind of approach.
@EqualAndFree Your last comment is irrelevant and has nothing to do with the topic discussed. However, I will draw to your attention, that such barbarities that you mention may result from a democracy, whose citizens hold no deeply held Christian foundational conscience,but which replaces it with your version of sterile shallow democracy, will begin to find that it is committing vile excesses, since it knows no limits other than its own shifting liberality.
@EqualAndFree No. Minorities in a civilised democracy are protected by the law, not targetted and persecuted by it. A retrograde 'democracy' model that you present, is not worthy of 21 century. It may fit ancient Greece where certain people had less rights than others, but today, democracies can be much more sophisticated than your model.
@EqualAndFree This includes Registrars of Marriages and possibly many GP's, Solicitors, health workers, Social workers...etc. This is not justice, this is discrimination on religious grounds and as such is contrary to the convention on human rights, article 18.
@EqualAndFree 3) Any Christian who in their professional work, who cannot because of conscience towards the Lord, get involved with promoting homosexuality, in any way, is now at risk of being dismissed from their place of work, regardless of how much they have contributed to their work or society.
@EqualAndFree 2) Orphanages who as part of Christian work for centuries, have and will be forced to close because of legislation promoting homosexuality. The UK will and is losing this valuable service, that countless children have benefitted from. This is not only wrong towards those Christians, but it is wrong towards the children who are now denied their services.
@EqualAndFree They are unbalanced for the following reasons:
1) B&B's run by Christians, now have to close and lose their businesses and in many cases their ministries (much unpaid) to those in need. This also results in Christians and those who chose such Christian establishments, being denied their choice.
@EqualAndFree Laws should appeal to the conscience of the public, because part of their function is to deter wrong behaviour. They can only work to deter, by appealing to the conscience. They are not just there to penalize. The laws 'SHOULD' be based upon moral principles, but when as is now happening, they are based upon poor foundations, it has the obvious result of discriminating against a minority, in this case, devout Christians. This is wrong. Your theory as outlined here, is wrong
@EqualAndFree ..then in that case, these laws are unbalanced in in themselves, unjust! They must protect ALL citizens, not target a particular group for prosecution, just because it is fashionable to be 'pro-gay' for instance. They should be amended - the sooner the better.
@EqualAndFree These laws are targetting vulnerable Christians, who have to act only in obedience to the Lord. They do not have choice in the matter. These laws are discriminating against Christians, no one else.
@EqualAndFree Furthermore, what 'effect' does you 'restriction' of acts of terrorism have? Does it appeal to the conscience of the terrorist, so that he then says 'Oh, I must not do that?' or is it rather the case that the people who are actually targetted by these so called 'anti-discrimination laws', are Christians whose obedience to the Lord and moral conscience, cannot allow them to agree to those things the Bible defines as immoral or disobedience?
@EqualAndFree ....the quality of profound conscience, which were the foundation stones of our nation. Let me emphasise again to you - Democracy which removes the profound religious conscience of its citizens, is not true democracy and will lead to its own demise. Democracy will die if it drowns the religious conscience of its own citizens!
@EqualAndFree So are acts of compassion, but even these are being impinged by UK legislation. People are not stupid. Sound minded law makers know perfectly well what can be described as reasonable observance of conscience, as distinct from acts of terrorism. However, the truth is, conscience in the UK, is itself becoming more and more dimmed as the UK has in general neglected its traditional spirituality and Christian foundations,leading to increasingly immoral laws being passed without
@EqualAndFree The Universal Declaration of Human Rights article 18: "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, CONSCIENCE AND RELIGION; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone OR IN COMMUNITY with others and IN PUBLIC or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, PRACTICE, worship and OBSERVANCE." This is enshrined as a basic human right, so the 'anti-discrimination laws' are themselves verging on illegality.
@EqualAndFree I follow your thinking, but it neglects the rights of humanity to follow personal conscience in matters of sincerely held faith in respect of obedience to God and towards the well being of mankind. Such 'laws' should not have been passed in the knowledge that they discriminate against Christians.
@EqualAndFree Whether or not, you describe such laws as 'even handed', does not alter the fact that they are discriminating against Christians. You can't get round this, because that is exactly the effect of this kind of legislation, which is why it has to be changed. This is mirrored in adoption and fostering policies discriminating against Christians and Christian orphanages, Registrars of marriages, denying Christians from excercising freedom of religious conscience.
@EqualAndFree The so called 'anti discrimination laws' are actually discriminating against Christians in business, for instance in this case, B&B operation. They are therefore hypocritical, since they discriminate against the B&B owner, in favour of homosexuals. This means they are Discriminatory laws promoting Discrimination. Where this kind of legislation is going wrong, is that it fails to take into account the human rights of people to practice their sincere and legitimate faith.
You would be free to do so in this country if you wanted to behave rudely and in a way that the couple dragged to court did not.. But if you see by your own choice of words... you're implying that these people 'politely' used a word like 'repellent' (quite emotive and sensationalist) to address the gay couple. Just like the journalist used the word 'banned'. You're entitled to your opinion, but let's stick to the facts about what has been said and done.
@EqualAndFree We will soon see the outrageous hypocrisy of so called 'anti discrimination laws', at work, when Islam starts stamping its feet. You'll soon see the government bowing in appeasement to Islamic demands to repeal these laws! These laws may well be ammended or simply unworkable and unenforceable ultimately.
@EqualAndFree No you won't. That is mere bravo talk. Nothing more. Believe me there will be a clash at some point between Islam and homosexuality in this country. When it happens it will not be pleasant to say the least and you will be nowhere to be found defending anyone!
Interesting how the newscaster reports "how the owner of a B&B 'BANNED' a gay couple from staying, etc..." Anyone else think that 'banned' is emotive, sensationalist language? I believe this couple were extremely polite to the gay couple and explained their beliefs and moral standards, which they felt applied under their own roof.
If you want to give the government control over entitlement that will outweigh personal freedom of choice you do not deserve freedom. I support your freedom to have a gay only Bed and Breakfast because I support freedom within this individual liberty of choice, not governed control via a false sense of entitlement!!!
There are "rights" for everyone in the EEC....except Christians. In Glasgow homosexuals dressed as nuns and priests mocked our God...yet Firemen who were offended were disciplined. The bible had vile blasphemies and obsecenities written on it in a publicly funded art exhibition in Glasgow. Not one politician objected, yet when someone threatens to burn the Koran...they all go nuts. The PC brigade are like the NAZIS and what is happening to Christians mirrors perseuction of Jews in Nazi Germany.
@laserthebeam Well in that case, the only rights YOU should have are in your home and nowhere else. So when you are 'obligated' to do something which you know and believe to be wrong and harmful, you will have to do it, regardless of the harm it causes. For instance, if you are ordered to kill by the law and this is against your conscience, you will have to do it regardless of the harm it causes those you kill, simply because as an automaton, you always obey the law even when the law is wrong.
@EqualAndFree You realize that they have also banned gay only Bed and Breakfasts in this case, don't you? I love liberty and liberty only comes from the people, not the government!
~ "The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." ~ Thomas Jefferson
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember no servant is greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me."
True liberty in a free market place should allow for any, including a gay only bed and breakfast. These current times of "I have a right to tell you want to do, how to serve me and serve me now..." is what is wrong wit this world, not right!
If you want to start a Bed and Breakfast just for gays you should have this right, why not? This is true freedom, not this entitlement mentality that if I can't attend, no one can!
So what youre saying is, a true market should entitle anyone to be discriminatory to any section of society? Think about it - a whites only B&B, a shop that doesnt sell to disabled people. Does that sound ok to you?
I am taking about the issues here in this case. Please stick to the facts in this case alone, if you have to use other non-related samples as rebuttals you have already lost your argument in the facts in this case!!! I am saying that one freedom does not outweigh another and the free market place with take care of the rest. This is only one B&B out of thousands. Anyone should have a right to market their to whom they see fit and supply and demand will work the rest out.
I was giving examples that you are discussing. It is on topic.
In that case then, anyone should have the right to dismiss religious couples. That is not acceptable, and nor is dismissing a legally bound gay couple.
True liberty in a free market place should allow for any, including a gay only bed and breakfast. These current times of "I have a right to tell you want to do, how to serve me and serve me now..." is what is wrong wit this world, not right!

What reason would a gay club have to ban Christians?
I think to look at this argument, you'd have to ask - if someone didnt like black people, would they have a legal right to deny any black people into their private home? Their reasons are based on bigotry only.
Well done thou "wise" judge. You have just discriminated against a whole swade of British population by pressurizing them not to enter the hospitality industry.
I would welcome any right to run their B&B how they see fit. These current times of "I have a right to tell you want to do, how to serve me and serve me now..." is what is wrong wit this world, not right!
You have the liberty to shop or stay at any other place you want, the free market works great and has room for all. If you want to start a Bed and Breakfast just for gays should have a right, why not? This is true freedom, not this entitlement mentality that if I can't attend, no one can!
Look, their are boys scouts and this is just for boys like girls scouts are just for girls. There are golf clubs that only allow men or ones in which you need to prove a certain amount of wealth to be a member. There are groups in which you need to prove a very high IQ to be a member, stupid not apply. These are prevalent samples in society today and completely legal!
It being illegal to open a Christian based Bed and Breakfast with standards based in religion is anti-liberty!!!
That doesn't go against equality though does it? Because for example, Mensa award people based on their intelligence level. If they let anyone in, would it even be Mensa anymore? A religious belief based on a 2000 year old book is not quite the same thing because not everyone believes what Christianity teaches. If you are not intelligent enough to join Mensa, why bother with Mensa? Or a university like Cambridge? Not the same thing at all.
I'll say this right now. Imagine this scenario for a second.
A gay couple own a B&B and have a long standing policy of 'no christian married couples'. What then would be the repercussions? Would the B&B owners have any right to enforce this? No, for the simple reason that they have no lawful stand point. Christian teachings from the bible do not work in modern society. Homosexuals have as much right to live the life of married couples as much as anyone. Its about time religion realised this.
She has no such rules against race, that comparison is ridiculous! A 5 star hotel has higher standards more so than a 1 star hotel. Standards of gated neighborhood vs non=gated ones is seen all over and nothing new. Stating that is it against the law to own and run a Christian Bed and Breakfast is not equal nor free!
Rules like I stated; No pets, not parties, no loud music are legal under the law. Equally comes from a free market place, not a limited one!. You are forcing all renters and owners to live under one set of rules and one type of living arrangements with said limits under the guise of "equally. You redefine freedom as only for secularist in this case. Now we can not own or run a Christian Bed and Breakfast, how is this equal and free? A free market place is should be free for all!
Mrs. Bull, nobody is "forcing" you to act against your "deeply and genuinely held religious beliefs": you chose to open your home as a hotel. If I didn't like unmarried couples, of whatever sexual orientation copulating on my sheets, then I wouldn't charge people money to sleep on them.
Of course, if we see a lack of such cases also coming against muslims, then we may begin to suspect that only Christians are being targetted for this humiliating treatment by homosexuals, the government and the courts?? The macho style suing against Christians and not against Muslims, will then be seen for what it is - opportunistic bullying and abuse of some of the most consciencious people in our society (Christians), and Cowardice in the face of Islam!
The time will come, when this very issue clashes with muslims in our society. It cannot be far off. We wait to see the repercussions of gay couples suing and gay groups politically attacking our now established Islamic society. I can assure you, when that happens, there will be a sea change of direction and back peddling as government tries to reverse or ammend its 'moral decisions' to give superior rights to homosexual people, over the majority heterosexual and against the religion of Islam.
clearly a well ajusted, thoughful and kind person who isn't homophobic. UK law has changed now to make discrimination legal against Christians. This was never about gay rights but always about Christian bashing
However, for the Bull's, this is an extremely stressful time and my sympathies are with them. They are walking with the Lord and may the Lord bless and keep them through this difficult time. No doubt, the 'homosexual couple' are laughing all the way to the bank after being so 'upset'. However, making political capital out of devout and sincere Christians, is a cheap trick for homosexual groups to play.
@laserthebeam Maybe you should visit Nigeria,or maybe Iraq,or maybe Egypt where Christians are being systematically slaughtered..... small children being hacked to death. But hey, it's all a big joke to you,right? Maybe when atheists are getting the same treatment you will feel different.
We should have a freedom of rights in choice not to self-profit in what we perceive as sin. We should not be forced to sin our-self by accepting involvement in the support of sin as stated in our beliefs. If this was an atheist and stated that the tenets could not own a dog or play loud music or drink or do drugs how is this any different in freedom of choice? The owner of an place for rent should be able to apply ANY such conditions for others to live under their roof, why not?
In all honesty, I would find it acceptable if that circumstance arose. We live in a soceity where people should be free to make such choices. If I was staying in a Muslim's home and they really did not want me praying, I wouldn't find it unacceptable that they made me leave. Or if I was in an atheist's home. People should not have to suddenly become agnostic when they take up a certain occupation.
Yes, that is true. It was prophesied to happen and the more it happens, the more it will multiply the Christian faith. This may sound strange, but the reality is, that is how the Christian faith blossomed in the first place and all through history, it has repeated almost without fail. So yes, the result of persecution of Christians will lead to a significant growth of them, not only in number, but in conviction. It will bring a new breed of strong Christian faith.
@faithbyloving do you not see the irony in feeling persecuted for being told off for persecuting? just because they also persecuted against unmarried couples who were heterosexual does not make itok...
It's a shame that my religion has to be paired with such bigoted people. -_-;;; Christianity does NOT give people the right to discriminate on grounds like that...
"Religious freedom" does NOT mean you force your opinion on others, for lack of a better expression.

Most people would have chosen not to be bound by such terms and found alternative accomodation, but these pair of vampires decided they wanted to make shedloads out of pensioners.
egapnala65 11 months ago
@EqualAndFree And this is a private B&B which stipulates clearly on the booking form that shared beds are reserved soley for married heterosexual couples. In order to have got as far as they did in fleecing this couple the two men already chose to ignore and trash the rulebook in respect to the this place.

LordTowel 1 year ago 2
@LordTowel Or why not follow your logic the full way. Take a bucket of swarfega and a goat to a local monastery, demand a double room and sue the bastards if they refuse on ethical grounds.
After all if we are arguing that it is wrong to discriminate on biologically determined orientation grounds why should we be prejudiced against other minorities like paedophiles and goatshaggers?
egapnala65 11 months ago
@egapnala65 Taking a page from the old book of homophobia I see. There is a clear difference between gays and paedophiles, and it's a matter of consent, if 2 adults (gay or straight) over the age of 16 want to engage in sexual conduct and both consent to it, there is no problem. But with underage sex there can't be consent because the child cannot consent till he/she is 16. And since animals aren't fully sentient they can't consent either. Redering that point void.
LordTowel 11 months ago 4
@LordTowel Actually you pathetic little thought nazi, I'm gay myself. And you clearly have no idea about anything do you? Alfred Kinsey declared that both homosexuality and paedophilia were biological conditions and that the criminalisation of both owed its origins to religious superstition rather than empirical fact. So if you are going to take umbrage with the religious objections to homosexuals you are also going to have to do it with paedos and goatshaggers. As indeed you eventually will.
egapnala65 11 months ago
@LordTowel And what do you say to evolutionary biologists who declare (like the church) that the only real function of sexuality is to further the species ie. reproduction. Do you hold them to be irrational bigots? Or is it ok because science says it is?
Perhaps similar strings should be organised against scientists as well? After all if you make reproduction the sole, main and only purpose of sex then that throws gays into the same catagory as paedos and goat shaggers.
egapnala65 11 months ago

egapnala65 11 months ago
@LordTowel But as you are so clearly ignorant of what your fellow secularist Kinsey stated, I will summarise. Children are naturally sexual from the age of 18 months and, if left to nature's way, would freely engage in sexual activity with both their peers and with adults. Criminalising this natural curiosity has profound negative psychological effects and means that a lot of people end up being imprisoned for what is essentially natural behaviour......
egapnala65 11 months ago

The only problem here is your inability of accepting people different from you.
ikerio 1 year ago
@ikerio Don't care one way or the other personally..my problem is with how all minority groups in this country seem to have carte blanche to inflict themselves on the majority and or other minorities, while Uganda can scream "kill kill" while still pocketing our aid money...so they sue and make a big issue of it, possibly ruining the couple, when they should have just gone elsewhere and got over it !!
Take umbrage with these two..or Uganda....of course...easy target-take the cash!! COWARDS!
billytsoul1 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
Ok Gays are a minority group that are entitled to have the same rights as anybody else.
The couple reported a situation that was clearly against the Discrimination Act as you might have done if
you saw a disabled person, black, cristian etc being turned away in the same way.
ikerio 1 year ago
@ikerio Quite frankly,attempting to place the CHOICE of being gay on a par with being coloured or disabled is plain sick!! You don't CHOOSE to be coloured....you don't CHOOSE to be disabled...THAT'S WHY THERE'S LAWS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION!!
You CHOOSE to be actively gay..you CHOOSE to enter into a civil partnership!!
If this B&B now banned all male/all female parties, regardless of relation of the party members or party numbers (2), how would that sit with your discrimination act stance?
billytsoul1 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
1) Do you have any scientific evidence that being gay IS a choice or is it just a subjective opinion (prejudice)?
Were you given the choice of being heterosexual? so why is it that ONLY gay people are given the privilege of choosing their orientation?
ikerio 1 year ago
@ikerio
1)Surely Darwin and the survival of the species shows that all creatures are pre-programmed to continue their species, therefore all members of any species are naturally heterosexual, just as you are born coloured, or sadly born with a disability......so, yes, I do!!
If being gay was by natural selection, according to Darwin, wouldn't that mean it was a natural way of removing gays from existence?
billytsoul1 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
No you don't choose to be gay in most cases.
It is something that we know from an early age.The members of society that are deeply offended they'll have to learn to live with people with different orientation.
I understand that after all the years from non-existence the older generations find the novelty strange but new generations seem to be having less trouble accepting it .
ikerio 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
Look what would you say if you were a foreigner in a country and the owners of a little hotel where you planned to stay decided to politely turned you away so as no to offend their xenophobia?
It is not as if you were hanged in the middle of the main square and people woud throw eggs at you but it would be an injustice all the same.
ikerio 1 year ago 4
@ikerio r they foreigners? NO. Polite xenophobia ? Interesting concept ! :-) Injustice?..Yes....thats when someone keys your car - because they don't have one.. use your doorstep as a toilet after a Saturday night deliberately getting battered....or asks you to leave because they don't "agree" with you... Discrimination?...Stephen Lawrence?..Fiona Pilkington?...they should be ashamed for hiding behind the laws meant for so much more
billytsoul1 1 year ago
@billytsoul1 Indeed there is no difference between what evolutionary biology teaches and what the church teaches about homosexuality. However militant atheists selectively ignore that fact as it does not suit their agenda.
If this couple were a pair of scientists declaring homosexuality was a biological maladaption and choosing to discriminate on those grounds it would make an interesting case for secualrists to try and defend.
egapnala65 11 months ago
@ikerio you choose to be gay... and all gay couples are aware that some members of society are deeply offended by that...and always will be..
.so these two people running a little B&B politely turned them away...
.so what?...
were they tarred and feathered, stoned out of the village under floodlights with signs saying "arse bandit bastards" round their necks.....
They should talk to some coloured/disabled people,find out what REAL discrimination looks / feels like..and stop being so precious!
billytsoul1 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
There's well documented evidence that the homosex is present in some animals of a great variety of species and the explanation of such animal behaviour in some cases point to an advantage.
Likewise in humans there are multiple theories that explain the possibilities of gay genes in the context of evolution without being at odds...... but it is complex to detail here.
ikerio 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
I'll inform you that the latest theories play a bigger emphasis on a combination of genes and the amount of testosterone present in the development of the foetus (nature) and only about 20% may be attributed to psicological and other enviromental factors (nurture).
Of course everybody is different and and it would be irrealistic to find a model that suit us all and a good job too bc at the end of the day what does it matter?
ikerio 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
3) Cristian is a choice up to a point bc babies get into religious rituals with no choice in the matter I know you can change it in later life but some people get their brain washed in such a way that they cannot see beyond their noses.

5) These two didn't find anything remotely homophobic when they view the place in internet and I'm sure they didn't have a clue what was in store for them.
ikerio 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
The fact that they decided NOT to brush it under the carpet as you imply has made public more aware that there still exist unfair situations that need to be dealt with.
It is cinical to suggest that it is money they were after.
The media has amplified it bc it was unprecedented due to their legal status.The owners of the B&B have had some economical help from some Cristian association or other so I very much doubt they are ruined.
ikerio 1 year ago
@ikerio Christian is a CHOICE....exactly as the CHOICE of being gay...you can be a non practising christian, or a evangelical ...you can be a celebate gay, or be rampantly active ...any reasonable christian follows their faith in a church, they don't go to a mosque, equally muslims freely get to go and worship their faith..they don't invade churches!! It's HAVING RESPECT FOR OTHERS!!!
These two could have easily sourced somewhere warmly welcoming beforehand, not expect everyone bow to them
billytsoul1 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
There have always been gays and there will always be gays the sooner you'll accept this fact the happier you'll become.
2) We are talking about consenting couples which have some LEGAL status.
Poligamia of any type is not recognized by the law in this part of the world as far as I know so this is entirely another subject.
ikerio 1 year ago
@billytsoul1
Is it that difficult to understand?
ikerio 1 year ago 3
@billytsoul1
6) And you can also be a gay that is neither celibate nor rampantly active (and I think you mean promiscuos by that term)
You see gay people in spite of false prejudices are not sex maniacs, I know you like to think that we are in bed 24 hours a day at it but I'll inform you again that there's more to sex in this life.
ikerio 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree

What if there are plenty of other hotels/inns with available rooms?

i actually agree with her on the attack on faith-based adoption agencies. they're being shut down because of gay activism & it's the kids who suffer. as far as the hotel room goes, it is discriminatory but i don't give a shit either way. homosexuals can always find another hotel but should we have to? i don't see it as a major issue. anti-gay hate crimes are a more important issue to focus on

WILLTHEWGMAN 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree ..At present, these laws are promoting gays and condemning Christians. No one here is going round pointing the finger at gays calling them more sinful than other people, because Christians know that ALL men and women are sinful and all of us are called to repent of our sin and follow Christ. The law is unfair in its effective targeting of Christians and is contravening the convention on human rights Article 18. It needs to be amended, the sooner the better.
faithbyloving 1 year ago

But Christ has provided the answer.
faithbyloving 1 year ago

End of.
H21esc 1 year ago
@H21esc Not so, but you're entitled to your opinion. Also a Christian couple wouldn't complain at being turned away from a gay B&B. You must realise that this whole thing is a set up? There are 13 LBGT friendly B&B's around Penzance. They are smart people, not innocent victims! They chose this one BECAUSE it was a Christian B&B and BECAUSE it clearly stated its policy on only married couples sharing beds. It was an opportunity to 'punish' a nice, kind Christian couple and make a lot of money
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@faithbyloving Well if a Christian couple were turned away from a B&B because they were Christian they would be perfectly within their rights to complain, and they would inevitably win the case. The fact remains that the B&B owners broke the law, and regardless of why the gay couple chose that B&B (If it was malicious, I'll admit they shouldn't have), the B&B owners still broke the law. There is no two ways about it.
H21esc 1 year ago
@H21esc Well the court's legal decision is that the Christian's couple's policy was in breach of the law and that they therefore 'broke the law' by not allowing the gay couple to sleep together (but if I am honest, I wouldn't want them sleeping together in the bedroom next to mine, would you?). However, at issue here is the so called 'anti-discrimination laws' themselves, which in effect are targeting devout Christians who are bound to act in the conscience and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@H21esc Therefore, these laws need to be amended. Part of modern democracy is the human right to act reasonably according to religious conscience and to be able to observe religious requirements. This is in the convention on human rights, Article 18. These laws are therefore verging on illegality themselves. Certainly, they're causing adoption agencies, orphanages, and Christian services for the poor, disabled, disadvantaged, hiv, womens services and countless other Christian services, trouble
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@faithbyloving Yes freedom of religion is a human right, providing your religious beliefs don't infringe upon the rights of others. Religion shouldn't be above the law. The fact is that the B&B owners shouldn't have opened a B&B knowing full well that they were going to deny people a good based on their sexuality or marital status, so unless you propose removing the laws banning discrimination on goods and services (Which would put you as a Christian at risk), the ruling wouldn't change at all.
H21esc 1 year ago
@faithbyloving Also no in this case the B&B owners did not have their rights infringed, because nowhere does anybody have the right to turn people away according to their beliefs. Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Atheists, nobody holds this right. So let's not pretend that religious rights have been infringed here, because contrary to what the right wing media would like you to believe, they haven't, hence why they didn't win the case.
H21esc 1 year ago
@H21esc ..(cont), while pushing the 'gay rights' promotion into the public eye. Please don't pretend that this was just 'co-incidence' that the B&B was Christian. It wasn't! The gay couple used the web to find it and checked out the B&B website before going and saw it said 'married couples only' in shared beds. This is political capital and personal greed at the expense of a nice Christian couple.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree There's nothing 'bizarre' about it. These laws are already affecting these multitude of Christian services, many unpaid, to the public and this will only increase. Some of these services will close as a result of discriminatory laws against Christians. It is callous of you to show such an outright disregard for all the vulnerable and needy people that will no longer be helped by your legislation. They will indeed prevent and interfere with charity work, the impact is huge.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree I'm afraid to say that though I have drawn your attention to the so called 'anti-discriminatory laws' that you espouse, you show a callous disregard for not only Christians rights to work and serve their communities, but also those who they serve, including the old, children, hiv infected, those with disabilities, the depressed and suicidal, the lonely, women, battered women, the list of people who are helped by the Christians that you would see prosecuted is a very long one indeed
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree We are already seeing this happen as the result of the 'wisdom' of democrats whose morality consists of nothing more than their own political ideology. Our society will pay dearly in the years to come for the short sightedness of this kind of approach.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree Your last comment is irrelevant and has nothing to do with the topic discussed. However, I will draw to your attention, that such barbarities that you mention may result from a democracy, whose citizens hold no deeply held Christian foundational conscience,but which replaces it with your version of sterile shallow democracy, will begin to find that it is committing vile excesses, since it knows no limits other than its own shifting liberality.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree No. Minorities in a civilised democracy are protected by the law, not targetted and persecuted by it. A retrograde 'democracy' model that you present, is not worthy of 21 century. It may fit ancient Greece where certain people had less rights than others, but today, democracies can be much more sophisticated than your model.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree This includes Registrars of Marriages and possibly many GP's, Solicitors, health workers, Social workers...etc. This is not justice, this is discrimination on religious grounds and as such is contrary to the convention on human rights, article 18.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree 3) Any Christian who in their professional work, who cannot because of conscience towards the Lord, get involved with promoting homosexuality, in any way, is now at risk of being dismissed from their place of work, regardless of how much they have contributed to their work or society.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree 2) Orphanages who as part of Christian work for centuries, have and will be forced to close because of legislation promoting homosexuality. The UK will and is losing this valuable service, that countless children have benefitted from. This is not only wrong towards those Christians, but it is wrong towards the children who are now denied their services.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree They are unbalanced for the following reasons:
1) B&B's run by Christians, now have to close and lose their businesses and in many cases their ministries (much unpaid) to those in need. This also results in Christians and those who chose such Christian establishments, being denied their choice.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree Laws should appeal to the conscience of the public, because part of their function is to deter wrong behaviour. They can only work to deter, by appealing to the conscience. They are not just there to penalize. The laws 'SHOULD' be based upon moral principles, but when as is now happening, they are based upon poor foundations, it has the obvious result of discriminating against a minority, in this case, devout Christians. This is wrong. Your theory as outlined here, is wrong
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree ..then in that case, these laws are unbalanced in in themselves, unjust! They must protect ALL citizens, not target a particular group for prosecution, just because it is fashionable to be 'pro-gay' for instance. They should be amended - the sooner the better.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree These laws are targetting vulnerable Christians, who have to act only in obedience to the Lord. They do not have choice in the matter. These laws are discriminating against Christians, no one else.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree Furthermore, what 'effect' does you 'restriction' of acts of terrorism have? Does it appeal to the conscience of the terrorist, so that he then says 'Oh, I must not do that?' or is it rather the case that the people who are actually targetted by these so called 'anti-discrimination laws', are Christians whose obedience to the Lord and moral conscience, cannot allow them to agree to those things the Bible defines as immoral or disobedience?
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree ....the quality of profound conscience, which were the foundation stones of our nation. Let me emphasise again to you - Democracy which removes the profound religious conscience of its citizens, is not true democracy and will lead to its own demise. Democracy will die if it drowns the religious conscience of its own citizens!
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree So are acts of compassion, but even these are being impinged by UK legislation. People are not stupid. Sound minded law makers know perfectly well what can be described as reasonable observance of conscience, as distinct from acts of terrorism. However, the truth is, conscience in the UK, is itself becoming more and more dimmed as the UK has in general neglected its traditional spirituality and Christian foundations,leading to increasingly immoral laws being passed without
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree You must protect freedom of conscience. It is a basic human right and an essential part of democracy.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree The Universal Declaration of Human Rights article 18: "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, CONSCIENCE AND RELIGION; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone OR IN COMMUNITY with others and IN PUBLIC or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, PRACTICE, worship and OBSERVANCE." This is enshrined as a basic human right, so the 'anti-discrimination laws' are themselves verging on illegality.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree I follow your thinking, but it neglects the rights of humanity to follow personal conscience in matters of sincerely held faith in respect of obedience to God and towards the well being of mankind. Such 'laws' should not have been passed in the knowledge that they discriminate against Christians.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree Whether or not, you describe such laws as 'even handed', does not alter the fact that they are discriminating against Christians. You can't get round this, because that is exactly the effect of this kind of legislation, which is why it has to be changed. This is mirrored in adoption and fostering policies discriminating against Christians and Christian orphanages, Registrars of marriages, denying Christians from excercising freedom of religious conscience.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree The so called 'anti discrimination laws' are actually discriminating against Christians in business, for instance in this case, B&B operation. They are therefore hypocritical, since they discriminate against the B&B owner, in favour of homosexuals. This means they are Discriminatory laws promoting Discrimination. Where this kind of legislation is going wrong, is that it fails to take into account the human rights of people to practice their sincere and legitimate faith.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree
You're entitled to your opinion, but let's stick to the facts about what has been said and done.
food4greymatter 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree We will soon see the outrageous hypocrisy of so called 'anti discrimination laws', at work, when Islam starts stamping its feet. You'll soon see the government bowing in appeasement to Islamic demands to repeal these laws! These laws may well be ammended or simply unworkable and unenforceable ultimately.
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree No you won't. That is mere bravo talk. Nothing more. Believe me there will be a clash at some point between Islam and homosexuality in this country. When it happens it will not be pleasant to say the least and you will be nowhere to be found defending anyone!
faithbyloving 1 year ago
Interesting how the newscaster reports "how the owner of a B&B 'BANNED' a gay couple from staying, etc..." Anyone else think that 'banned' is emotive, sensationalist language? I believe this couple were extremely polite to the gay couple and explained their beliefs and moral standards, which they felt applied under their own roof.

@WILLTHEWGMAN
Jools86 1 year ago
I'll say this right now. Imagine this scenario for a second.
A gay couple own a B&B and have a long standing policy of 'no christian married couples'. What then would be the repercussions? Would the B&B owners have any right to enforce this? No, for the simple reason that they have no lawful stand point. Christian teachings from the bible do not work in modern society. Homosexuals have as much right to live the life of married couples as much as anyone. Its about time religion realised this.
Jools86 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree
WILLTHEWGMAN 1 year ago
@EqualAndFree
WILLTHEWGMAN 1 year ago
Mrs. Bull, nobody is "forcing" you to act against your "deeply and genuinely held religious beliefs": you chose to open your home as a hotel. If I didn't like unmarried couples, of whatever sexual orientation copulating on my sheets, then I wouldn't charge people money to sleep on them.
olliepalmerdotcom 1 year ago
Of course, if we see a lack of such cases also coming against muslims, then we may begin to suspect that only Christians are being targetted for this humiliating treatment by homosexuals, the government and the courts?? The macho style suing against Christians and not against Muslims, will then be seen for what it is - opportunistic bullying and abuse of some of the most consciencious people in our society (Christians), and Cowardice in the face of Islam!
faithbyloving 1 year ago
@faithbyloving
Cowardice because Islamic fundamentalists are threatening anyone who oppose their religion with VIOLENCE. Thats the difference.
Christians need to wake up and realise what the bible says, does not stand up as a separate law in this country.
Jools86 1 year ago
The time will come, when this very issue clashes with muslims in our society. It cannot be far off. We wait to see the repercussions of gay couples suing and gay groups politically attacking our now established Islamic society. I can assure you, when that happens, there will be a sea change of direction and back peddling as government tries to reverse or ammend its 'moral decisions' to give superior rights to homosexual people, over the majority heterosexual and against the religion of Islam.
