TY for posting! The Screaming Woman was the first ever horror story I read as a kid in grammar school. Scared the hell out of me, as did this movie. The scenes of the buried woman are just way too unsettling.
4:27 Hahahahahaha!! Thats one of the silliest openings I've ever seen! So she sees a living woman half buried in the ground. Is that all? Big deal. That would've been funny if they made a tv series of The Screaming Woman. With the show opening and closing with DeHavilland running around and freaking out over nothing. [ kidding ] DeHavilland is a great actress. But she made her share of turkeys Like this film. Just my opinion.
TK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!! oh my gosh.... ahhh, got to be 15 again...- if they would put out ALL of those Movies of the Week, I would buy them... we will not watch TV anymore.
the first time I saw this in 1972 I was 11, and it scareds me, it took me almost 38 years to find it again, I just found it on dvd, and the first time I saw it in almost 38 years. I remember the first time I saw it, how it scared me, and I always had fears of being closed in something with no way out.
Strange how many of us recall seeing this as a child - me too! Like others; I recall the most frightening scene at the end when the woman reaches for Olivia's hand, and literally pulls herself up out of the grave - REALLY scary... I've been looking for this movie for years! Seems the guys who choose movies for release on DVD sometimes get it wrong, as this is badly wanted and well-remembered by many and should be issued - yet still remains unavailable... Thanks for Posting this!
Is there any chance of making more of this available?
I remember seeing the first half of this on tv around the late 70's, and it freaked me out so much that I couldn't watch the rest. I never saw the last half until it aired on the 'Scream' channel about 2 years ago.
This film scared the hell out of me when I saw it in July 1985 on television. It has not been shown since. The end got me as it was like Carrie when the woman's hand shot out of the grave at night and grabbed Olivia DeHavilland as she tried to dig her out. Creepy!
Ladyseverene...do you recall if the lady herself came out of the grave,or was it just her hand? I was very young when I originally saw it and can barely remember the movie at all. If anything,I would love to see that end scene again. Thanks for any info you can give on it.
Well, I' ve seen this film when I was 13 years old and it really gave me the creeps. When I went to bed that night my little cat Ericos came underneath my bed and stared playing with the springs. All night long I had nigntmares and the feelin that the buried wonan was below my bed...Heeelp, where can I found the rest ? Athens Greece!
I was 11 when this aired and it scared the crap out of me. I used to love the "Tuesday Show of the Week". I also want to see "When Michael Calls". That one really petrified me. And how can you forget the tv series "Night Gallery"?
This movie scared the pants off me as a child, I dont think anything has since. But does anyone know where to find this on dvd or vhs I have searched everywhere.
She's in good shape--she ran right through all the credits.
I can't help but think that this movie was misnamed. If it's supposed to refer to the buried lady, it should have been called The Moaning, or Whimpering Woman. If it's supposed to mean de Havilland, it should have been called The Running Woman.
De Havilland hated the title change. It was originally called "The Scream" and, of course, it referred to the woman beneath the ground. She said the change upset her very much but she had no control over what the producers decided or how they wanted to market the film.
I remember "When Michael Calls" (also called "Shattered Silence"). Michael Doug las, Elizabeth Ashley and Ben Gazzara. One of my favourites. I, too, have been looking everywhere for it. Wish someone would post it.
I loved this movie as a child. The Movie of the Week was always sure to scare you. Where did you find this? There are many more good ones, does anyone remember - Five Desperate Women, How Awful About Alan, When Michael Calls?? I would love to find those!
This film haunted me for years. We were supposed to watch a film about an aeroplane crash but a real event happened so they played this instead. I could only have been 8 or so. I had nightmares for weeks and still remember how terrified I was.
Have the first part, it says 1 of 8 , please does anyone have the rest of it, this movie scared the hell out of me for years, but I loved it!!!! Can someone tell me where to find it? I bought a copy of it, off of ebay, it was nothing but snow!!! I was soo upset
i recently wrote ms dehavilland. i own her personally signed autograph now- she was 'Melanie' from "GWTW"- "THE SCREAMING WOMAN" was so frightening and although it was a made for tv movie its a classic in my book.

The Screaming Woman by Ray Bradbury. Originally presented on radio's "Suspense," starring little Margaret O'Brian.

I was 12 when this movie come out and it freaked me out. I used to think that Ms. Olovia was the screaming woman, and not the woman under the ground.
