The best way to practice is to pick one or two licks that sound good to you. Made up or copied. Then, once you have the notes memorized in the licks, go back and forth between what your soul says without thinking (improv) and the lick you're trying to play perfectly. This has helped me to easily implement each new lick into my improvisation.
