  • would it be possible to add a discussion forum to objects?

  • seeing painting that I had only read about in art history classes..yet when there was someone to speak with...the conversations were terrific....yet I think with google, many of the answers could be found more easily now. ..I recall fondly visiting the national museum in Oslo, the guy at the desk noticed I was interested, fascinated by a painting of a wounded soldier, he came over and spoke with pride, about the work....he also gave me a post card of it free. He said I should learn more about it

  • Great, had a blast last night with this, although the navigation, zoom takes a little getting use to, the other thing that would really help is a discussion forum. I traveled Europe solo in my early 20's, visiting most major museums. being alone allowed for some great conversations with strangers about art, some time I would come across a work, and just be stunned, but there were many occasions when I lacked someone to share the experience...

  • very nice. love to visit it in web. :0

  • what's your boss doing outside the kitchen man?

  • Genius - finally got to go to MoMA.

  • This is the first time that i have experience the content before Talk presented

  • 非常漂亮的作品

  • 非常漂亮的作品

  • I've been neglecting this in my subscriptions box because I thought it would be crap, but it's REALLY REALLY GOOD :-D

  • FANTASTIC!!

  • Who would have thought that I could get closer to some works of art at home, rather than being there - you know because of glass protector, security, etc.

  • Incredible - I am going to create a museum of my collection of moldy food in 5mb format.

  • could someone tell me what style and brand of jeans he is wearing? lol i love how the fit him!

  • Well Done!! I love google art project.

  • Well Done!!

  • What a waste, a natural history museum theme would be better for the human race then art.

  • @rccaulfield natural history museum is yet to come.

  • @hiiateursoul wow-do tell!

  • I don't have any artistic talents or any interests in art at all but even I am able to appreciate something like this because I know what a great tool this is. I took an art class in high school where I tried to draw but I failed. I took an art history course in college but I never had any interest in it. Art is part of the human experience and I want to know as much as I can about human history. Even if I never use this tool I am happy for all art enthusiasts who will be able to enjoy this now.

  • Nice :) Maybe western museums should then completely transcend into cyberspace, so that we can finally return all of the arts we have stolen from around the world. No more excuses.

  • grateful for stuff like this.

museums have a way of sterilizing and distancing the art from the viewer. which is ironic for the intimacy of art.

  • This is awesome; finally will get my own private collection!

  • TED should have let him speak for longer, it seemed fascinating.

  • Awesome .

  • Ok, I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean, whats the difference if it´s modern artists or classical painters? Are you talking about reproductions of modern artists as being a problem? I don't mean to pick at you but are you sure you meant PIRATE copying? :)

  • AMAZING!!!!!!

  • great applied learning I certainly will be creating my own Art museum

  • well... this is... nahhh... FUCKING AWESOME!

  • I am going to make a museum of hilarious comments i leave on youtube, like this one.

  • absolutely kool

  • Amazing! Fantastic & thank you for telling me about this opportunity.

  • The project is called "Google Art Project", and it is really awesome!

I recommend it for everyone, and I urge you all to both enjoy it yourselves and spread the word about this magnificent undertaking.

  • So, if no one is going to the museums, who is paying the bills?

  • @icantsleepsohereiam Who cares! Lets pirate art.

  • Where can I find this?

  • So meta.

  • this is awesome i've been seeing this for long now

  • I hope such solutions will eliminate the need of pirate copy.

Because who would need to do a copy if you can access it online anyway.

  • @SEThatered Who will "pirate copy" a van Gogh? Art fraud will still exist but I have never heard of pirate copying art work as being a problem. I'm all for this project though.

  • @Hopefulfilment

That is not what i meant.

I mean the artists of today, their artworks are in museums too.

  • Wow, I wonder if there are any history museums at that website.

  • simply wow..

  • @ceasefire066 what?!? is you point?

  • @gaiagale they can have full map of museums..

    just kidding

  • I think they should do a 3D model of the museum so it feels more like walking around instead of these weird zoom-tranportations :)

  • that guy from google is using safari lol.

  • @donn333 because he's on a macbook?

  • @donn333 yeah cause it comes with the macs by default

  • @donn333 chrome is still in beta, and that is not his mac, but Teds ;)

  • @donn333 it's an apple computer which is probably not his in the first place. just given to him for the presentation.

  • @donn333 Lol... someone is getting fired for pointing that out.

  • @donn333 Actually all "i product"s (Macbook, iphones & ipads) has "safari" as its default browser.so there is no offense why hez using safari instead of google......

  • raj :D

  • WOW...what an amazing idea!

But interestingly, he wasn't using Chrome to do the demo~isn't he coming from google? lol

  • @njupted

  • Wow, now i can stay home and sit my fat ass off even more!

  • I've been waiting all week for new topics on TED. Took long enough!
