I am not from a country with an institutionalised religion like Romania, thank goodness. Look at the countless instances that some unexplained aspect of the universe has been attributed to God, only to later be explained by natural, scientific causes. @MrInneressence2 a theory in science is one of the strongest concepts in science. It means that an idea is self consistent and has multiple, verified and independent pieces of evidence. Most importantly a theory must make testable predictions. Both the Big Bang Theory and the Theory of Evolution are true scientific theories in that they have plenty of evidence for them, they make testable predictions and are accepted by the scientific community.

Regarding to some of the comments here. I don't think the priest was polite at all, he had the assumption she was religious without any evidence at all and was practically forcing everybody including her to abide his religious doctrine (hand kissing). I would call that offensive. Actually she was the one behaving polite. I'm pretty sure she wasn't sorry at all while saying "I'm sorry but i'm not religious". The priest kissing her hand was at best a apology from his side.

I am not from a country with an institutionalised religion like Romania, thank goodness. The cultural assumption that you must kiss a priest's hand would be difficult to deal with if you are not of that religion or if you have no wish to kiss a strangers hand for that matter. I have no doubt many people in that country consider it an honour or blessing to do so, but others would do it because of expectation. He expected, you denied, so he kissed you. Pretty funny.

You don't believe in that so you didn't go along with it. Cool. No problem there.The priest kissed your hand because 1) you're a lady (i assume) and 2) you were courageous enough to speak your mind.
