your sound keeps cutting out and i don't know if that's just because it silences for voice activation or what but i don't know if there's stuff i'm missing because of the sound
@wakeangel78 You are not missing out on anything. There is some slow motion so there is no sound. You are not missing out on anything. I do have some better quality tutorials for the granny square.
omg!i just did my fist granny square.yipeee!!i like this video better than the other one u did.the other one i couuldmt understand.i think it was beacuse u went to fast and i couldnt keep up.
@clubpenguinrocksism I have been given a lot of time to make extended videos since I did my first videos. I take full advantage of my extended minutes.
This isn't your typical granny square. I don't do any rows of sc's. It's all dc's in groups of 3. I like this pattern, but it's not the original granny technique I was looking for.
This is the solid granny square. I have several patterns posted for a variety of granny squares. I will send you the link for the traditional granny square.
the only part that i wasn't able to follow was when u were on the second row of the square right before you do the single crochet. i end up with an extra circle..where do i put the final two dc so it looks like your square?
granny square demonstration on youtube! I did it!!! yayayayya thank you!! Tried many other videos- yours was the only one that was easily understood by an amateur crocheter!
@LiteraryJo lol, I love to crochet, but it was a disaster for me trying to knit. I knew someone who went to school with me that knitted, and she couldn't crochet! While I got impatient and frustrated over trying to knit, she did the same with trying to crochet. I guess by doing one of the other, your hands get too used to it and it makes trying the other much more difficult.
A couple of months. I referred back to my copy of 'Happy Hooker' and fgured out where I was going wrong, and once I figured that out your tutorial made perfect sense. Thanks. :)
ok well i have one question! when u say to double crochet.. to me it looks like ur putting the hook through the middle of the circle.. but when i did that it didnt turn out right. so am i supposed to be putting the hook through a stitch??
Appreciated !!! Well iv completed the Solid Granny Square Crochet...i completed 16rows...It isnt perfect, coz its my First Crochet, thanks to YOU..Wil send u the pic very soon.
ThankQ so much for dis video. You hv really explained step by step compared to other videos.I am a beginner and found ur video too gud to start with.Especially da explanation of the Double Crochet in the corners ( the 2 Double crochets have to be inserted into the CHAIN STITCH )that was very helpful for me as i was goin wrong in the corners.
(Well i wud also want to suggest if u could improve the lighting while video shooting coz many times the lights wer not on the crochet.)
You are welcome. I will invite you to look the current videos I have posted. The light and background have changed a lot. You can click on my main channel page to view the recent videos.
Im a bit confused. What you call DOUBLE CROCHET, I know (from books) to be called a TREBLE. Can anyone confirm which is correct. I thought DOUBLE CROCHET was pulling the yarn through 2 chains only. Thanks. Great videos, really helpful.
You are welcome. We call them double crochet in America. I am not familiar with what other countries call the same stitch. I am aware that it is different which can make an interpretation of a pattern somewhat confusing.
OMG! I've been struggling with this for YEARS! Thank you so much for your well explained video's! And thank you for the time and effort you spend on the video's. Just made my first granny square :D *So Happy*
Thank you so much for these videos. I've been a knitter for years but crochet has always frustrated me. Now I can actually crochet a granny square thanks to these videos. THANK YOU!
You are so wonderful! I bought a book in Wal-Mart a few years ago that included a Granny Square afghan but have always struggled with the abbreviated instructions! Your video is a huge help to me, thank you!
I just wanted to say thanks, I'm pretty new to crocheting. I have the basic stitches down, but I didn't want to single crochet an entire afghan, so this was a great help. Watching your videos gave me all the info I needed and I've been granny squaring for a few days now. I really apprecite your doing this!! :)
omg i have no clue how you do this! i can't crochet no matter what! I am a beginner and i want to make a purse, and i don't have the 1st clue on how to do this! Can you give me some advise, please?
Get started and practice. It may seem confusing but once you get started it is not hard at all. Practicing the stitches is my advice for a new beginner. If you don't want to do this square, you can try a circle or another square.
Absolutely fantastic! Thank you! I've been wondering for years how to do a granny stitch and your demonstration and instructions work out perfectly for me. It finally is illuminated and makes sense. Really, thank you for taking the time to do this.
I just want to say you are really good. I hope I am close to being as good as you. You are a good teacher to. I am so interested in things like this. I just taught myself how to knit in less then an hour. So now this is my next big thing. Thanks for posting these videos.
Do you think you could do another video where you show WHERE to do the double crochet? I'm a self taught knitter, so I continually get confused which stitches you are making the DC into.

that looks really nice...but when i try to do it...it doesnt stay flat like yours does...it seems to boe like im making the start of a hat or something...any ideas? :o\
God, this is therapeutic! Great job teaching. I think I almost have it figured out.. What is a good yard and ply to use for this?? Mine is two ply and seems to shred..
Thank you. What I use is 4-PLY worsted weight, acrylic, Red Heart. I will use Caron 4-Ply on occasion. It is nice and soft on my hands. You could run two strands of your 2-ply together. It will make it larger and stiffer.
i have no idea what you're doing. i guess i need to start wayyyy from the beginning. you make it look so easy :/
