The head actually came from a commercial meat-packing plant. Not sure exactly what kind of product(s) the head is normally made into, but they must use them for SOMETHING as they're not cheap! XD

It was interesting how all the different kinds of animals did their part... First, the flies came and their larvae (maggots) devoured all the soft tissue. Many other animals came to feed on the larvae, but I didn't see ANY of them touch the head while it was still soft and VERY smelly. After a few weeks, the tough parts dried out and turned into jerky. That's when the squirrels (and some mice and rats) showed up, and gnawed it to bits with their sharp teeth. :-)
