Suppose the school board allowed this girl to bring her friend and wear a tux. Then that would mean a boy could bring another boy and wear a dress and high heels! @snooky396, words such as ignorant, fearful, hateful and sad are respectful words that allow someone to describe another who acts with such traits. If we deem such words as disrespectful merely because they are considered unfavorable, then we rob ourselves of our ability to describe someone with such legitimate traits (hence, why these words exist in our language). Based on the comments you've posted, you are coming across as ignorant, for what it's worth.

Obviously, the school board doesn't agree either and their the one's you are trying to get across to, right? What if you called these people and told them they were ignorant, fearful, hateful and sad? Do you think they will change their views? Sorry, that is not respectful, it's insultive.

No one is normal for being straight. Constance is not pushing anything down anyone's throat - she wants to take her girlfriend to the prom no matter what anyone else does, and the school board is pushing their conservative potentially-religious agenda down her throat. It appears obvious that you are virulently homophobic.

I will be contacting these people all right! To praise them for their actions! Just because every says it's all right does not make it right! Heck, a lot of people think doing drugs and drinking is all right and cool, but it's not and neither is this!

i am ashamed of my school's actions and everyone blaming her, saying she wanted attention, I've know constance since her 9th grade year and she has been a great friend, great to be around, i just hope that the school, thats already going broke over an overpriced stadium for football, abides and ends this quickly.

I can't believe one of the board members uses his Allstate e-mail address. If he's an employee or agent of Allstate, then the board's action is definitely tarnishing Allstate's image. Allstate does not discriminate in hiring based on sexual orientation.
