I saw The Green Mamba Jet Car back in the early 70's at The DEVILS BOWL SPEEDWAY in West Haven, Vermont. After driving the car around the track, the best part was when Doug backed the Mamba up to a junked station wagon in the infield and completely gutted it with the after burner for about a minute or two !!! GOOD STUFF !!!
Met Doug tonight tonight and he's still a great guy to sit down and talk to. You can tell he's gettin tired thought. So full of old school info it's scary.
I saw this car several times in the 1970's at OCIR. This car was built to run the 1/4 mile flat out, not to be a sideshow freak burning cars and trucks.
@DLRPyro1 I agree! The old OCIR days were the BEST! Unfotunately, times change, and to Doug's credit he has survived by changing along with them. I remember him as a true racer who didn't let terrible adversity get in his way. Those really were the good old days!
thats pretty bad design there.. but i have the handed to him about the bravery.. being able to patch the problem.. the problem relays on turbine being mounted directly in the back of driver..if sht goes wrong you whole body suck into turbine .. you became burger ..
