  • i had this game...played for years, could never get passed 3rd level, wanted to put my fist through the screen bunches of times...

  • 2 poor people was born in the 90s

  • Wow, I'm glad I got to see this, I never figured out how to make it past the 1st level.

  • First level was tough. you could complete it by continually jumping where you begin, you kinda do a double jump and reach the moon

  • It seems i missed out on something really awesome.

  • The music alone made this game worthwhile

  • chapter 4 tune has been heard in many covers

  • I want this music on my iPod immediately.

  • I could make it to the 2nd level, but i'd always get wasted. Never made it past that. Thanks for these vids!

  • UNREAL, did I really just see that game solved with only 1 life lost? I don't recall EVER making it past the 1st level, amazing. Good job! This takes me way back, I remember the music, the lives lost bird and everything... fantastic.

  • Haha, I remember playing this on my friend's C64 back around 1988 and the celebration we had when I got past the first stage for the first and only time.

  • @ItsSully Same here, i was 8 in 1988 and the C64 was our best toy ever back then. I passed this first stage finally after trying 100 times and I totally lost my patience and never tried again when I had to start straight from the begginning after losing your lives. I never played it again after learning that lol

  • @ItsSully

haha! I could never get past the first stage either, and I'm not even sure if I would have been able to figure out what the fuck to do on that checker board "no go meter" stage.

  • hubbard ,galway, daglish - all truly superb musicians, how they managed to squeeze such sounds out of a simple little chip is beyond me.

  • Simple? by todays standers then yes, but back in the 80's the Sid chip was truly advanced and ahead of it's time.

  • You, sir, are a better man than I. I could never EVER figure out how to play this game. And I had a legit copy with manual back then!

  • Arrgh I hated this game, level one goes on forever and I can't beat it even plugging in a sega genesis controller after all these years later. Not only this game but Psi-5 Trading Company and Cliff hanger and what's up with the last level and ending, these guys were on meth. Its nice that we C64 long play so we can all kill are childhood demons and see these game's endings.

  • All those games made by people on meth, that was the best thing of the C64!

  • Glad to see I wasnt the only person stuck on level 1! Impossible game and great to see it beaten. THanks again!

  • Thats crazy!!! I only saw level 2 once!

  • After so many years.........thanks for this, for the ending......just impossible to pass through 2nd level.

oh men.....what wonderfull times where.....this were the really challenging games

  • I completed level one... just. This guy has got some moves!

  • I never had the skillz to play this on my C64. I think it was one of the most ridiculously hard games ever!

  • HOW the feck.. this game was like impossible! GJ

  • I loved this game... The musicn in the beginning was so cool. Mastertronic had the best sound tracks.

  • Rob Hubbard had the best soundtrax

  • Yes Hubbard was the best, but Galway comes a close second

  • OMG I forgot all about this game. Thank you for putting this game on here.

  • Gotta love the music in fourth chapter.

  • @vicemanFIN

    Yes that music is genious!

    3:53 <-- Quickstart

  • @vicemanFIN

This music was used again for 'Goldrunner' on Atari ST.

  • Unbelievable skill. People who haven't played this can't understand how difficult it is, disgustingly hard. I could make it to the level with the crab/spider thing, but didn't understand the stupid "no-go" meter...it is *not* as simple as it looks, I still don't get it.

Also, I remember my c64 actually lagged on the first level as if it couldn't always keep up with the code - made things even more maddening.

Yes it is incredible what Hubbard was able to compose for just 1 game!

  • This is amazing. Well done. Remember playing this back in the 80'ies. Loved it althought it was really tough. I made it to Level 5 twice, but never had any chance there. So great to see the end of the game all these years later. I still get really stressed and feel my heart almost ache, when I see that particular level here. I can't believe you made it to the end. I think that level was constructed to be impossible. Man I played this a lot, and ruined at least three joysticks on Level 3 :-D

  • This was a hard game indeed. I too never completed level 1.

Nice video, but you could have lost another life just for the sake of the viewers' amusement. It was funny to see the pterodactyl carry the monkey character off the top of the screen.

  • I used to put this game on in front of me mate

who had a sinclair spectrum, just to show him the capabilities of the 64s sound. back then computer games were just beeps n blips till Rob

    Hubbard came on the scene.

  • Cool stuff, the music from chapter 4 is absolutely brilliant.

  • I think I completed the first level like once and then game up. Too darn hard. Loved the music though.

  • amazing, this is one of the hardest games I can remember playing - made it to the spider level once...you are a game master, my friend...ps I love how theres a spaceship in the year 2000 - does anyone remember that? I must have had my memory erased by a mind ray! hahaha

  • I remember playing this at a friends house when we were in our early teens. I made it to level 2 once and shat myself. Extremely tough game. Great vid!

  • i could never get past the first level...

  • Yes, good music and also a maddeningly difficult game.

  • Damn, thats a good game

  • The Human Race had some of the coolest music.

  • It had some of the coolest music because Rob Hubbard composed it.
