you need to back up your saves with a usb device but trophies are saved on a server.

You need a flash stick bigger than 2GB to backup all data user info and all. External drives are the way to go. I'm gonna put a 1TB in my Ps3.

I swear to god i had 299 GB i couldnt believe it either. probably it was a fault of

Sony Europe , because when i downloaded all those movies i was always thinking after this download it could say no more space, so when i had about 100 movies i was like lets check my status and i saw that it said 197/299GB free i was like WHAT! haha

if its brand new the hard drive inside hasnt even been formatted yet. Just take it out, you can fiormat it n use it as an external hard drive or something if you have a case for it.

I have 40gb PS3 I upgraded it to 160gb but after that I noticed something wrong, my PS3 started to make noise, the cooling fan is so noisy, So I decide to change to 80gb hard disk but still the same, I returned his original 40gb hard drive and its ok no noise

I dont know what went wrong? but Im sure I followed all details of upgrading hard drive

Or maybe my 40gb PS3 is destined to his 40gb hard disk forever

yes that's why most ppl put there save files on an eternal hard drive (i think it's called that) and then put the new one in and then put there save files on the new hard drive

you can do that two ways:

1) backup the system onto a USB device

2) Your online account is saved to your ps3 not your hard drive so you can just re-download them for free of course.

WD25000BEVS is the drive model number. Any drive should work though. You have to format the drive that comes with a PS3 anyway.

you cant delete your profile off the PS3, its not on the hard drive. all you need to do is put your 80GB drive into an external case or soemthing like that and you'll still have everything on the drive. just connect ti to the usb on the front of the ps3 whenever
