seeing painting that I had only read about in art history classes..yet when there was someone to speak with...the conversations were terrific....yet I think with google, many of the answers could be found more easily now. ..I recall fondly visiting the national museum in Oslo, the guy at the desk noticed I was interested, fascinated by a painting of a wounded soldier, he came over and spoke with pride, about the work....he also gave me a post card of it free. He said I should learn more about it
Great, had a blast last night with this, although the navigation, zoom takes a little getting use to, the other thing that would really help is a discussion forum. I traveled Europe solo in my early 20's, visiting most major museums. being alone allowed for some great conversations with strangers about art, some time I would come across a work, and just be stunned, but there were many occasions when I lacked someone to share the experience...
Who would have thought that I could get closer to some works of art at home, rather than being there - you know because of glass protector, security, etc.
I don't have any artistic talents or any interests in art at all but even I am able to appreciate something like this because I know what a great tool this is. I took an art class in high school where I tried to draw but I failed. I took an art history course in college but I never had any interest in it. Art is part of the human experience and I want to know as much as I can about human history. Even if I never use this tool I am happy for all art enthusiasts who will be able to enjoy this now.
Nice :) Maybe western museums should then completely transcend into cyberspace, so that we can finally return all of the arts we have stolen from around the world. No more excuses.
Ok, I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean, whats the difference if it´s modern artists or classical painters? Are you talking about reproductions of modern artists as being a problem? I don't mean to pick at you but are you sure you meant PIRATE copying? :)
@SEThatered Who will "pirate copy" a van Gogh? Art fraud will still exist but I have never heard of pirate copying art work as being a problem. I'm all for this project though.
@donn333 Actually all "i product"s (Macbook, iphones & ipads) has "safari" as its default browser.so there is no offense why hez using safari instead of google......
would it be possible to add a discussion forum to objects?

What a waste, a natural history museum theme would be better for the human race then art.

grateful for stuff like this.
museums have a way of sterilizing and distancing the art from the viewer. which is ironic for the intimacy of art.

I hope such solutions will eliminate the need of pirate copy.
Because who would need to do a copy if you can access it online anyway.
