This video just takes me back to my childhood, Corby was much different then. Although the old town centre was not exactly "top of the range" but I miss going to the Saucy chef for a milkshake :)

I live in kettering and tbh i hate corby, it has the highest number of alchole related deaths than any other town in the United Kingdom. yeah they've done some redevelopments and a few busses here and there but like i always said about corby; "you can change the town but you can't change the people" because face it or not; Corby is a shit hole and just another breeding ground for ASBOs and alcoholics. Graham(?) made this documentary in 2005. It's accurate for the time. Yes, Corby has developed, and thank shit, but I graduated from CTC in 2005, and it really was not good. I'm all for supporting Corby, but don't undermine the effect it had on people growing up in it at that time. It wasn't easy.

@grahamwilliams Every estate has had major work done on it and the feeling in the town is very much more upbeat. We now have a train station with a direct link to london, that's proved a massive boon to the town. Part two could only be made by you with a compare and contrast, then and now thing.

Yeah Corby is changing massively for the better. This video is very much outdated... But its still shit in places...Although growing up around all that was depressing.
For all the people who live in Corby who want to see change and for the better don't listen to this I suspect the people who made this video have not thought of showing footage of how the area's look now. So out of the things they said they were going to do almost 3 years ago the only things they've not come through on is a new hospital, new major roads and a new cinema. I'd say that progress is being made towards the town becoming better. The only big problem at the moment is there are no jobs here, with thousands looking for jobs in the town finding one in the near future will be hard.
Reminds me of the steel mills that shut down on Chicago's south side here in the states and the consequent slow economic destruction of the neighborhoods around the mills.
I have lived my whole life in Corby and not all of it is like this video, This video shows the bad parts of Corby and not the good things. Corby used to be a nice place when it had the thriving steel works, but when that closed down in the late 70's early 80's most of the jobs went with it and now the printing presses are closing down more jobs have been lost. It is not the fault of the people who live in Corby but the fact that so many jobs have been lost over the past thirty years that some people cannot find another job and have to resort to crimeAlthough it is still a crap town.

This video is very misleading and we all know how easy it is to 'bend' statistics! The negative basis of this video and the derogatory comments is just stupid. Corby has very friendly people and although there is a high population on low incomes, it is confirmed time and time again by chareties that Corby is by far the most generous town. I live in kettering and tbh i hate corby, it has the highest number of alchole related deaths than any other town in the United Kingdom. yeah they've done some redevelopments and a few busses here and there but like i always said about corby; "you can change the town but you can't change the people" because face it or not; Corby is a shit hole and just another breeding ground for ASBOs and alcoholics. Its such a shame they built it so close to kettering.

Graham(?) made this documentary in 2005. It's accurate for the time. Yes, Corby has developed, and thank shit, but I graduated from CTC in 2005, and it really was not good. I'm all for supporting Corby, but don't undermine the effect it had on people growing up in it at that time. It wasn't easy.

@grahamwilliams Every estate has had major work done on it and the feeling in the town is very much more upbeat. We now have a train station with a direct link to london, that's proved a massive boon to the town. Part two could only be made by you with a compare and contrast, then and now thing.

For all the people who live in Corby who want to see change and for the better don't listen to this I suspect the people who made this video have not thought of showing footage of how the area's look now. Ok just a few place's still need cleaning up but the majority of the town is looking a lot better now and WE all hope and will one day be a decent place to bring up our children. If people like these want to live like this go live somewhere else.

So out of the things they said they were going to do almost 3 years ago the only things they've not come through on is a new hospital, new major roads and a new cinema. I'd say that progress is being made towards the town becoming better. The only big problem at the moment is there are no jobs here, with thousands looking for jobs in the town finding one in the near future will be hard.

I think u guys need to stop ripping on this graham guy. Think about this he has shown this on Television and had an interview with David Cameron about the town, and now look at it. I mean its all been refurbished and it looks much better. If this documentary wasn't shown then maybe nobody would have cared about corby.

Plus this was actually shown in schools to be discussed on, it was shown way back in my old school CCC so this video is actually a good history of our town.

Very well made and true.
Corby used to be a nice place when it had the thriving steel works, but when that closed down in the late 70's early 80's most of the jobs went with it and now the printing presses are closing down more jobs have been lost. It is not the fault of the people who live in Corby but the fact that so many jobs have been lost over the past thirty years that some people cannot find another job and have to resort to crimeAlthough it is still a crap town.

This video is very misleading and we all know how easy it is to 'bend' statistics! The negative basis of this video and the derogatory comments is just stupid. Corby has very friendly people and although there is a high population on low incomes, it is confirmed time and time again by chareties that Corby is by far the most generous town. Sure any town has its element, but its far safer than Kett or Wellingboro.
