hey there. great animation. i think it's a good idea to release it at christmas. it's also great to see hartnell address the audience. if you want to see the full version of the feast of steven then go and watch it on my channel. keep up the good work.
@blinkanimations Thanks. The art is done with xerox paper and Photoshop. The heads are animated in Final Cut Pro. The bodies are animated in Anime Studio [which used to be Moho].
I don't understand! I saw the animated episodes on 'The Invasion' DVD. They were great! Why don't the BBC commission more for the stories only missing one or two episodes? I'd be more than happy if they looked like this.
It would be good if we could formally petition the BBC to fund a completely missing story as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations. They'd get their money back from the DVD Sales anyway.
@SpeaksTooSoon It would take a few months to complete a full episode. If I received some sort of BBC funding, it would be a cinch to do this, but I'm still just doing shorter segments as a hobby at the moment.
Contrary to popular belief Hartnell's last line was not an ad-lib, it was scripted all along. Breaking the fourth wall was quite common in christmas specials of popular programmes in the 1960's. It's totally non-canon but that doesn't stop it from being a fun little festive romp.
@dutchycooper If you want to keep it in continuity, you could say that the Doctor had sent the Time/Space Visualizer from The Chase to Ian and Barbara as a Christmas present, so he was wishing them a Happy Christmas. Good ol' Time/Space Visualizer is great for explaining just about any 4th wall breakages.
Hi, nice bit of work, love the bottle of bubbly-nice touch. Do you ever use a programme called Crazy talk for your lipsynch? (Not a comment on your lipsynching which is great- just a curious query from a fellow animator).
Ha - Crazy Talk? Never. That's all hand drawn and it takes a very long time and lot of work. I was actually considering Crazy Talk to do quick, fake, crap lip sync for some very very minor characters. But it's not a Mac program.
This is the only episode from this era which actually has "telesnaps" of a sort - someone took a few photos off the screen, though they're poorer quality than usual. So everything's somewhat based on reality - I just flipped everything horizontally because of the specific character drawings I wanted to use for the scene.
Aside from being unwatchable on my G4 Mac in this HD format, it was really cute. How long did that take? Currently watching Hartnell episodes right now.
Thanks. It's hard to say how long this sort of thing takes, as it's all done step by step by step by step. There's a lot of steps. Every step takes about a day.
Outstanding... ABSOLUTLY outSTANDING!!!!! subbed.

This animation is incredible! It's really nice to see missing scenes animated, and I hope you might make an entire episode soon.
Just out of interest, what do you use to animate the characters?

I wonder who could arrange it?

You've done a great job with your animations. Are there any episodes you've managed to complete?

Your character animation is really excellent here and suits the style of the artwork really well.
I think this is my favourite of your animations! :-)
