Throughout the Series, there seems to be only 1 Gun per crew. Chris/Snoop carried 1, Sherod's crew carried 1, Michael's corner had 1 - etc.
Also, I think Poot realized if they didn't run - they were going to die, he left because he realized it was against Bodie's character to run, it may seem harsh that he ran - but Poot tried his best in the few seconds he was given.

I kinda hated bodie in the first season, for being a dick against dee and Wallace, but then he became my hero and I this was the hardest part to watch during the wire.
Bodie just was against Dee's peace in the game, and Marlo's violence in the game, he was the always spitting balance in the game.

There's even a line of dialogue where Marlo suggests Michael be the one to do it, and Chris says that his first hit shouldn't be someone he knows. O-dog is the other kid Chris and Snoop train, who's with them at the shootout with Omar and catches a bullet in the leg.
Bodie goes out like a pawn, standing his ground in vain. I think the scene is visually set up to resemble a chess game. Bodie is stationary, the two rooks come in from the sides to create a diversion, and O-Dog is like a knight with his L-shaped move. I might be reading too much into this, but it seems odd that hitmen as skilled as Chris and Snoop would give themselves away like that.
If you go back and watch the wire from start to finish, there is so much that pops out at you that's easy to miss the first time around. The scene in which Bodie meets with McNulty in the park is bursting with light...contrasted with the extremely dark scene where he gets shot. I don't think that's an accident.

poot did not run like a little girl, he stood his ground until bodie gave him his blessing to run. now he works at footlocker, i'd say a happy ending.
the thing that i like is that the deaths are rarely built up, bar maybe stringer bell's and some season 2 greek stuff, the gangsters always go down with one shot to the head- omar for example was one of the most popular characters in the show and there's no james bond death speech before he goes down, just a bullet to the head.
Thats part of the point though. Think about how much protection Bell would of had, hence the build up. The others were just "protected" partially by their ego and this was played on, with guys like omar. That shit could of happened so many times when omar was roaming alone.

the thing that i like is that the deaths are rarely built up, bar maybe stringer bell's and some season 2 greek stuff, the gangsters always go down with one shot to the head- omar for example was one of the most popular characters in the show and there's no james bond death speech before he goes down, just a bullet to the head.

Thats part of the point though. Think about how much protection Bell would of had, hence the build up. The others were just "protected" partially by their ego and this was played on, with guys like omar. That shit could of happened so many times when omar was roaming alone.
