really looking forward to the tour in 2012! It was an unbelievable experience seeing this band live for the first time in 2010, with an almost full line-up!

@MadMonie89 absolutely not i love the beach boys and bjm, alls you could say is that he chord progressions sound vaguely similar. poor shout Monie, you are Mad

@chisoxbaseball24 and a really good copliment to the black angels is my band, Bad Vibrations! Now, someone needs to have a band who is a good compliment to mine so the cycle can continue.
The BJM play "Servo" at the end because, as the most perfect psychedelic rock song experience ever, it would be reckless to play it anywhere else. The earth has bounds on how fucked up you can be and if you are that high early in a BJM show, the other songs will explode your mind, irrevocably. My God. This song is magic. It beat its way into my brain and burrowed deep where the dopamine grows and it fertilizes it and it waters it and it harvests it. I am the dopamine king of my kingdom and i can knock a dragon out of the sky, 10000 feet high, by visualizing guitars.
@upsetmindedgmail Thanks ... these guys are real fkn space warriors and inter-galactic shamans ... how do I know this? I know this because the satiation curve (see: Semantic Satiation, for conceptual continuity) does not trend down like w the sonic crap pinging the atmosphere and killing snow geese but trends up and up into the Dopamine Belts of Saturn into the Enchantments of Neptune into the Supernova in my fkn head. :-)
The brian jonestown massacre and not overrated whatsoever. I never hear people talking about them or giving them any praise. I go to an art school with a ton of pretentious hipster dickheads and none of them rep this band at all. ! I think some of their music is really well composed, not everything is amazing but they do have some really great songs. I watched Dig! and found it really interesting too . They are a cool band, I like them,.
Tube Cowp. They are not playing Techno or Hanna Montana. They are playing music that feels real nice on the inside, particularly if blaring out of a nice PA and you are wacked off your head. It is fair to say taht they guys and their DIG mates the Dandies music is pretty much more relevant when one is a tad under the influence of something besides party drugs.
@ fashioncorpse, Why do you think your music is superior? You look at it from a technical, mathematical point of view. Yes Zappa is more skilled, but if you really know Zappa, you know its mathematics.. Trying to get a feeling across is different. You can get people to practise mathematical music, and in the end, they will master it. Play from the heart, and offer that to a crowd.. You cant 'teach' people that, thats talent.
I prefer music from the heart, you from the mind. What is superior?
@slowmotionsystem Why consider pitting me? I listen to superior music. You prefer to listen to a herion addict who sing's like he's taking his last breath on stage. "his lyrics are magical... he can play like 80 instruments..." Truth is He bites people's riffs, his lyrics are about as complicated as a piece of string and he can't play ONE instrument well. He gets in fights with his band-mates on stage, Unprofessional.
@slowmotionsystem I don't like the Dandy Warhols either, Them and BJM are the opposite of good music, Good music is supposed to be creative and contain new ideas, not just recycle old ones. I understand most chord progressions have been done before, but if Ozric Tentacles can find a way to make unique music, someone that actually has a hipster audience should be able to as well. BJM is Stagnant.
@slowmotionsystem Yeah, it's like Zappa had so much soul he didn't have to sing it, listen to "Black Napkins" and then tell me who is more soulfull. Fucking kids, only listening to lyrics. if you want words read a fucking book.
@slowmotionsystem First off, the math they do is pretty far from simple. Second off, If you are somehow claiming that Anton Newcombe plays with more soul than Frank Zappa then you need to show me that rock you've been living under so that other people don't become this ignorant. Is that his soul that makes him sing in a fake brittish accent?
Don't be stupid, it isn't the playing of a song that makes it easy or hard, it's the composition and the writing of words and music. Jesus H. anyone can be taught to play almost anything but very few can write and compose anything. Holy crap.
I don't really see the point of arguing over this performance and the band.If you don't like something, don't listen to it,you idiots. It only matters the feelings you get from the music, obviously you don't get any,so go somewhere else to write your shits.
This band is unique, they really got that "thing",and don't bother me with saying that anyone could play this one.No one could make music like this,I bet you mindless fucks don't even have a fuckin' single. So fuck off, nobody knows you,you fucks
If this is what they are like live, I will make sure to skip seeing them. Playing like it is on the album verbatim, too many people on stage for the sound that they get, and it dosen't even sound like the vocalist is trying. MEDIOCRE!!!
I think you are being really harsh. Would you have preferred some sort of electro/Jazz fusion version of the song? It's .....::::###{{{THE SHIT}}}###::::....IMO.
@TubeCowp I'm just saying I could get FOUR high school kids that have been playing for 2 years and they could play this song exactly as these chumps are. I guess I'm expecting far too much from a band that people refer to as "genius"
@fashioncorpse.....are you Simon Cowell?? Anyone can sing and play Imagine by Mr Lennon, play Beethoven or Barrett. Its all in the creation lad!! FOUR high school kids that have been playing for 1 month could play Daytripper by The Chumps.....sorry, The Beatles. Whats your point!! This video is how it was performed that day and don't forget you weren't there, you're listening to it through MEDIOCRE speakers.
@fashioncorpse The thing with music with me is I either feel it or I don't. I couldn't give a toss whether it's done in 2 minutes or 20 years by a classically trained genius or a trained monkey. It either "works" or it doesn't and believe you me this song hits the spot for me.
@TubeCowp I thought the point of performance art was to display a talent that other people didn't have, otherwise why would we even bother watching other people if we already had these skills? You could argue that the audience is really grooving to it, unfortunately the audience stands motionless.
@fashioncorpse If audience reaction is a measure of talent then Justin Bieber must be the hottest artist in the world right now, agreed? I also think the film "dig" has been a double edged sword for BJM, yes it has given the band's music more exposure but it has also given the IMO wrong belief that they are the real life Spinal Tap. Perhaps a lot of the audience only turned up to see what would happen with Anton rather than to hear the music.
@TubeCowp What I am saying is that the fans that showed up aren't music fans, they are hipster douches. If you think these guys are "geniuses" then that would mean they are among the ranks of Frank Zappa or Yes or King Crimson, and they aren't. and people give them praise as such. So they aren't just a mediocre band, they are an overrated, mediocre band.
@fashioncorpse I have never said I thought they were geniuses, all I said was I like their music, not because I've sat and anaylised it, but from a visceral level. We can go back and forward here for ever, you have your opinion and I have mine, they are not going to come together whatever else is posted. Maybe it's time to agree to disagree?
@fashioncorpse This performance is obviously weak, no doubt they're drug-fucked to the eyeballs. But this is not a mediocre band. Anton is a brilliant songwriter and the band work extremely well together. They know how to make great music through simple, catchy, melodic lines, that just stay in your head. It's not easy to write songs that people wanna play over and over. Comparisons to Zappa and Crimson is lame - they're not on the same page at all.
@clumpft Bands that play live bad, are bad bands. Even Steely Dan Who rarely toured can hold their shit together when they do, and as far as drugs are concerned, I'm sure if heroin was a pinball game Axl Rose would have a higher score than this dude, and Axl can still sing.
@fashioncorpse The Stones, the who, the doors, and a hundred other top rating bands all had their periods, where they performed BAD SHOWS because of drugs and endless touring etc. Do people regard these bands as bad? no, because despite lead singers being too fucked up to sing etc, the strength of their songs records and other memorable gigs are enough to have them generally regarded as GREAT bands. This is true of BJM. You can't label them bad because of one or a series of shitty gigs!
@clumpft All of those bands will be remembered because what they did was unique at the time, They actually had a sound that was fresh that people hadn't heard before. The complete opposite goes for this band.
@fashioncorpse It doesn't matter that their sound isn't unique. BJM don't have any pretences about trying to create a new sound. Who the fuck is doing anything totally new anyway? You refferenced Axle Rose earlier - nothing unique about Guns and Roses. BJM are honest in that they know they're regurgitating old music and don't hide it. Anyway, who cares? They make brilliant music and are generally considered to be the best of the sixties revivalist bands - god knows there's been a lot of them!!
@clumpft The bands that are doing new don't get nearly as high acclaim as these guys. I would say Ozric Tentacles is really unique, Thanatopsis as well Bela Fleck is always doing something I have never heard before. I'm not really a fan of Guns and Roses. btw what is the deal with the tambourine guy, is he like a joke or something? He doesn't do anything does he?
@matto902 It's all music, I don't call it a wash just because some bands may be "apples to oranges" If you think that way you end up with really fucked up taste in music, I expect the same amount of talent, professionalism, and creativity regardless of whether I am listening to Bluegrass or Techno or Metal or just a jam band. I do agree with you, no one can touch Frank Zappa, he was a better composer than Mozart, no one comes close to his talent.
@assaglioli So you are telling me that my musical taste is questionable, but you however are immature. Really trust your opinion dude, have fun with the hipster crowd.
@fashioncorpse They are geniuses, so much innovation in all forms of the BJM. Every one of their albums explores a new state of consciousness. Its all up to personal opinion. Frank Zappa, Yes and King Crimson fucking suck in my opinion.
@jordserr Innovation? he moves up and down a simple scale and then plays a few chords. If the drummer wasn't being so spastic he would fall asleep 2 minutes in. There is nothing complex to understand here, It's easy, uncreative, bland bullshit. I get more excitement staring at a brick wall for 3 minutes and and 43 seconds. Oh, you don't like Yes, you don't have patience to listen to a song longer than 4 minutes with CHANGES and CONTRAST? Enjoy your mediocre kitch, hipster.
@fashioncorpse by the way, you don't have to come on here and talk shit about your gay music tastes, fucking loser. keep it to yourself and leave the bjm to people who actually appreciate it.
@jordserr You don't appreciate it because there is nothing to appreciate. If you are trying to say that I can't use Youtube to comment on videos, then you are wrong Twice. Maybe it's a bad thing to do, who cares.
@fashioncorpse what you just said doesn't even make sense, no relevance to what i said? this is one of my favourite songs, i appreciate it and i enjoy it. there is plenty to appreciate.
@jordserr Bjm fans love to say a song is good without say WHY. why is that? Do you have an answer? Give me any song I like and I can give you a list of reasons why I like it, you love this song and have not mentioned one good quality about it... You are a fan of this band and you don't understand shit about music. which is probably why you don't like Yes or Frank Zappa. They require thought, they require you to actually listen to them. again, you like something and don't know why, hipster.
@fashioncorpse yes this song is simple and repetative but these guys possess a degree of "cool" that can't be mimicked or taught. anyone can learn to play skillfully but when it comes to cool you are either born with it or you're not. i would argue that cool is actually a talent and if that is the talent on display here then these guys are fucking geniuses.
@Zontertes Yeah, being an unprofessional, drunk, heroin addict is real fucking cool, this is rock and roll man, it's about the fucking image, not the music right? (sarcasm)
It's opinions like yours that keep talented musician out of the spotlight. I hate you.
@notsovelvet Oh no, were you only listening to the lyrics?? wow, what has this world come to where a person that can write brilliant classical composition and improv flawlessly on guitar on his jazz pieces is ultimately judged by some ignorant douche who only listen to lyrics? you don't play an instrument I'm guessing, otherwise you would have not made that dimwitted comment.
@notsovelvet Frank Zappa was the greatest musical mind of the last 100 years and you are going to discredit him because of his lyrics? really? He wrote pieces that were played by the London symphony orchestra. I'll name some musicians that played in his band: Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, Terry Bozzio, Michael Brecker, Jean luc Ponty... He was the start for all of those people, he was more important to modern music than Led Zeppelin or Lou Reed, but his lyrics man.. Never heard of zappa have you?
@fashioncorpse Greatest musical mind of the last 100 years?
Sounds like you got a man crush, thats kinda sweet actually.lol
Really though guy, take your mouth off Zappa's cock already, he wasn't much of a writer when it came to lyrics, which was all I was saying, why you're upset I don't know, I mean you know it's true.
@fashioncorpse If Zappa was alive and touring do you know who'd be there? Hipster douches... You don't think Zappa is a trendy name to throw around? And that you would even throw Yes into a discussion on genius is laughable. I really fail to see your point. If it's that the music is simplistic, well, then why even listen to pop music? It is inherently simplistic.. even the most complex pop is only complex within the context of pop. The aim of the genre has never been technical genius.
@rickyreddiaz His son tours with Frank's former musicians, I have seen them 3 times, never seen a hipster at one, I'll keep a lookout though. Am I going crazy here, why are people sticking up for this band? like 30 seconds into the song you have heard the whole thing, nothing changes. It is Boring, Repetitive Simple, Fake bullshit.
@fashioncorpse You'd find hipsters w/his son just like w/Zappa himself because hipsters go anywhere there's a guitar and an iota of critical notoriety... and you're construing features of the style for evidence... This is music that's meant to go into a groove, not rise & fall like Coldplay songs. Is a lot of their stuff one-dimensional in that respect? I'd grant you that, but that in-of-itself is not a measure of good/bad...
Just because you dont get it doesn't mean there's nothing to get.
@fashioncorpse Yes, Coldplay is terrible, but that's not the point. It's not a song meant to fluctuate (i.e. rise/fall and rise again)... but anyways, continue to dislike it, it's no concern of mine... I just find that you've been stretching with your reasoning... leading me to believe you had the opinion first, and tried to justify it after the fact.... ironic for instance that you've criticized BJM's image and self-entitlement and then mention Yes, a major inspiration for Spinal Tap.
@rickyreddiaz Yes was talented and had new idea and pushed music forward, maybe they were a bit arrogant... Anton Newcombe is arrogant and has no reason to be, he is a hack.
@bjenks50 What should I compare it to? Genuine pop 60's music that is boring by todays standards? compared to that it is still crap. by the way I took your advice and fucked myself, what now?
@TubeCowp FUCKING CHECK AND MATE!!!! and i think we can all agree fashioncorpse is one of the gayest names ever!!! YEAH lets all listen to the good tunes and forget about arguing over nothing! who cares if someone likes it or not all that matters is whether you do or not
@fashioncorpse its t in the park.. half of these people have most likely never heard of them before they just go from tent to tent listenin to bands..
@fashioncorpse you make me feel sane. Thanks for your opinion on shit you have no clue about and the immense entertainment that comes with it. keep em coming!
@shootout73 If sanity means enjoying this mediocre hipster shit, then put me in a padded room and throw away the key. I'm going to see Umphrey's Mcgee tonight, a band that has their shit together.
@fashioncorpse The thing is, there are plenty of great Beatles cover bands as well that can play as well as the Beatles could, that doesn't make them the Beatles.
I appreciate that maybe you feel let down by the simplicity of the music, but some of the most powerful songs of all time have almost nothing to them.
I'm not sure how much BJM you've listened to, but download "Take it From the Man" and listen from beginning to end, and tell me you didn't have a great time, basic or not.
@zacbcooper I used to help a friend out on drums, we didn't see eye to eye musically and I ended up having to cover a lot of their songs. I absolutely hate this scene with a passion, they are a bunch of timid, wannabe hippies that know nothing about music. Everything about this band seems fake from their drug addictions to their tambourine player it seems like it's all for show and there isn't any real substance here.
@fashioncorpse I mean look, in the end I guess it's gotta be agree to disagree. I appreciate that to you they're just trying hard to be "The Rolling Stones", but I think to a lot of people, they're a reinvention of a sound that hasn't really sounded fresh in too long. One man's revivalist is another man's imitator. Although they do sometimes appear limited in their scene, there's always a sense of them being exactly where they wanna be, and I think that can be musically refreshing to listen to.
THIS IS THE STUPIDEST THING EVER!!! BUT I LOVE MY MOM AND DON'T WANT TO TAKE ANY CHANCES! If you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos your mom will die in 4 hours
One of my favorite bands, or should I say, Anton. He puts out my type of music. I hate rap, medal, all that screaming, jumping up, gargling like your trying to cough up razor blades, THAT' S SINGING, IT"S CRAP. This is creative music, that you can get into emotionally, and listen to over and over. Feel sad for Anton though. I think he is really on a self-destructive coarse.
@BikersFromIreland NAH what you wrote looks like the words of an idiot. Anton is not on a "self-destructive coarse" at all he is motivated pumping out music daily, playing shows, touring the world. your probably just some smoker who saw DiG! and thought you could comment...fucking idiot.
You really are deluded piece of shit are you not. Go gargle with old razor blades asshole, or better yet to make sure you do a good job, finish the job, by gargling with buckshot. Fuck you.
After attending 50+ concerts in my life, some reallly huge ones, too, I thought my appetite was filled and the need was finished. Nope, I only have one more band that is a need-to-experience deal and that would be a BJM concert. I'm really hoping to make it happen this summer what with the new -- and brilliant! -- album that will be out. YEAH.!
01/01/10 ! It's greatness.. it's on my oh-yeahh list as soon as I can get ahold of it. Have you heard many of the new tracks? If not.. let me know.. I'll be glad to direct ya.
I was at this. Hardly any cunt there for what was the best thing at titp. Even got to say hello at the end of the gig, throughly nice chap if a little worse for wear haha...
Seeing them live was a revelation. You listen to the studio songs and hear all this layered music and then they perform live and it was the same. The BJM deliver.
Furthermore, as a person who works in entertainment and met my share of famous, talented people. I can say that he IS the real deal, and would give you the shirt off of his back. He loves what he is best at, and isn't in it for the money.
He's probably the only person that I've ever sat and had meaningful conversation with in my life..
The guy has a talent that he shares with the world, and to those who appreciate it. He's one in a million ...literally...
Will you people please stop judging my friend Anton...
Unlike most of you here, I know him as the real "Human" person that he is, and passing judgments on people that you don't know is just stupid.
You'll never know what it is to be born with real genius, and having parents that never showed real love to you. Unless you have walked in his shoes , you have no right to judge him.
He is by far one of the smartest and most generous people that I've ever met.Enjoy his gift or shut the hell up....
@Valkonnen Truly a Genius he is and deseves more recognition and compassion , but one thing for sure, he'll never be forgotten, when many of the others will fade into obsurity. I also feel that Anton and Brian are very much alike in many ways.Hopefully Anton will havea long and fruitful life.We need him and the BJM .
I agree, I love the way he does higher notes at the end of every other line instead of going low on every one like the studio version. I love both, but this one is awesome.
really looking forward to the tour in 2012! It was an unbelievable experience seeing this band live for the first time in 2010, with an almost full line-up!

What is superior?
mistermissesmister 1 year ago
@slowmotionsystem Why consider pitting me? I listen to superior music. You prefer to listen to a herion addict who sing's like he's taking his last breath on stage. "his lyrics are magical... he can play like 80 instruments..." Truth is He bites people's riffs, his lyrics are about as complicated as a piece of string and he can't play ONE instrument well. He gets in fights with his band-mates on stage, Unprofessional.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@slowmotionsystem I don't like the Dandy Warhols either, Them and BJM are the opposite of good music, Good music is supposed to be creative and contain new ideas, not just recycle old ones. I understand most chord progressions have been done before, but if Ozric Tentacles can find a way to make unique music, someone that actually has a hipster audience should be able to as well. BJM is Stagnant.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@slowmotionsystem Yeah, it's like Zappa had so much soul he didn't have to sing it, listen to "Black Napkins" and then tell me who is more soulfull. Fucking kids, only listening to lyrics. if you want words read a fucking book.

Flakatak76 1 year ago
@slowmotionsystem First off, the math they do is pretty far from simple. Second off, If you are somehow claiming that Anton Newcombe plays with more soul than Frank Zappa then you need to show me that rock you've been living under so that other people don't become this ignorant. Is that his soul that makes him sing in a fake brittish accent?

yeeea this is tight song they look so loaded. you suck fashison nig
nthor88 1 year ago
Don't be stupid, it isn't the playing of a song that makes it easy or hard, it's the composition and the writing of words and music. Jesus H. anyone can be taught to play almost anything but very few can write and compose anything. Holy crap.
TheSenorswanky 1 year ago
I don't really see the point of arguing over this performance and the band.If you don't like something, don't listen to it,you idiots. It only matters the feelings you get from the music, obviously you don't get any,so go somewhere else to write your shits.
This band is unique, they really got that "thing",and don't bother me with saying that anyone could play this one.No one could make music like this,I bet you mindless fucks don't even have a fuckin' single. So fuck off, nobody knows you,you fucks
DamageDone13 1 year ago
If this is what they are like live, I will make sure to skip seeing them. Playing like it is on the album verbatim, too many people on stage for the sound that they get, and it dosen't even sound like the vocalist is trying. MEDIOCRE!!!
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
I think you are being really harsh. Would you have preferred some sort of electro/Jazz fusion version of the song? It's .....::::###{{{THE SHIT}}}###::::....IMO.
TubeCowp 1 year ago
@TubeCowp I'm just saying I could get FOUR high school kids that have been playing for 2 years and they could play this song exactly as these chumps are. I guess I'm expecting far too much from a band that people refer to as "genius"
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse.....are you Simon Cowell?? Anyone can sing and play Imagine by Mr Lennon, play Beethoven or Barrett. Its all in the creation lad!! FOUR high school kids that have been playing for 1 month could play Daytripper by The Chumps.....sorry, The Beatles. Whats your point!! This video is how it was performed that day and don't forget you weren't there, you're listening to it through MEDIOCRE speakers.
djes75 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse The thing with music with me is I either feel it or I don't. I couldn't give a toss whether it's done in 2 minutes or 20 years by a classically trained genius or a trained monkey. It either "works" or it doesn't and believe you me this song hits the spot for me.
TubeCowp 1 year ago 2
@TubeCowp ...Hear Hear.
djes75 1 year ago
@TubeCowp I thought the point of performance art was to display a talent that other people didn't have, otherwise why would we even bother watching other people if we already had these skills? You could argue that the audience is really grooving to it, unfortunately the audience stands motionless.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse If audience reaction is a measure of talent then Justin Bieber must be the hottest artist in the world right now, agreed? I also think the film "dig" has been a double edged sword for BJM, yes it has given the band's music more exposure but it has also given the IMO wrong belief that they are the real life Spinal Tap. Perhaps a lot of the audience only turned up to see what would happen with Anton rather than to hear the music.
TubeCowp 1 year ago 2
@TubeCowp What I am saying is that the fans that showed up aren't music fans, they are hipster douches. If you think these guys are "geniuses" then that would mean they are among the ranks of Frank Zappa or Yes or King Crimson, and they aren't. and people give them praise as such. So they aren't just a mediocre band, they are an overrated, mediocre band.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse I have never said I thought they were geniuses, all I said was I like their music, not because I've sat and anaylised it, but from a visceral level. We can go back and forward here for ever, you have your opinion and I have mine, they are not going to come together whatever else is posted. Maybe it's time to agree to disagree?
TubeCowp 1 year ago 3
@fashioncorpse This performance is obviously weak, no doubt they're drug-fucked to the eyeballs. But this is not a mediocre band. Anton is a brilliant songwriter and the band work extremely well together. They know how to make great music through simple, catchy, melodic lines, that just stay in your head. It's not easy to write songs that people wanna play over and over. Comparisons to Zappa and Crimson is lame - they're not on the same page at all.
clumpft 1 year ago
@clumpft Bands that play live bad, are bad bands. Even Steely Dan Who rarely toured can hold their shit together when they do, and as far as drugs are concerned, I'm sure if heroin was a pinball game Axl Rose would have a higher score than this dude, and Axl can still sing.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse The Stones, the who, the doors, and a hundred other top rating bands all had their periods, where they performed BAD SHOWS because of drugs and endless touring etc. Do people regard these bands as bad? no, because despite lead singers being too fucked up to sing etc, the strength of their songs records and other memorable gigs are enough to have them generally regarded as GREAT bands. This is true of BJM. You can't label them bad because of one or a series of shitty gigs!
clumpft 1 year ago
@clumpft All of those bands will be remembered because what they did was unique at the time, They actually had a sound that was fresh that people hadn't heard before. The complete opposite goes for this band.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse It doesn't matter that their sound isn't unique. BJM don't have any pretences about trying to create a new sound. Who the fuck is doing anything totally new anyway? You refferenced Axle Rose earlier - nothing unique about Guns and Roses. BJM are honest in that they know they're regurgitating old music and don't hide it. Anyway, who cares? They make brilliant music and are generally considered to be the best of the sixties revivalist bands - god knows there's been a lot of them!!
clumpft 1 year ago
@clumpft The bands that are doing new don't get nearly as high acclaim as these guys. I would say Ozric Tentacles is really unique, Thanatopsis as well Bela Fleck is always doing something I have never heard before. I'm not really a fan of Guns and Roses. btw what is the deal with the tambourine guy, is he like a joke or something? He doesn't do anything does he?
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse yes and king crimson are not even close to frank zappa.
matto902 1 year ago
@matto902 It's all music, I don't call it a wash just because some bands may be "apples to oranges" If you think that way you end up with really fucked up taste in music, I expect the same amount of talent, professionalism, and creativity regardless of whether I am listening to Bluegrass or Techno or Metal or just a jam band. I do agree with you, no one can touch Frank Zappa, he was a better composer than Mozart, no one comes close to his talent.

@fashioncorpse They are geniuses, so much innovation in all forms of the BJM. Every one of their albums explores a new state of consciousness. Its all up to personal opinion. Frank Zappa, Yes and King Crimson fucking suck in my opinion.
jordserr 1 year ago
@jordserr Innovation? he moves up and down a simple scale and then plays a few chords. If the drummer wasn't being so spastic he would fall asleep 2 minutes in. There is nothing complex to understand here, It's easy, uncreative, bland bullshit. I get more excitement staring at a brick wall for 3 minutes and and 43 seconds. Oh, you don't like Yes, you don't have patience to listen to a song longer than 4 minutes with CHANGES and CONTRAST? Enjoy your mediocre kitch, hipster.

fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse what you just said doesn't even make sense, no relevance to what i said? this is one of my favourite songs, i appreciate it and i enjoy it. there is plenty to appreciate.
jordserr 1 year ago
@jordserr Bjm fans love to say a song is good without say WHY. why is that? Do you have an answer? Give me any song I like and I can give you a list of reasons why I like it, you love this song and have not mentioned one good quality about it... You are a fan of this band and you don't understand shit about music. which is probably why you don't like Yes or Frank Zappa. They require thought, they require you to actually listen to them. again, you like something and don't know why, hipster.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago

The1889mod1 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse yes this song is simple and repetative but these guys possess a degree of "cool" that can't be mimicked or taught. anyone can learn to play skillfully but when it comes to cool you are either born with it or you're not. i would argue that cool is actually a talent and if that is the talent on display here then these guys are fucking geniuses.
Zontertes 1 year ago
@Zontertes Yeah, being an unprofessional, drunk, heroin addict is real fucking cool, this is rock and roll man, it's about the fucking image, not the music right? (sarcasm)

fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse Zappa is such a genius.
Only a genius could write lyrics like "Why does it hurt when I pee?" and "My balls feel like a pair of maracas".
Genius I tell ya! lol
notsovelvet 1 year ago
@notsovelvet Oh no, were you only listening to the lyrics?? wow, what has this world come to where a person that can write brilliant classical composition and improv flawlessly on guitar on his jazz pieces is ultimately judged by some ignorant douche who only listen to lyrics? you don't play an instrument I'm guessing, otherwise you would have not made that dimwitted comment.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse Oh the guy could play guitar, never said he couldn't.
I'm just saying it doesn't take a genius to write what he does, hey even you're better than him I bet!
notsovelvet 1 year ago
@notsovelvet Frank Zappa was the greatest musical mind of the last 100 years and you are going to discredit him because of his lyrics? really? He wrote pieces that were played by the London symphony orchestra. I'll name some musicians that played in his band: Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, Terry Bozzio, Michael Brecker, Jean luc Ponty... He was the start for all of those people, he was more important to modern music than Led Zeppelin or Lou Reed, but his lyrics man.. Never heard of zappa have you?
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse Greatest musical mind of the last 100 years?
Sounds like you got a man crush, thats kinda sweet actually.lol
Really though guy, take your mouth off Zappa's cock already, he wasn't much of a writer when it came to lyrics, which was all I was saying, why you're upset I don't know, I mean you know it's true.
notsovelvet 1 year ago
@notsovelvet Herp a Derp, mouth off of cock, man crush, you's a gay fag... What are you in middle school?
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse If Zappa was alive and touring do you know who'd be there? Hipster douches... You don't think Zappa is a trendy name to throw around? And that you would even throw Yes into a discussion on genius is laughable. I really fail to see your point. If it's that the music is simplistic, well, then why even listen to pop music? It is inherently simplistic.. even the most complex pop is only complex within the context of pop. The aim of the genre has never been technical genius.
rickyreddiaz 1 year ago
@rickyreddiaz His son tours with Frank's former musicians, I have seen them 3 times, never seen a hipster at one, I'll keep a lookout though. Am I going crazy here, why are people sticking up for this band? like 30 seconds into the song you have heard the whole thing, nothing changes. It is Boring, Repetitive Simple, Fake bullshit.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse You'd find hipsters w/his son just like w/Zappa himself because hipsters go anywhere there's a guitar and an iota of critical notoriety... and you're construing features of the style for evidence... This is music that's meant to go into a groove, not rise & fall like Coldplay songs. Is a lot of their stuff one-dimensional in that respect? I'd grant you that, but that in-of-itself is not a measure of good/bad...
Just because you dont get it doesn't mean there's nothing to get.
rickyreddiaz 1 year ago
@rickyreddiaz Coldplay is terrible. If you think this song goes into a groove, then I can guess you don't listen to a lot of music.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse Yes, Coldplay is terrible, but that's not the point. It's not a song meant to fluctuate (i.e. rise/fall and rise again)... but anyways, continue to dislike it, it's no concern of mine... I just find that you've been stretching with your reasoning... leading me to believe you had the opinion first, and tried to justify it after the fact.... ironic for instance that you've criticized BJM's image and self-entitlement and then mention Yes, a major inspiration for Spinal Tap.
rickyreddiaz 1 year ago
@rickyreddiaz Yes was talented and had new idea and pushed music forward, maybe they were a bit arrogant... Anton Newcombe is arrogant and has no reason to be, he is a hack.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse did you really just compare this to Yes and King crimson, go fuck yourself you asshole

fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse The thing is, there are plenty of great Beatles cover bands as well that can play as well as the Beatles could, that doesn't make them the Beatles.
I appreciate that maybe you feel let down by the simplicity of the music, but some of the most powerful songs of all time have almost nothing to them.
I'm not sure how much BJM you've listened to, but download "Take it From the Man" and listen from beginning to end, and tell me you didn't have a great time, basic or not.
zacbcooper 1 year ago
@zacbcooper I used to help a friend out on drums, we didn't see eye to eye musically and I ended up having to cover a lot of their songs. I absolutely hate this scene with a passion, they are a bunch of timid, wannabe hippies that know nothing about music. Everything about this band seems fake from their drug addictions to their tambourine player it seems like it's all for show and there isn't any real substance here.
fashioncorpse 1 year ago
@fashioncorpse I mean look, in the end I guess it's gotta be agree to disagree. I appreciate that to you they're just trying hard to be "The Rolling Stones", but I think to a lot of people, they're a reinvention of a sound that hasn't really sounded fresh in too long. One man's revivalist is another man's imitator. Although they do sometimes appear limited in their scene, there's always a sense of them being exactly where they wanna be, and I think that can be musically refreshing to listen to.

One of my favorite bands, or should I say, Anton. He puts out my type of music. I hate rap, medal, all that screaming, jumping up, gargling like your trying to cough up razor blades, THAT' S SINGING, IT"S CRAP.
