The british monatary system of fiat specie by a fractional reserve central bank has been a proven failure in America over the last century of corruption, the canadian nickle or "the queens beaver" is now actually raising in value. Our Constitution mandates a bicameral precious metal legal tender system in Article One section 8 and 10.England and canada have indeed been victorious in corrupting Americas money like its own.Now get the Fuck out with your paper $ and get the fuck out of Ireland too.
Hows your independance? Lets see you killed your two decent presidents. J.F Ken and Lincoln. You started a civil war. You attacked Viatnam. Your most recent. You vote in Bush then attack Iraq. Thank God you're independant because I would hate to be conjoined to a nation like that!
yeah, but that happened because you guys fought countries that were either too small, too weak to defend themselves, or that had no desire to fight back.
Wow. I didn't realize there were this many ignorant people in this world, The U.S. did win the Battle of New Orleans and they do teach it in school I specifically remember learning about this. Also there was a Battle of New Orleans in the Civil War but this song is talking about the one that took place during the war of 1812, There weren't any Brits in the Civil War dumbasses. Hence the name Civil War.

Hey, we successfully defended our homeland from the British invasion, and got the rest of the world to respect our sovereignty and military strength which was the major reason for us going to war. I would call that a victory.
Canada didn't rebel because most of the people who lived or moved there were in fact loyalists. The only rebels in Canada were French. And even they closed ranks.
America was also too broke to carry on with more war. Britain turned to its empire on the other side of the world.
The first US government displaced 1000s of folk and stole their plantations in the process. George Washington himself had black slaves that had previously worked for a royalist family.
in the revolution they had lots of troops and ships in the colenies helping them fight the british, in the war of 1812 they didn't but were fighting a largew war with britian in europe. the person who made the video makes it sound like the battle of new orleans was part of the revolution, it wasn't it was part of the war of 1812 witch is never taught in america becouse they didn't win it
nooo8ooooo shut the fuck up because usa HAS won the war and plus british had 0 points i mean come on you need canadians to help you guys ? we didnt need anyone and we still kicked your ass, the 1812 war was taught in america alright ? stfu and die thank you.
for the record i am canadian, but really usa didn't win and britain didn't win, plus canada was part of britian, and was fight most of the powes in the world already at the time, but if you want to beleave what you want go ahead
for instance the brits didn't like that americans hid behind trees, ambushed them, and targeted officers during the revolution but later the brits used the same tactics against the french with the 95th reg. and after the war of 1812 the americans rethought their strategies because of all their loses to the brits.
It's rather ironic and most people do not know this fact....
The very same infantry, the Black Watch in the British Army who earlier had defeated Napoleon's army at Waterloo was later handed a stunning defeat by Andrew Jackson's young and inexperienced US Army at New Orleans. Whether the Brits want to deny it or not, the Americans could hold their own and crush the enemy on the battlefield.
brittish tactics were terrible at the time, have a bunch of guys holding flags and beating drums dressed in fancy bright red uniforms march twords the enemy, all fire in a general direction at once (aiming above the enemys position) then everybody reload in unicen, just plain stupid
Soldiers of every major army, including the American army, in the world at that time fired together, reloaded together, and marched together with flags and drums. The British did not deliberately aim above the enemy. Armies fought in the way I earlier described partly because of the relatively poor weaponry available. Muskets had to be fired together to increase the chance that a lot of the enemy was hit.
You yanks do get hot under the collar over a silly little war, mind you if we had wanted we could have distroyed your young republic as we did Washington and the White House.
Mage13246, Canada actually WAS involved in the War of 1812, VERY involved. The largest battle ever fought in Canadian soil took place in this war, the Battle of Lundy's Lane. Chryslers Farm and Queenston Heights also took place in Canadian soil, and we foght both Canadian troops and British as well as their indian allies.
canada did have something to do with the war of 1812, it was the canadians who burnt down the white house...a little fact you yanks seem to forget, that and we also well supported the brits...because we were pussies at that time
no they did not. Canada wasn't even a country in 1812 o.O
The british burnt down the White House. The only reason you say Canadians did it is because Canada was around not as a country, but as a colony under the british crown.
canada was a bunch of colenies belonging to britian but unlike the states we didn't rebel, costing thousands of lives, in a war you culdn't have won if frace, spain, and holland hadden't have helped you. Now they all dislike you becouse everywon forgot how they helped you, canada waited and is now traeted better by everywon
Where is Frace? Do you mean "France"? Are you a spelling class dropout?
I hate to burst your peace-loving pacifist non-violent Canadian theory, but Canada didn't rebel against the British because its population was so small they would have had trouble putting together a hockey league, let alone a formidable army.
Please, get over your American envy and enjoy your summers in Florida and California!
You see all those prettty marble palaces in England & lords who don't work. Some of that marble and timber was gutted from where? America. We kicked them out because we refused King Georges method of buying our wealth. We refused his paper money for our natural resourses. But the central bank of England just could not except that,so guess what, they invaded again. So we had pirates like Jean Lafite(a cajun)freed blacks, creoles and voluterns from the voluteer state Tennessee.
we beat the british twice, we can do it again. our military is def superior. but i would hate to lose a valuable allie esp since i have family over there
first off the canadians had NOTHING to do with the American War for Independence... in fact after the war, Canada was STILL a colony of the british crown... In fact,,, many loyalists fled to canada after our independence was won. And second off, we did not have a second war of independence... the war of 1812 was about the fact that british war ships were capturing american merchant ships, and forcing thier crews into labor!!!!
The NW Ord. and the Art. of Confed. had invited Canada to be a part of the USA. They foresaw that uniting with the 13 colonies would be disastrous to their independence, as was shown by the Civil War where the "confederate" states decided the contract had been breached and wanted to go their own way, which did not set well for the power usurpers in D.C. So much for a voluntary union, and "govt...deriving their just power by the consent of the governed, as laid out in the Decl. of Ind., eh?
LOL 1:09 Squrlle green Barete. WHEN SQURIllES ATTACK. thats eather a really small gun or a big ass squrelle love the song poor gator i can't spell squrille so dont gripe at me about it
kinda funny how canadians think canada won the war, first off it was considered a stale mate and when will they realize canada wasn't a country than, and they were all british troops
The British never ran, they withdrew from the field. It was the Americans that ran from the attacking British at Queenston Heights. Americans are all happy when they've got their guns firing but upon the point of a British bayonet they're as good as dead.
the battle of new orleans was the only battle the USA won in the war of 1812. The US lost the war, for they never took any land over(which was there primary objective). And this battle happened AFTER the war ended.
Actually we wore red because we were the first nation to find a red dye that was cheap. And the battle of New Orleans well although we lost that fight i'm proud of those brave lads in red who piled into them yanks. And it isnt the 2nd war of independence America declared war on us so we were obliged to invade them and burn the White house after they tried to take Canada. And the Yanks did just as much running as us.
I'm from holland and not familiar with American History so it's the very first time i ever learned about this 2nd war of independence. Until yesterday, i only knew about an song called 'Mexico'from Les humfries singers back from the 1970s, with obviously messed-up lyrics. I was wondering what story was behind it if any, so a friend at youtube pointed me here. I think its just super!
wanna know more about 1812? The americans new that Canada was full of rich furs and crops, as well as land. So while they thoguht Britain was to busy oversea's to help Canada, they invaded. president (im not sure who) said it would be mere marching to take Canada. he was wrong. the first battle was in defeat for the americans, many more battles followed. The Canadain troops burned the white house to the ground. The battle of New Orleans was the only battle the americans won in the war of 1812.
wow Are you mentaly retarded that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Get a history book and read it Oh and if us Americans only won one battle HOW DID WE WIN THE WAR! You stupid motherfucker.
Actually, the Americans did not win the War of 1812 - it's widely regarded as a stalemate, with the the American forces being repulsed and neither side losing/gaining ground. However, don't listen to that idiot shadowboy...he's a moron. Of course New Orleans wasn't the ONLY battle the Americans won. He's a dummy.
The war ended in a stalemate the British withdrew soldiers later in the war they were losing money by the years. Yes we claimed victory but it neither country won but it ptoved America had a powerful military.
You are aware that the Battle of New Orleans wasn't the ONLY battle the Americans won right shadowboy?? You'll have to make sure your facts are correct before posting ridiculous assertations and moronic rants. You'll only look much more stupid when you post such drivel.
LMFAO canada never fought in this war you dumb ass! shadowboy Canada was still a colony under British rule. Please take note that it was Brits vs Americans and it was the british that burned down the white house moron! PLEASE LOOK UP FACTS IN YOUR HISTORY BOOK IF YOU HAVE ONE!
war of 1812 was caused by britain AND france seizing our ships, we asked both of them to stop and britain falt out said no, we stopped trading with both of them for a while and britain agreed to stop, but 3 days late, for U.S declared war on britain
If you had paid attention in your history classes, you would understand the purpose of a Red Uniform and Psychological warfare. It was the surprise use of Batavarian Cannon crews that caused the massive casualties. The Uniform color made no difference in this era.
Camouflage was unimportant in the days of short-range flintlock muskets that made lots of smoke. Visibility on the battlefield cut down on "friendly fire". Few Tenn. riflemen killed anybody that day. Most hid behind the ramparts, as did most US infantry soldiers. The idea that riflemen wone the Battle of New Orleans is a romantic myth, but a myth, nonetheless. The overwhelming majority of British casualties at the Battle of New Orleans were caused by massed, deadly American cannon fire.
Yeah, we didn't invade you in 1812. You invaded us in your war of aggression. We were defending ourselves. Sounds similar to whats happening today. (BTW, the Orders and Press Ganging has ceased before America declared war on Britain so those weren't the reasons. Lookup "Manifest Destiny" and you'll see the real reason the American government was so keen to make war.
We invaded a SUBJUGATED COLONY, not your country itself. The siege of Quebec was a British invasion of Canada. Look up "mercantillism" and "British imperialism" to find out why England invaded over 1/4th of the globe, Canada was jack compared to the Brits. Amritsar, Bloody Sunday 1 and 2, etc. etc.
Yes, forcing American sailors had stopped before the war began, but news didn't reach the US until after War was declared. If the British had never done it at all, it would of not been an issue. And just because they stopped doesn't mean they didn't deserve punishment.
How did muslim extremists manage to wire up 2x110 & 1x50 story sky scrapers with thermite and explosive charges to bring them down at free fall speed? (Controlled demolition)
But those buildings came down at free fall speed. Which means controlled demolition. We've already got a positive chemical result for thermite being used. Would the Israelis be able to wire up some of the largest buildings in the world like that? What's more likely?
No no, I don' think the Israelis did it, but I think they knew beforehand, and delibrately kept the information from us to make it more likely to go to war in the Middle East, and attack some countries not on Israel's supporter list.
I agree with ireland88. But short of that, JP5 aircraft fuel, along with a simple high school knowledge of phyics. Kinetic energy (ie enery in motion) the principle is KE=one half the mass multiplied by the velocity squared. No conspiracy there. Simple physics and engineering. Metal fatigues under heat. And getting a giant slug slammed into it. Intelligence failure. Plain and simple
But notice that "Manifest Destiny" is alive and well today. We only need look at the Iraq debacle now to realise this. The Neo-Cons in 2000 wrote a document through PNAC called "Rebuilding America's Defences", which basically called for the take over of the Middle East! And now they are doing it. My nation is corrupted, and so is yours today. What a shame.
That is deffinitely true, the neo-cons have taken a note from the Manifest Destiny manual, all right.
I take my learning from the just war theory from St. Thomas Aquinas. I don't glorify the war of 1812, or any war, but I think that history is important to learn to better our societies and our nations.
Listen, I'm not supporting press ganging, nor am I supporting Napoleon, as America was doing. So there was wrong on both sides. I was originally making the point that America declared war and were the first to invade another country - Canada. So please don't talk in terms of "valiantly defended the republic from the threat of foreign invasion" because you guys invaded us first! Not to mention the Indians (whom we protected), were subsequently massacred for the sake of US "Manifest Destiny".
If Britain was trading with Osama Bin Laden you'd do something similar yourselves if you needed the men so that your country could survive. Napoleon needed defeating, otherwise it would have been the end of Britain and the end of free europe. Hitler 150 years sooner, except he'd have won. Anyway, we'd stopped press ganging, but America STILL declared war on us. Which shows that conquest of Canada & the Native Americans was REALLY on the mind of the US Government.
I don't see the comparison between Osama bin Laden and Napoleon, but it's in the past. The sailors weren't given back, were they? Or were they pitted aganist Napoleon's man o' wars, and killed in the hundreds?
I was just making the points that this war was really over American expansionism, not a British invasion. America used British press ganging as an excuse to declare war on Britain, but this had really ended by the time the bill passed in congress. America was trying, by conquest, to take advantage of the fact Britain was at war with France, in order to conquer the entirety of North America. But they failed. Anway, just read Wikipedia.
Wikipedia says THOUSANDS were kidnapped and forced into a war they wanted no part of against their will. You impeded on the sovreignty of the American people through illegal kidnapping, thus the declaration of war. Whether or not SOME people wanted to invade Canada, to free it or conquer it we do not know. What I do know is that prepare for war if you take Americans hostage.Somehow I don't think Britain would like it if we did that to you.
"The British were engaged in a life-and-death war with Napoleon and could not allow the Americans to help the enemy, regardless of their theoretical neutral rights to do so. As Horsman explains, "If possible, England wished to avoid war with America, but not to the extent of allowing her to hinder the British war effort against France." - Wikipedia.
"The officially-stated reasons for declaring war were ending impressment..and ending British military support for western native tribes, a major goal..was aggressive territorial expansion. The intent was to drive the British out of North America. One faction in congress had a desire to conquer Canada while the British were occupied in their war with France. As it happened, the British were no longer impressing seamen at the time the bill was passed." - Wikipedia.
Yes I agree, a people should not be governed without consent. Back to the War of 1812, I just wanted to make the point that it was the United States which invaded us first, to which we retaliated. So, it wasn't us declaring war. We were taking your men for the Royal Navy, but you have to understand that we were literally in a war for survival against Napolean, and seeing as America was aiding our evil enemy we did that as a means to an end. Ugly but understandable in some ways.
I agree with you there. We should never have been in Ireland, but it was good that we could strike a deal so that they could gain independence without all out war. Northern Ireland is different. I see you're an IRA supporter so you'll probably disagree with me. Fact is, most Northern Irish are loyalists and happy to remain British. So with NI it's the will of the people in a democracy. Anyway, this was supposed to be about the War of 1812.
Well, they are free to leave the Union any time they wish. I might as well say that Texas, California and Iowa "swear fealty to a federal government and have to fight in any war Washington chooses to wage." It's nonsensical. Surely you believe in the United States, we believe in the United Kingdom. Our Union has lasted for 200 years and it has stood us in good stead.
Yes because they were part of our Empire, we gave them independence as we have eventually done for all our other colonies. Now, Quebecians are French, but the majority of Canadians outside Quebec are from Scottish, Irish, English stock. Well, you may want the commonwealth to shatter but that's not the case for the majority of its members who appreciate the privileges of membership. Can we get back to the point now?
The British Navy Impressed 10,000 US citizens,That's why War was declared in 1812. At Least Our borders were respected after the War of 1812,It wasn't true after the American Revolution(The British still had forts in Ohio in Violation of the treaty).

Let's not forget that the United States declared war on Britain and promptly invaded Canada first.
But the United States were fought back and had to retreat from their invasion of Canada.
So in terms of the invasion of the North, it was a failure for the US.
Eventually everyone retreated to their prior borders.
(The Battle of New Orleans in 1814 was fought after the cease fire had already been declared.)

So we had pirates like Jean Lafite(a cajun)freed blacks, creoles and voluterns from the voluteer state Tennessee.

first off the canadians had NOTHING to do with the American War for Independence... in fact after the war, Canada was STILL a colony of the british crown... In fact,,, many loyalists fled to canada after our independence was won. And second off, we did not have a second war of independence... the war of 1812 was about the fact that british war ships were capturing american merchant ships, and forcing thier crews into labor!!!!
riguy16746 3 years ago
The NW Ord. and the Art. of Confed. had invited Canada to be a part of the USA.

Jgerm529 3 years ago
Actually, the Americans did not win the War of 1812 - it's widely regarded as a stalemate, with the the American forces being repulsed and neither side losing/gaining ground. However, don't listen to that idiot shadowboy...he's a moron. Of course New Orleans wasn't the ONLY battle the Americans won. He's a dummy.
Just thought I'd add that.
88guilly88 3 years ago
The war ended in a stalemate the British withdrew soldiers later in the war they were losing money by the years. Yes we claimed victory but it neither country won but it ptoved America had a powerful military.

The British were just looking to get their ass kicked I guess. Wearing bright red uniforms in front of Tennessee marksmen....how stupid can you get?
SpringHeeledJack4U 4 years ago
If you had paid attention in your history classes, you would understand the purpose of a Red Uniform and Psychological warfare. It was the surprise use of Batavarian Cannon crews that caused the massive casualties. The Uniform color made no difference in this era.
Qtrmstrfta 4 years ago

Lookup "Manifest Destiny" and you'll see the real reason the American government was so keen to make war.
noeuro 4 years ago
We invaded a SUBJUGATED COLONY, not your country itself. The siege of Quebec was a British invasion of Canada. Look up "mercantillism" and "British imperialism" to find out why England invaded over 1/4th of the globe, Canada was jack compared to the Brits. Amritsar, Bloody Sunday 1 and 2, etc. etc.
ireland88 4 years ago
Yes, forcing American sailors had stopped before the war began, but news didn't reach the US until after War was declared. If the British had never done it at all, it would of not been an issue. And just because they stopped doesn't mean they didn't deserve punishment.

Ok, so who do you think was responsible for bringing the towers down through controlled demolition? Because muslims didnt plant all those charges.
noeuro 4 years ago
Why can't "Muslims" plant charges? They've done it before. (They are'nt real Muslims, thus the quotation marks)
ireland88 4 years ago
Well if you mean that agents of the United States government brought those buildings down. I agree.
noeuro 4 years ago
I don't believe that.
ireland88 4 years ago
How did muslim extremists manage to wire up 2x110 & 1x50 story sky scrapers with thermite and explosive charges to bring them down at free fall speed? (Controlled demolition)
noeuro 4 years ago
But those buildings came down at free fall speed. Which means controlled demolition. We've already got a positive chemical result for thermite being used. Would the Israelis be able to wire up some of the largest buildings in the world like that? What's more likely?
noeuro 4 years ago
No no, I don' think the Israelis did it, but I think they knew beforehand, and delibrately kept the information from us to make it more likely to go to war in the Middle East, and attack some countries not on Israel's supporter list.
ireland88 4 years ago
Well, who do you think is behind 9-11?
noeuro 4 years ago
Muslim extremists, with the Israeli Mossad's knowledge.
ireland88 4 years ago

What a shame.
noeuro 4 years ago

Not to mention the Indians (whom we protected), were subsequently massacred for the sake of US "Manifest Destiny".
noeuro 4 years ago
If Britain was trading with Osama Bin Laden you'd do something similar yourselves if you needed the men so that your country could survive. Napoleon needed defeating, otherwise it would have been the end of Britain and the end of free europe. Hitler 150 years sooner, except he'd have won. Anyway, we'd stopped press ganging, but America STILL declared war on us. Which shows that conquest of Canada & the Native Americans was REALLY on the mind of the US Government.
noeuro 4 years ago
I don't see the comparison between Osama bin Laden and Napoleon, but it's in the past. The sailors weren't given back, were they? Or were they pitted aganist Napoleon's man o' wars, and killed in the hundreds?
ireland88 4 years ago
dont compare napoleon to hitler. napoleon never comitted genocide against anyone.
agricola 4 years ago 3
I was just making the points that this war was really over American expansionism, not a British invasion. America used British press ganging as an excuse to declare war on Britain, but this had really ended by the time the bill passed in congress. America was trying, by conquest, to take advantage of the fact Britain was at war with France, in order to conquer the entirety of North America. But they failed. Anway, just read Wikipedia.
noeuro 4 years ago
Wikipedia says THOUSANDS were kidnapped and forced into a war they wanted no part of against their will. You impeded on the sovreignty of the American people through illegal kidnapping, thus the declaration of war. Whether or not SOME people wanted to invade Canada, to free it or conquer it we do not know. What I do know is that prepare for war if you take Americans hostage.Somehow I don't think Britain would like it if we did that to you.
ireland88 4 years ago
"The British were engaged in a life-and-death war with Napoleon and could not allow the Americans to help the enemy, regardless of their theoretical neutral rights to do so. As Horsman explains, "If possible, England wished to avoid war with America, but not to the extent of allowing her to hinder the British war effort against France." - Wikipedia.
noeuro 4 years ago
"The officially-stated reasons for declaring war were ending impressment..and ending British military support for western native tribes, a major goal..was aggressive territorial expansion. The intent was to drive the British out of North America. One faction in congress had a desire to conquer Canada while the British were occupied in their war with France. As it happened, the British were no longer impressing seamen at the time the bill was passed." - Wikipedia.
noeuro 4 years ago
Yes I agree, a people should not be governed without consent. Back to the War of 1812, I just wanted to make the point that it was the United States which invaded us first, to which we retaliated. So, it wasn't us declaring war. We were taking your men for the Royal Navy, but you have to understand that we were literally in a war for survival against Napolean, and seeing as America was aiding our evil enemy we did that as a means to an end. Ugly but understandable in some ways.
noeuro 4 years ago
But the American navy wasn't helping Napoleon, it was only the Louisiana Purchase that went to France.
ireland88 4 years ago
I agree with you there. We should never have been in Ireland, but it was good that we could strike a deal so that they could gain independence without all out war. Northern Ireland is different. I see you're an IRA supporter so you'll probably disagree with me. Fact is, most Northern Irish are loyalists and happy to remain British. So with NI it's the will of the people in a democracy. Anyway, this was supposed to be about the War of 1812.
noeuro 4 years ago
True true I apologize. Just thought I'd bring to light that it's not impossible for a conquered country of Britain's to resent and resist rule.
ireland88 4 years ago
Well, they are free to leave the Union any time they wish. I might as well say that Texas, California and Iowa "swear fealty to a federal government and have to fight in any war Washington chooses to wage." It's nonsensical. Surely you believe in the United States, we believe in the United Kingdom. Our Union has lasted for 200 years and it has stood us in good stead.
noeuro 4 years ago
Tell the Irish they benifited from the Union. They'll laugh in your face.
ireland88 4 years ago
Yes because they were part of our Empire, we gave them independence as we have eventually done for all our other colonies. Now, Quebecians are French, but the majority of Canadians outside Quebec are from Scottish, Irish, English stock. Well, you may want the commonwealth to shatter but that's not the case for the majority of its members who appreciate the privileges of membership. Can we get back to the point now?
noeuro 4 years ago
