@Mr177andy Very few operas are sung in the english language. In this instance Ave Maria is sung in latin that is why you don't understand it. I have a similar problem with modern pop singers who sing only the vowels without the benefit of consonants to make them understandable, and I am english. But as it seems to be in vogue for modern "yoof" to speak with the glottal stop rather than clear, not posh, diction that consonants allow, I can't understand what they say either.
@mike04535 Well, sir. Maybe I´m wrong because I just listened the first seconds but if this is The Ave Maria by Schubbert, it is not an aria, consequently it is not from any opera by Schubbert. He wrote operas, of course, but this case is a "lied", an artistic song that the catholic church became a symbol for one of their "prays". It´s easy to mix up some versions of the Ave María because there are a lot in operas (right now Othelo comes to my mind). Please tell me if I´m wrong. :)
@Maryjoends You are perfectly correct. It is the Gunod?Bach version not the Schubert. You are right it is not an aria in operatic terms. It is a piece of Roman Catholic Church music essentially. Personally I much prefer the Schubert Ave Maria and I think that Faryl could give a stunning performance of it, especially as she is now 16 and has a much stronger, wider vocal range following continuing tuition from top classical singing teachers. She is a talent to watch.
@mike04535 Yes, you are right. That´s why I made the mistake... I was listening carefully and this was a "personal version" of the Ave María. It´s okay for this kind of performances, but as you say, this girl can do it more complex and difficult as she is very young... I hope she doesn´t give up. Thanks for the explanation :)
@mike04535 As for the Latin... well, I suppose she was trying to say the final words before the amen. But it isn´t understandable at all:
"Sancta Maria mater Dei,ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen." But I suspect she has made a "free interpretation" of Latin. The only thing I can understand is Salve or Ave María, Santa María and amen. Enough to satisfy British people´s ears I suppose. :)
I would love to see Faryl and the latest singer from the US Talent show get together for a duet. They are both stunning singers. For Jackie Evancho's rendition of this search YouTube for "Jackie Evancho AGT Final - Ave Maria" .... she is ten years old!!!
Both are breathtaking ..... what a treat is in store for the next 50 years .... mindboggling :)
I so agree,,when i first heard her voice i was in awe, it sucked for her because the previous year a singer won singing opera, hope she does something soon, i want to buy her music
@cptbluntboy Having visited your channel and seeing that you are 21 and judging from the content of your viewing and music videos, I would think that you haven't heard many versions, if any. This was a 12 year old giving an audition not a performance. Facing a sometimes hostile audience and an unforgiving judging panel who thus far had had a bad day. As far as I know she was the only auditionee not to be buzzed, and she got three yes votes. Try it yourself and see how you get on.
i always almost cry when i hear her singing, its like an angel singing....
