  • without a doubt the best version of this song yeeahhhh~~

  • it may not be a dig, but the graphic descriptions of his "body thrashing around"..

i just think its quite insensitive and ghastly..

  • funny :) though my favorite bit with MJ isnt there :(

  • Is it just me or is there a verse missing.

It starts with "Now pour there's no stopping" and there's a mention of M.J in it too.

That's the verse I was talking about.

  • the oriinal has refrence to the late MJ have a listen..

  • That's how I see the song anyway. It's not just River. He had the most recent death come the release of this song and so it had that shock value. It could have been any one those listed in the song.

  • I like jon bonhams coke roadie song better, But this song is still one of the best of All time ay

  • TISM included members who were noted as "vocals/dancer" so when doing a non-dancing version, what else was there to do? You've seen the "Whatareya" video?

  • Love how theres some guys sitting around doing nothing

  • Utter brilliance.

  • I lol'd at dead junkies.

  • Wow, the guy who introduces the song moves his head a lot!

  • This song isnt about river phoenix as Ekfud said, its about premature death.

    '

it quotes the slab that bon scott drunk (late singer from ACDC), hendrix injecting himself, seat on lynard skynards plane...

it is a bit trashy, but it only points out stars that had habits (bar skynard) bigger then their careers.

  • I think there are quite a few people who believe this was a direct dig at River and missed the point of the song.

The addiction is vicariously following celebrity excesses and premature death.

More a comment on media & pop culture than anything else.

  • the best actor of all time that's a laugh he was in like 7 movies before he "tragically" died of a drug over dose just cause you die doesn't automatically make you a great actor....................btw the reason why Tism haven't performed in a while is because the guitarist died of cancer that's who we should be sad about a great Aussie musician who died some some wanker American who decided he wanted to mix cocaine with heroin

  • Fair enough, but the song doesn't ridicule River alone. It's about how the clumsy deaths of various celebrities have made them heroes. They mention Edmund Hillary and how he is a hero, and that those stupid enough to kill themselves with drug abuse are brought up to that attention level and beyond. He's supposedly on the drug that killed River Phoenix, and surviving, saying 'why aren't I a hero', or more so than River?

  • Agreed, but that didn't stop labels/studios/agents having a field say with rushes of sales (a certain Michael Jackson topped the charts the other day.) So while TISM are far more brutal and say what they want to say and everyone hears it, there are people rubbing their hands together out of anyone's sight. People are probably making a fortune off Jackson's works right now. Same with Heath ledger, would it even have been half as successful had he not died?

So TISM are by no means the only ones!

  • Misfortune implies that there was some sort of bad luck involved. Abusing harder drugs is a pretty surefire way to make your own luck.

  • *woosh*

  • that was a freakin awesome performance of a classic song. tism are in a different league. always have been. always will be.

    ala.. jon bonhams coke roadie.

whats up?... do you look down on drug addicts unless they are your idols? river aint the first and wont be the last.

how come so many people like to watch crime tv and play violent video games these days? there's something you should whinge about instead of defending rivers drug overdose.

  • they've kind of stopped performing now anyway, so I doubt they care about people knowing who they are

  • @clairebbbear They don't. Damian Cowell (Humphrey B. Flaubert) has formed the DC3, and their debut track is called I Was the Guy in TISM.

  • Well I thought it was funny that they can actually play all these Greek instruments and do this song. Bash me all you want, I thought it was funny.

  • Yeah, because being remembered for dying face down in the gutter high on all manner of drugs is so much more attractive. "Tragically died".. Give me a fucking break. There's nothing tragic about a drug addict OD'ing. And best actor of all time? You must be almost as high as he was.

  • ahahaha fluently banged compliments :D

  • This song's just shit.

Poor River. What a way to be remembered, with idiots bragging that they're on the drug that killed you.

    :(

  • Woah, ripping the piss out of a man who tragically died and was probably the best actor of all time?..... classy.

    What an absolute insult..

  • 3:16 you can see their names.

  • You're dumb, TISM.

You put your real names for the songwriting credits...or are you implying that you have a Cryptic Corporation like the Residents?

  • Actually, they just don't actually care that much, it's just a gimmick.

  • What? It's true.

  • I Love It...

  • I've got a 256kb mp3 copy off the DVD, if anyone wants it sent to them give me a shout!

  • They should be playing backgammon!

  • This is 100% accurate according to a friend of mine who's father is from Greece.

  • this song fucking rocks

  • This is the awesome.

  • LOL :)

    Thanks for sharing
