How's the development going? Looking forward to seeing more DJ apps embrace USB Class Compliant MIDI controllers! Especially the more professional controllers like Vestax Spin.
@Scratchometry, yes that's a MIDI controller plugged in!
@Nervejunktion, the next version of Quixpin will have all the controls on the same screen. No need to switch anymore.
Another thing to note that is not in the video, Quixpin is (and has always been) completely multitouch. You're able to control the wave form directly on the screen by touching it, pinching it, swiping it, etc.
We're working really hard on it. Hopefully we'll get another video up soon!
I think this app is pretty cool but honestly some of the new features being implemented seem like this toy is trying to compete with actual dj equipment.
When a kid goes out and buys all that additional usb crap and realizes he could have just bought real turntables / cdj's ...thats when the real DISAPPOINTMENT will roll in.
I mean sure those small sleek silver futuristic looking decks look the way you would want....as for performance the technology is not there yet.
@Nervejunktion Thanks for the feedback. The device in the video is the Vestax Spin, typically used with desktop software like Traktor, VirtualDJ, etc. Any MIDI based controller that users already have should work. The connector is the iPad Camera Connection Kit, which has many uses. Users don't have to purchase anything specialized to this one app. Users also don't need any of the hardware at all, they can just use the touch screen of their iOS device. And the app price is very reasonable!
@Nervejunktion unfortunately most people who scratch aren't able to stay at home all day where their tables are. Many people want more mobile solutions to ADD TO their current set-up. This is the role the that ipad and many midi controllers play. They aren't meant to replace the turntable. However, the truth is that the touch nature of the ipad can and will do a lot to explain mixing and scratching techniques that would have otherwise over-whelmed many'a newb.

@Quixonic
Thanks for the reply.....despite my pessimistic opinion of the additional gear itself that the quixpin will support
I would just as strongly say that Quixpin is among the best pocket dj app out there.
One last thing: Being able to swipe your finger left or right to move between the mixer and the track
would be cool.
cheers
