  • Wesley is a hero.

  • Mother Theresa was horrible btw, NOT a heroin but an angel of death watch?v=78f3xGVR0Ks

  • whew. good thing mr. zimbardo ended on a positive note. the whole lecture was very heavy and thought-provoking. it's very painful to realize just how much violence is in the world. evil can happen to anyone at any time. but now we should focus more on the Psychology of Heroism...go Wesley!

  • When the young guys dad was thanking the hero for saving his sons life I totally choked up...God Bless that Hero

  • That man is a true hero

  • As someone who has Epilepsy and knows how out of control one can be while having a seizure---thank you to this great man. May we all use more courage this 2011, not less :):)

  • So the key is to always focus on what's good for the world!!! YES! I knew I would learn something from this! Thank you!

*promises to resist evil 4ever* LOL.

  • Hitler was not evil and Mother Theresa was no hero.

    Mass media brainwashing.

  • @2:21 that girl is SO RIDICULOUS! SHES 1 FOOT AWAY USING HER FLASH! PAUSE IT ON 2:21 and look at that crap!

  • @xep5k

If she was 100 feet away, the flash wouldn't have worked, the flash would work fine from a shorter distance. Apparently the light was low and she probably had a camera that wouldn't take good low-light high-ISO pictures and that's why she opted for a flash (or maybe she was just a casual photographer and always used flash).

  • go wesley !!!!!

  • also one must take into account that some threats you naturally have to disable/disabilitate/destroy. it just is the most sane way to deal with trouble at times

  • great deal of why people become destructive towards self or arbitrary external items/persona is heavy internal mechanical stress due to trojan horses such as being 'taught' when very small to feel guilt or shame when not being able to answer a question on the spot, or when tripping or doing or saying something...

  • OMG that guy is you know..black

  • @offmyface1 OMG! And he saved a white person!

  • it is all done for survival or for seeking a more prosperous existence. i kind of lost my thread of thoughts since i was thinking about this about an hour ago while watching a movie i will post again tomorrow morning or whenever it comes to me again. bottom line was that this is why you have to keep an open mind, a good faith for whatever you do because there are so many little things that add up in the end to define things. there was one or two more ideas to this but i cannot remember right now

  • [i kept thinking about this between here and there throughout the day the last few days and i came to post yet again,i think this is the last post i put here.hopefully someone can get anything from it,i dont think theres any harm in what i have posted so far]you must also understand that conflict is natural most often than not, and that agressivity is not just a bolder way of making a point in this world..its all natural, even revenge or reveng prior to an event..its not just a glitch of the mind

  • selective cerebral agression is necessary for a mature individual to develop, also a certain level self-centeredness is indispensable for the individual to function properly as part of a social group, vs trying to rely each and every time on the support of others around, even as a child. addiction to others around helping you out with simple tasks is not welcome not even if you are 11 months old

  • not sure how much sense i have made so far but i kept thinking about this while watching the game:P. so i came to post that i think that before being self-conscious about how other people/children react you must first get the chance to be aware of your reactions when you are pushed towards behaving bad/overagressively... it is indispensable to be able to further understand how others around you take their decisions. very emotional decisions (at least the first times)but decisions nonetheless...

  • the spe really pissed me off but i guess it is excusable now more than ever before since we have come a long way and people back then did not have all the information us 86's kids had when we grew up. nonetheless thank you for the presentation it's been quite interesting. big thumbs up for real life Denzel Washington at the end :)

  • they see that it is coming from the people who are supposed to care for them or be their friends, girlfriends, partners and so on. now there are people/children who are able to understand this ahead of time, better than others, and are left with somewhat less of a scarred psychic, but you cannot make a general rule of blaiming the ones that just can't, because their genes want to stick to what they were made for, because they do not want to rip theirselves apart from within to be able to carryon

  • imagine you are a warior on a field walking your way through life when you suddenly start feeling 'blows' but you do not know where they are coming from..what is the first thing you do..you run..but it doesn't stop something keeps 'hitting' you. you run some more and eventually you stop and start swinging around blindly..it still doesn't go away..what is the next best thing you can do to 'make it stop'?and now think about the fact that children KNOW where the opresion is coming from, they see it

  • it's very relative anyway... being 'bad'.. as much as there are really really chronically bad people out there there are also lots of tinier bad deeds which are very excusable just because of the society we have today.i think that to really understand it you must have had the situational luck to grow up as a very self-conscious child. because it all really starts when you are very little.. just as i said in the prev comment when they are left with 'no choice'

  • hmm don't think anyone ever does it in order to be a hero or to get anyone's gratification for it... so i think the term hero is kind of overused. the thing you have to look for is why do people want to help out. and i think the answer lies in ancestral surviving instinct within social groups.. as for why people get bad.. it all starts when they are left without any other choice... and from there it develops through time in various ways, following different courses along their lifeline...

  • SIMPLE RULES IN LIFE! DIE before you kill, HEAL before you harm, GIVE before you take. Remember the sacred in all life, the spirit within each. NAMASTE

"Sacred is this path we take, give up the ego for heavens sake, no fear, no frett, no loss, no gain, give up the ego and lose your pain!" - LOK

  • @skb0rzn thats not realistic, you must fight and kill evil whren it appears the nazis wud have loved it if their enemies died be4 killing.

  • Phillip Zimbardo, I wish that I had you in Psych101.

I, too, was disappointed, bored and received a mediocre grade.

You are a "real" instructor who kept my attention throughout the entire series

by providing research and analysis with real-world connections.

Student or non-student, it remains us how difficult it is to keep our dispositions intact in spite of the disastrous systems that we find ourselves in, from time to time.

Thank you for lifting us out of the mire with a feel-good ending.

  • WOW!!! Philip Zimbardo...amazing series...please keep up the good work, and show the world its true colors

  • Awesome finale; they are heroes. Really nice series and web site too.

  • Galvanizing and times and overall fascinating. I hope great changes result from you research. Thank you for posting this.

  • frikkin interesting lecture, thx alot for uploading it

  • Thank you.

  • that black guy is fucking hardcore I love it

  • thank you this is helping me do a report in my psyc 101 class

  • The black guy risks his own life to save someone. A white simply pulls a guy away from the tracks before he falls, and gets a cash reward from a millionaire stranger and TV interviews. Life is so fair.

  • it sure is buddy, it sure is :)!

  • anonomous soul i guess huh? youd have no problem pressing buttuns.stand tall and proud for you know not who u are!

  • Very thought provoking. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for putting this up
