  • I can't usually stand clean vocals. Newer bands tend to think singing like a female means clean. Periphery is close, but this is tolerable. I almost like the clean singing on a few songs. Super talented band...

  • 04:37 A WILD ELLIOT COLEMAN APPEARS!

    SPONCE USES DREAM!

    IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!

  • WTF at @04:53???

  • this is really good i dont usually listen to music with clean vocals but this is good

  • For some reason, I really want to hear Rody Walker from Protest the Hero do vocals with Periphery on this song, like switch up some verses to have them go back and forth from Rody and Spencer.

  • M0:00RE.

  • Seen 'em live with Dream Theater , they kicked some serious ass ! Singer's way cooler live than on the record

  • remove last two tags, replace with "djent".

    *OCD*

  • These guys are like dream theater without an annoying singer.

And for you guys who don't like this singer, it really takes a couple of listens to get used to him, but i've always thought he was a good singer, even if i've always hated "screamo" singers, and hate "screamo/clean" singers even more, on this guy it doesn't sound pretentious like most screamo singers.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 They actually warmed up for Dream Theater in Norway, Oslo last thursday :) They are indeed great, but they don't compare to Dream Theater :P They actually finished with this song, and said "Now Dream Theater will show you how it's really done!"

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 don't hate on James Labrie...like you said about Periphery's singer "it takes a couple of listens to get used to him" well same with Dream Theater's singer......so yeah don't call him annoying!!

  • @BuriedAlive7x I tried to listen to more dream theator, but that singer is just annoying for me.

I always hated 80s metal "singers" like that. screamos are WAY worser, but i've always hated those too.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 dude worser isn't a word. Plus LaBrie has an amazing vocal range, as does peripherys singer, you should really give him another try. When I first herd periphery I was completly put of by the vocals but now I realise I wouldn't like them as much without the vocals.

  • @TheBedhead90210 Misspelling is irrelevant if you already know the gist of what i'm saying...

    and yeah, i'll try.

  • @limeman2 -.-

  • My handle is honest calculation

  • Not sure I like the tags to this video. The last two anger me greatly.

  • @DethCrusade probably just to get more views. big woop.

  • @limeman2 Don't be a Youtubefag.

  • @DethCrusade What?

  • yea this is my djam right here xD

  • Check out my drum cover on my channel!

  • haha racecar is racecar backwards... and so is YOUR MOM! minus the your part...

  • the first few minutes sound so undescribably cool, and than that groove at around 9:00 and 9:30

    awesome

  • 12:27 omfg ...... i wish in a way that part could be held out a little longer, it's such a fucking awesome groove and i loof forward to that part soo fucking much

  • wait, it seys on wikipedia that elliot coleman did guest vocals on this song??? where??...unless im an idiot and he's singing with spencor when i hear the harmonizing going on...i duno

  • @Throne1607 I guess it is at 04:38, dude. Chech it out.

  • @xZehlukSx Ahhh, your right, it totally is him, thanks man

  • @Throne1607 Rumor has it Casey Sabol also has a small part in this song, I think it's that last grunt in the Death metal kind of part around 6:00 :D

I hope this was interesting for ya xD

  • @gangsterthomas1000 it was, i've been listening to this song ever since the cd came out and i never noticed Elliots part, or parts...i'm sure Elliot accents Spencor and harmonizes with him periodically throughout the song i'm sure

  • @Throne1607 Yep, 4:38

  • i wish i could have those 15 minutes back so i could respend them listening to this song but i will happily spend another 15 minutes to a life time listening to this song

  • those were 15 great minutes.

  • 12:41 :D

  • When I saw the title of this song for the first time i thought maybe the entire song was a palindrome.

  • @scampow767 thatd be trippy!

  • yous all sound young just shut up and enjoy the music man no true metla would ever pick and choose just enjoy it all while kicking to a good brew its all metal brathaz its all metal

  • And I had friends that say: naa dude, proper metal music nowadays is Bring me the Horizon and Black Veil Brides.

    ... "HAD" friends.

  • @EssexMetalHead hahahahaha

  • @EssexMetalHead I actually find it hard to believe that there are dumb fucks like that on this planet.

  • @luukraver Oh I know, so do I.

  • i think i just got an eargasm

  • 9:12 - Damn those pinch harmonics!

  • i LOVE this song :) it just fits together so well, feeling more like 5 minutes than 15. 'Periphery II' next year, we need another 'Racecar'!

  • If anyone has the patience to listen through the whole song they will realize it is one of the greatest songs ever written.

  • @lecce236 Why would anyone not have the patience? It's not that long.

  • people say the instrumentals are beter bt i think this is fucking epic <33

  • song was fucking awesome live

  • My favourite song *_*

  • I've listened to this song over a hundred times; I never noticed it until just a minute ago, but at 15:04, in regards to the solo: dat wrong note.

  • @WindsOvCreation666

    I don't hear a wrong note...

  • @ArrrPirate666 It's the note right before the slide. It's a half-step out of key.

  • @WindsOvCreation666

I hear the note you're talking about, but I'm still pretty convinced it's not out of key... If it was a half step up that would just sound bad anyhow...

Subjective perception maybe, but that's my take on it.

  • @ArrrPirate666 I'm willing to accept that as a possibility. I also noticed for the first time, upon the listen right after this one, that there are guest vocals on this song. Apparently I need to devote more attention lol.

  • @WindsOvCreation666 You know, every note doesn't have to be in key. Heard of chromatics? If it was a "wrong note" I think they would have done a retake.

  • @bogg4n You mean "accidentals," not "chromatics" and yes, I'm aware of them. I've taken music theory. That's besides the point, which is that, to me, it sounds like a wrong note. You can belabor this all you want, but at the end of the day it's a matter of opinion.

  • @WindsOvCreation666 It's probably a mistake but not that noticable that they would retake the solo. For me it doesn't really bother much.

  • @1banez It's not a wrong note OR a mistake. There can't be a "wrong note" It's a note. Periphery is going beyond the barriers of sticking to simple scales and key transitions. Just like dissonance, it's meant to sound out of place to be more original. They can make their solo however they'd like. I found nothing wrong with it.

  • @JoelLara Yea I agree there's nothing wrong about it, it doesn't sound bad or anything. But I just stated it might have been a note that the player didnt intent to hit, sounded more like improvised solo in the end. When you talk about "wrong notes" you're right there's no such thing, ppl hear notes based on what they have been listening to during their life. I've been listening everything from non dissonant to dissonant and that note sounds OK to me, not great but doesn't hurt my ears either.

  • @WindsOvCreation666 Lets think of it like this, its Jeff fucking Loomis playing on it, there's no wrong note, period. jeff loomis is inhuman; its atonal sometimes its referred to as playing "outside" if they had a wrong note it wouldn't make it to the album.

  • @WilliamBonneau Jeff Loomis isn't a perfect being. I've heard him play some pretty sloppy shit. No one is a flawless guitarist. NO ONE.

  • and by pretty sloppy, I mean hardly-noticeably sloppy.

  • @WindsOvCreation666 true, no guitarist plays everything flawless. asssuming though that Jeff Loomis is in Periphery, he's a damn fine guitarist. Therefor I forgive him for being sloppy sometimes.

  • @aalwasserwielie pretty much lolz

  • @aalwasserwielie jeff loomis was a member of nevermore, and then he left, and he only guested on this song, just for a solo i believe

  • @WindsOvCreation666 I don't hear a slide at 15:04, but there is one at 10:32 so which one do you mean? In regards to both notes: the note at 15:04 isn't exactly the best note out there to play indeed, (the other one is rather bad-ass because it the slide/tremolo sounds awesome because of it)

  • @WindsOvCreation666 Haha seriously you're sick. Good ears I must say.

  • Woah racecar is the same when you read it backwards.....

  • Fucking love this track.....

  • this song is some of the closest music i can find to perfection

  • THIS IS THE BEEEST SONG EVAR MADE

  • Why does everyone hate on Periphery vocals......

  • i wish i had a seven string guitar to play this :(

  • Comment removed

  • @jakeooo2344564 i wish i had one without a floyd rose so i can tune to drop Ab without tuning it for a week!

  • @FatFuckRecherche i fucked mine up detuning it

  • @jakeooo2344564 Shit man, do you think I will fuck up mine if i tune the 7th to A and the 6th string to D pretty much every day?

  • 15 mins eargasm

  • 5:56 LOL DEATHCORE??

  • @AndyAngelZ So?

  • i just saw this live last night ♥

  • Where are Eliot Coleman singing?

  • absolutely amazing fricken grooves... sultry melodies... man

  • also, why in gods name is this tagged as hardcore and screamo?

  • @PhoenixCrush I agree with the fuckin tags, dude. Like wtf. And hell yeah the guitarists are showing off, I would if I was such a master boss at polyrythms... I probably didn't spell that right but that just explains how ridiculous they are.

  • Eh, this is aight. Not horrible, but it seems like the guitarists are either chugging or showing off.

  • @PhoenixCrush what the fuck, of course they are going to show off. 30,000 hours of practice definitely warrants showing off. and chugging is what you do to demonstrate your mastery of polyrhythms. polyrhythms = hardest concept in time signatures.

  • @godthegourd If they want to show off, they should just sit and home and play solos for each other. Being really good at guitar =/= good songwriting.

  • @godthegourd what world do you live in where it takes 30,000 hours of practice to get good at guitar? i don't think you understand just how easy playing the guitar is. i'm not saying anyone can just pick it up and play this straight off, but it's certainly not beyond anybody. and yes, by allowing yourself to become a guitar god, you do rely on your skills as a crutch for not being able to actually write a decent song. it happens.

  • @BadCompany2113 Everything you just argued has nothing to do with what I said.

  • @BadCompany2113 I believe Between the Buried and Me wrote a song about that last sentence in your comment.

  • This song is EPIC! Stunning perfect example metal in all aspects! I encourage all to take a better listen to this band. It has everything metal has to offer. Djent, power cords, thrash, vocal variety, blasto, everything. If your not a fan of the vocals, then you are simply nieve to moderm metal talent. Pantera kicks ass, but that level is over. Meet the new level. Periphery. From 9:20 on...is purely musical brilliance.

  • @GdubXJ

If you think this song is a "perfect example metal in all aspects"... then you have listened to very little metal. Don't get me wrong, I love this song, but this is just the tip of the iceberg of what metal has to offer.

Also, Pantera sucks, they never were the "next level" in their day, their technical skills were piddling and they routinely authored lazy riffs that any cretin could've thought up while doing warmup exercises on guitar, evidenced by how they wrote three-note songs.

  • @ddensu Check out how elite and cool you are. Get off of your high horse you worthless douche. Every song doesn't have to push the boundaries of limitations to be good.

  • @bellingerga You should specify what you mean.

If you are sayin' that because of what I said about this song, then you should learn to read. I didn't say this song wasn't good, it's actually amazing for me, but sayin' that is "a perfect example ometal in all aspects" is total bs.

  • why periphery awesome? BECAUSE RACE CAR.

  • who is singing at 4:38?

  • @metallica5252 I think he's Eliot Coleman, but IDK...

  • @metallica5252

It's Elliot Coleman from Sky Eats Airplane, Of Legend, and Of Man Not Of Machine.

  • @JustinDunwiddie and TesseracT

  • @Mrwubz

Lol I posted this before he got into TesseracT

  • @JustinDunwiddie :P ya

  • 10:20 is when Loomis comes in. Dope shiet!! :)

  • just love the band...jeez

  • @krp480 Shame on you for putting Screamo in the tags, you horrible person. take that out, this is not that screamo shit

  • 13:51 and forward is my ringtone. i don't answer calls anymore.

  • @PRWOLF1212 lolol thats is indeed brutal

  • Comment removed

  • @BrutalThrowDown10 i always thought of it as genius yet stupid at the same time... ._.

  • @PRWOLF1212 LOL!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • ok now this is wat im talkin about

  • i think spencer is awesome in this

  • Jeff Loomis solo is amazing. he plays at around 10:10 i think

  • Completelly Guthrie Govan here from 11:52

  • Great song, love the vocal harmony at 4:37.

  • Comment removed

  • i love the part when it goes DJENT

  • Yeah, there are some ~15 minute songs that I like, but I usually only actually enjoy certain segments of the song. Now this song...omfg....the whole song is amazing, and it doesn't need to repeat major segments. It's just, short to say, a masterpiece.

  • i wish this song would be longer ;_;

  • Comment removed

  • First epic on this video is mine ;)

  • One thing I like about this song, is that I can go 15 MINUTES without having to pick the next song to listen to!

  • This whole song rocks, and I think the singing is actaully great. Along with fantastic instrumental work!

  • 9:30

the groove itself is so down and heavy that i cant resist but bang to this piece of art!

  • 10:20 - 10:50 > The rest of the song

  • @metalmadaidan just lol

  • @metalmadaidan lemme guess, Loomis?

  • @rolfeijg2 Correct!

  • 13:10 unveleivable moment. what a band........

  • 12:42 OMG JIZZZ!!!!

  • Is this the version that Loomis plays in? This is listed under his guest appearances.

  • @DrigrX Yeah he solos at 10:20, you can definately tell lol.

  • @DrigrX Yup, Loomis is defo on this. You can hear his guitar tone pretty clearly when his solo kicks in. It's one of the best solos I've ever heard.

  • Anybody know what he says at 5:36? All lyrics sites leave that line out.

  • GODS SAKE BE HAPPY UR NOT LISTENIN TO REBECCA BLACK IN HERE ! or listen to the instrumental :|!

  • I know Casey's guest spot lasts from 5:57-6:03, but what I want to know is where is the other guest vocalists'? Is it Elliot, bassist from SEA and OMNOM and occasional HS vocalist, or is it the actual vocalist from Sky? Regardless, I really want to know at what point his spot begins and ends, because I just can't seem to find it.

  • I don't know why everyone hates on the vocals I think they're awesome.

  • 2:10 - 2:30 gives me chills every fucking time. Everyone bitches about the vocals, but right there everything blends so god damn well

  • in the future, ipods will have the option to turn off vocals and just play the awesome riffs, god i hope i live that long

  • His guitar playing is OVER 9000!..... Oh no hang on I haven' turned the volume up yet... Lemme just get th-SWEET MOTHER OF BALLS! [eyes melt]

  • @nickbmyers217 Listen to the damn instrumental then.

Jesus christ, if you guys don't like the vocals then stop listening to periphery. Chris is in another band called Ever Forthright, and Casey Sabol...well I have no clue whats up with him. It is Spence in the band now, so get the hell over it. Imo, Periphery sounds amazing regardless of who is the vocalist. I mean, they would make Rebecca Black sound good.

  • @krp480 I do listen to the instrumental, and I appreciate the fact they produced a version of the album without emo vocals. I want to give them feedback so that they continue to produce an instrumental. I feel like the vocals are a weak tacked on after thought. The real beauty is bulb on that guitar.

  • @nickbmyers217 Nah, it all comes together perfectly. I don't get how the lyrics are emo though, but you do come off as a pretty big tool who just wants to hug Misha's nuts and ride his cock so it's whatever.

  • @nickbmyers217 I totally agree

  • @krp480 Casey is working on a solo album.

  • @nickbmyers217 Cookie Monster would be better, I'm sure.

  • @nickbmyers217 do better then send me a vid with u doin this song and show me how good u r if u think this isshit u must be really amazing so please show me :)

  • @nickbmyers217 I pity you, faggot.

  • @Visualundeath Cool.

  • @nickbmyers217 The vocals are amazing, you're just an idiot.

  • @nickbmyers217 I like the vocals here, but damn, all these fuckers should just give you some space for your opinion! Cheers

  • @nickbmyers217 hey man it could be worse. they could have avenged sevenfold's singer. neext to him, everyone sounds like a god

  • @biloxi1314 OOOH or Five Finger Death Punch after his surgey!

  • Appropriately, this song is rated 12 out of 12.

  • This song is just incredible.

  • damn i love perry pherry.

Spencer's great, don't get me wrong. But i think they would've been better off with Chris.

  • @VivaEmptiness420 Spencer is great! But if they were to have to have stuck with any past vocalist, I say Casey Sabol FTW! Hes amazing as wellll.

  • Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of the vocals (kinda metalcore meets Protest the Hero both of which I dislike), but the music is mind blowing to say the least.

  • @TheBloodRedX they have done most of the songs instrumental as well

  • 09:55 ->butterflies in the stomach.

    10:20 ->erection+goosebumps.

    10:49 ->I came.

  • at what parts is casey doing vocals other than those beastly ass low screams bout 5 to 6 minutes in?

  • without a doubt, hands down, no competition, the best song ever.

    :D

  • @adioskaterdude999 The best.

  • Jeff Loomis' solo at 10:20. <3

  • Wow! This is awesome, I've never heard Periphery until now!
