Fitness competitors are extremely tanned because the darkness absorbs the light and deepens the shadows so that the judges can get a better idea of the sculpted tissue underneath. As for the extreme amount of makeup, it's stage makeup. They are under bright blinding lights that wash everything out, they need to help of cosmetics to have a face, broadway actors also use techniques like this but I don't see the majority mocking them. They don't look like this EVERYDAY, shit would be expensive.

People, they put the cream tanner on their bodies to show muscle definition in the bright lights. Agreed that it would look better if they put it on their faces, but it's going to come off in the next week or so and be blotchy and ugly. It's a common body builder competition practice and this is understood by the judges.
To everyone complaining about the girl with the black body/white face, she doesn't actually look like that. The positioning of the lights were too high thus making all the girls paler on their faces (especially her). Nathalia Melo is a babe this event didn't do them justice also the camera setup is subpar these type of girls need to be seen in there entirety not just from the calves up...

People, they put the cream tanner on their bodies to show muscle definition in the bright lights. Agreed that it would look better if they put it on their faces, but it's going to come off in the next week or so and be blotchy and ugly. It's a common body builder competition practice and this is understood by the judges.
