  • I'm sure the results are good, but wow you may as well just learn how to tune by ear, what happens if you go out of tune during a gig?

  • Use your ears man and forget about all that so called hi-tech crap. One thing is that the reason it seems your getting different tensions is that you're placing the drum dial randomly. You need to place it the exact same distance from each tuning lug to compare tensions at the different lugs. It should come with a metal piece that keeps the center of the dial equal distance from the edge. But again; better to use your ears to get the lugs sounding the same not to mention finding the best pitch.

  • this is really cool! I'm surprised by all the hate on this video, I think this is a fantastic idea and I would love to see companies include this option on kits.

  • gotta say, with the time it takes this to work, id much rather use a torque key, its quick, fairly accurate cheap and no risk to your drums

  • Yay 4 EC2s!

  • They don't even sound that great

  • Ec2 heads are so fucking hard to tune.

  • Are you fucking kidding me? Looks like a real good way to fuck up a drum kit; lugs, shells and all! I suggest learning something of physics and engineering before using this lame, half ass short cut! If you are to lazy to turn the lugs then you don't need to be playing drums.

  • @Puff29646. I totally agree, each drum is different anyway, your ears will tell you that if you know what your doing, leave tuners and gizmos to guitar techs, as a Drummer and Drum Tech I have never used a tuner or gizmo in my life My ears tell me what is right or wrong, wanna hear my Tuning? watch Airbourne live from 2009 onwards, thats my Tuning!.

  • This system is good for getting the heads to approximately where you want them to be, but then you have to fine tune them anyway. A drum dial can do that without all the stuff.

  • Is very nice !

this floor toom is DW collector's??

  • please answer, how much are these and where can i buy? does one box come with multiple parts for each tom or do you have to buy for toms separately?

  • All this video showed me is that the DTS tuning system is, well, a piece of shit The time it takes to put the thing on is about how much time it takes for me to get the drum tuned with a key. Also, you stated several times that the brackets "rarely" fell off. I also noticed during a part of the video it said "be careful not to damage your drums". I don't want to buy a product that falls apart and can potentially damage my drums. Oh, and it doesn't even tune evenly. DTS is a complete fail.

  • personally, i think drum dials are rubbish. this dts system seems cool, but i think this kind of tuning system is a long way from being useful enough to use.... i think 100% your ears is still the only way to get the best sound out of your drums.

  • è una cagata colossale

  • You can’t just plop a DrumDial/TensionWatch like that onto the head & expect the settings to stay accurate. They have to be eased onto to the head or the internal mechanisms will slip and you’ll have to reset it. I’ve seen allot of folks make this mistake. Another thing is, it kind of defeats the purpose of measuring head tension if you’re not making sure the tension watch (or DrumDial) isn’t the same distance from the rim all the way around, otherwise again, you’ll get inconsistent measuring.

  • i guess it's not fully accurate if u had to use a drum dial , and fuck i'll just stick with a drum key i know how to tune drums so :P, that new device seems like a pain in the ass, and is time consuming

  • its so pointless.....

  • The best way to tune a drum: Bob Gatzen How To videos

  • ill stick with a good old fashion drum key

  • @PhantomDrummerCG

    i can agree with that

  • @PhantomDrummerCG

now thats just ignorant........im sure when you started you didnt know how a drum should sound it'll help people out and then when they get better at it and learn the sound they can do without...

  • id trade this for 4 drum keys if i had one :) haha

  • too much work im too lazy to do this lol

  • Do i need to buy two for the top and the bottom?

  • @ACDCman1727 You can use either top/ bottom or both... If you only have one, I would recommend putting it on the bottom as that's the hardest head to tune.

  • Does it work on snare drums?

  • @ACDCman1727 Yes, it works on snares, but not really recommended.. Snares require that special touch of a drum key to tune. Plus, snares are a higher tension, and it may be difficult to get that with the DTS.

  • do i tune both sides of my toms and all other drums? my toms sound funny when i bought them. sorat like a shitty konga.

  • Eric, once you have these on, I see that it can speed up considerably the tuning process.. But with the time it took you to start to find the resonance of the drum itself, in terms of initially placing the DTS on the drum and then beginning the tuning process itself, it looks to me like it's almost quicker with a key. Did you try and compare standard key tuning a new head setup with tuning new heads with new DTS?

  • @l3thDisciple Hi - the video is more of a demonstration and a tech detail on what's happening. Once you get familiar with the DTS, it usually goes on and tunes up really quickly. The one thing I will recommend is making sure your tension rods are as loose as they can be without the DTS brackets falling off. Make sure there's enough room in the tensioner bracket to tune high enough... I have set these up before and had not enough room to tighten the head up... had to redo it.

  • Squeaky voice at 4:40! Wasn't expecting that! XD

  • @Brogan917 that would be the camera girl who was helping me :)

  • @Brogan917 hahaha shits funny

  • Wich is better or more efficient?????.. DTS Tunning system or Drumdial? :/

  • @dzubiategonzales I would go for the drum dial if you absolutely need something to help you tune your drums... the DTS is a complicated system to maintain.

  • its better to buy drum dial, if you are going to check if tension is ok!...

  • @drummerconnection One hell of an answer my friend.

  • I can't tell you how much I appreciate this video. I have had tinnitus in both ears since 2004 due to what the VA calls a service-connected injury while active duty in the Army. While this tuning system may be a "luxury" for most, it would more likely serve as an AID for me since my ears would very easily get lost in the forest of frequencies that occur while reaching a somewhat elusive balanced tuning. I want to rig up the tops and bottoms of my 10" 12" 14" and 16" toms so badly now! THANK YOU!

  • @evolnieveilebi thanks man, I flew on turboprop airplanes for a while and my hearing is crappy... this helps quite a bit in tuning, but I wouldn't buy it if didn't already have it.

  • it helps a whole hell lot! men! aw3som3!

  • @triforce10155 they cost $39.99 - $50 per head when you can find them!
