Great video Victoria. It would also be really useful if you made a video on how to upload a Wordpress site from your local server to a web host? Any chance?
Holy crap! This video is perfect!! It covered everything that anyone should need barring some unique problem! This helped me immensely and I thank you!
hi can you show me how to install several local sites on MAMP. Do I create a new database for each wordpress site or is there a better way to do it? thanks
liked your tutorial by the way. clear even though now outdated with recent wordpress updates
Hi Toria, awesome tut, very clear & easy to listen to. I noticed on another post you were planning on uploading more wp tuts. Is this happening soon as I can’t wait to learn more.
Hi Victoria. Fantastic video. Very informative indeed. So much so that I am now finally dipping my tow into the world of blogging. I have only one question: how do I view my blog online. I know this video deals with how to operate locally, but how then do I launch the content online? Sorry about the question: totally new to all this.
@TheWebsonic Hey Rob, thanks for the comment. I've created a whole series of wordpress tutorials, which I'm going to upload shortly. If there is anything specific you would like me to cover, just let me know and I'll create a tutorial for that. Love and Blessings, Toria
@creativetoria Hi Toria, sorry for the delay! Hope your well. I've been working on my local site the last month and it's just about ready to go live. It's great to hear you have more Wordpress vids on the way, looking forward to them! I was hoping you might have a tut on moving the site developed in MAMP, onto a live server/host. Could link really nice with this vid as well.
@TheWebsonic Thanks, yes, i'll upload that today. I have a site I was working on so I can use it as an example. :-) I'll message you when it goes live.
hi great tutorial thanks so much! is there any chance you could do a tutorial on how to get the blog running live? ( from a local blog getting it moved to an actual url site). i have had my previous blog ruined by following faulty tutorials and do not fully understand the guide on the wordpress webpage.
I would first like to thank U for posting a very useful video...
I do have a small problem, I have followed your step, but I keep getting this:
Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down. I'm using WP 3.0
Victoria, what a great tutorial! Thank you so much! I do have one question. I set this up as per your instructions and got the Wordpress login page. I logged in and that took me to my dashboard. All good. Question is, now that I'm returning to work on the files again, I type localhost:8888 in the address field of my browser and it takes me directly to my site files, not to the login page, so I no longer seem to have access to the dashboard. How do I access the dashboard?

Thank you! I've watched about a dozen tutorials on YouTube on this subject, and I failed the install every time. However, thanks to you I'm now installed!
you are a godsend. i have followed about 6 different web tutorials to try and learn how to do this correctly, and every single time something went wrong and it didn't work, but your video did!
thank you so so so much for uploading this tutorial. :)
After taking the steps you just described, can you set up a live website (blog via Wordpress using MAMP as described here) after purchasing a domain name from GoDaddy? (Would that be a "hosting account that has mySQL support and PHP" as you noted in your response below?)
@inhaleddreams Hi, this video was to create a testing server. If you want to have wordpress on a live website you need a hosting account that has mySQL support and PHP. Send me a private message and we can skype if you need any help setting it up. :-)
