@FSXflyer1143 Yes, non-powered control unit means it's not powered (has no motor) and a control unit is that it is capable of operating a train with a motorized engine pushing it, so all the controls are still operable, though they have a different way of operating now, so let's say that the engineer speeds up, that makes the genesis engine on the back pushing speed up. It's just saves fuel so they don't have to have a motorized engine on both ends. Good question though.

how did you build NPCU 90214 and what did it start out as

I took a Lifelike F40 I got for 10 bucks, de-powered the motor, sanded down the roof, added side doors, ac unit, and a K5LA, and painted and decalled it up. I'm making a better one in phase 5 off a walthers body. I'll upload some videos if you'd like that.
